Need a break? Here are our not-so-typical reasons to book a staycation in Singapore… and a sweet deal for your next Marriott Bonvoy hotel booking.
This is our petition to normalise going for staycations in Singapore as a regular weekend activity – no major occasions needed. (The latest staycation offer for Marriott Bonvoy hotels might just be the sign you need, so keep scrolling to find out more!) After all, there are only so many holidays we can take in a year, so what’s stopping us from creating our own mini vacays?
Whether you’re craving a change of scenery (read: an excuse to be out of the house), looking for a hangout spot that isn’t another cafe brunch, or you have a small (or big!) win to celebrate, sometimes you just need a fuss-free retreat for a quick reset. Well, take a leaf from our books, ‘cos here are five (not-so-major) occasions we’d happily book a staycation for – and our best hotel recommendations for each.
1. When date night deserves an upgrade

We love a stay-in evening just as much as the next person, and you won’t catch us saying no to a good steak and a bottle of wine. But every once in a while, don’t you just crave a mini holiday in the middle of the routine of daily life? Put away your passports, ‘cos you don’t need to book a flight – or even an elaborate stay.
We recommend checking into Courtyard by Marriott Singapore Novena, an elevated and cosy stay in a convenient location in the city. Start the evening with dinner at Sky22, where panoramic city views provide a romantic backdrop, before heading upstairs for cocktails in a poolside cabana at Las Palmas Rooftop Bar (an underrated spot for well-crafted tipples and stunning views). If you’re lucky enough to catch the sunset, even better.
2. When the group chat is craving resort vibes

Bring a little tropical vacay energy into your weekend with this vibrant stay by the stunning marina. After all, there are few things better than a resort getaway to lift everyone’s spirits… and we’d take any excuse to bliss out at W Singapore – Sentosa Cove with a cocktail in hand.
We’ve even got your agenda sorted: a slow morning by the sprawling outdoor pool, a leisurely lunch in the arvo, and sunset drinks at WOOBAR. When evening rolls around, head to SKIRT or The Kitchen Table (the package comes with dinner for two at the venue of your choice!) – and that long overdue catch-up you’ve been trying to organise for months. The best part is that nobody needs to worry about catching the last train home when the stay is only a lift ride away.
3. When you’re looking to find your spark again

We’re halfway through the year, and if you’ve been feeling like life’s become a little too… predictable, consider this your sign to shake things up. No, we’re not talking about quitting your job or booking a last-minute flight. Sometimes, all it takes is a weekend somewhere that feels completely different to reignite your spark.
Our top pick: The Vagabond Club, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel. With its bold interiors, eclectic artwork and boutique charm, this is one of our favourite Marriott Bonvoy hotels for anyone who appreciates design. It’s the kind of place that reignites your sense of curiosity the moment you step through the doors. And sometimes, a change of scenery is all it takes to leave you feeling inspired again.
4. When the little wins deserve celebrating

There are certain milestones that intuitively feel like they warrant a celebration: a promotion, a new job, a new venture… but the little wins deserve their moment too. Perhaps you’ve hit a personal goal you’ve quietly been working towards, or you made it through an especially demanding season at work. Whatever it is, who’s to say you need to wait for a “big enough” occasion before treating yourself?
For moments that call for a touch of indulgence, check into The St. Regis Singapore. The hotel’s newly renovated guestrooms make every stay feel like an occasion, while thoughtful touches like its signature Bloody Mary, complimentary daily breakfast, its beloved afternoon tea (with a history dating back to the 19th century in New York!) in its newly renovated tea room, and daily champagne sabrage ceremony add just the right amount of celebration to the weekend.
5. When your brain deserves a weekend off

If the busy week has left you bristling at the mere suggestion of movement, check into JW Marriott Singapore South Beach for an urban retreat. (Psst: it’s also an amazing vantage point to watch the National Day fireworks!) The central location of this popular Marriott Bonvoy hotel means that there’s no itinerary planning needed – whatever mood you’re in, you’ll find something to suit it. There’s a multitude of top-notch restaurants in the vicinity like Akira Black and Madame Fan, and the sprawling Suntec City is just a stroll away for a retail therapy spree.
On the other hand, if all you want is permission to slow down, you’ll find plenty of reasons to stay put. Spend the afternoon lounging by the FLOW18 rooftop pool, or book yourself a rejuvenating treatment at Spa by JW that’ll leave your frazzled nerves well and truly soothed. Your overflowing inbox will be but a distant dream – or at least, it’ll feel that way.
The best reason for a staycay? You don’t actually need one
Marriott Bonvoy’s latest Never-Ending Staycation campaign celebrates exactly this idea: there doesn’t have to be a birthday, anniversary, or public holiday on the calendar for you to book yourself a well-deserved escape.
From now until 23 December 2026, enjoy a limited-time staycation package across participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels in Singapore. Book a minimum two-night stay with the promotional code “HOL” to enjoy daily breakfast for two, a three-course dinner with drinks, early check-in and late checkout until 3pm (subject to availability, check with your hotel to find out more). Families can also look forward to complimentary dining for up to two children under 12 when accompanied by a paying adult.
Any reason is a good reason for a staycation, we say!
