Wanna know where the funky peeps hang out? Pearl’s Hill Terrace, of course.
Mention “art enclave in Singapore” and Gillman Barracks probably comes to mind. But that’s not the only one – we also have Pearl’s Hill Terrace in Chinatown. Sure, it may not seem much from afar, but once you climb the flight of stairs (it’s over 50 steps, source: trust me bro) behind People’s Park Complex, it’ll feel as if you’ve entered a whole new world. Formerly a police operational headquarters, the area has become a bohemian meeting place for Singapore’s creative community.
There’s been a lot of chatter about 195 Pearl’s Hill Terrace (195PHT) this year. If you recall, the indie arts cluster’s tenant lease was initially set to end in March 2025. After consultation and reassessment, the leasehold has been extended for another year till March 2026. Hurray! While that may seem like a reasonable amount of time, you should visit the creative hub stat. Here’s a rundown of what you can find at this tranquil hilltop enclave.
Pearl’s Hill Terrace guide: Top things to see and do
1. Paaru
True foodies will know this spot, which has been making waves last year for its fluffy milk bread. That’s gone now, and in its place is a donabe (Japanese claypot) dinner using seasonal ingredients complemented with side dishes and desserts. Reservations are required for the dinner slots, though you can also drop by in the daytime to chow down on udon carbonara, financiers, and the standard caffeine options.

What’s the concept? A house party out of the home – a mini rave, if you will. Wild Pearl is also known as “Singapore’s smallest nightclub”. Pop in and dance the night away with strangers you might just make friends with by the end of the last song. Oh, you can also learn deejaying here, too.
