The name says it all. Confectionary queen Janice Wong is the mind behind 2am:dessertbar, an inventive dessert spot that steers away from the usual suspects. Expect creations like the Strawberry Caprese: strawberry ice cream with raspberry fluff, sakura lychee peals, chartreuse jelly and a trio of fresh, pickled and consommé strawberries. Some, like the Helian on Fire with Jerusalem artichoke ice cream topped with torched meringue, coffee sponge, fig jam, chocolate hazelnut and parsnip chips, also come with recommended drink pairings. Located in an unassuming shophouse in Ang Mo Kio, Desert Dessert is a Covid-19 baby that’s become a hit, thanks to its variety of croffles and bingsu options. Of course, there’s gelato too.
