From giant trees to rooftop solar panels, herb gardens and cocktails, discover the greener details woven throughout Resorts World Sentosa – one visit at a time.
Rollercoasters, marine encounters, retail therapy and destination dining may be among the best-known draws at Resorts World Sentosa. But look beyond the headliners and you’ll find another side of the resort hiding in plain sight: sustainability is woven into many of the places you explore, from attractions and dining experiences to hotel stays. We’ve rounded up seven sustainability initiatives to explore Resorts World Sentosa’s greener side across your next few visits!
1. Stay cool as a cucumber

Between dining, shopping and exploring the wider resort, Singapore’s heat and humidity can quickly make their presence known. So, what can you do about it?
Enter: Weave. This lifestyle and dining hub uses ETFE roofs and large fans to keep the space cool. The roof blocks up to 80% of solar heat while still letting natural light in, and the ventilation systems help keep the air moving. The result is a brighter, breezier place to pause between stops, whether you are dining at Moutarde by celebrated French chef Paul Pairet or cooling down with a soft serve from Sundae Royale.
2. In oceans deep

Singapore Oceanarium is a popular attraction with marine life and immersive habitats that’ll wow you. But while they’re bound to steal the show, there’s plenty to discover beyond the habitats, too.
The oceanarium runs programmes such as Ocean Advocates and Citizen Science, where the public can sign up for activities ranging from coastal and marine clean-ups to biodiversity monitoring.
Got little ones in tow? They’ll be in awe of animal care specialists diving to feed animals like moray eels, rays, sharks and more, happening every day at the Open Ocean Habitat at 4pm (except Monday and Friday).
For a closer look at marine life, try PADI Discover Snorkelling, a 90-minute beginner-friendly experience that lets you spot manta rays, sharks and schools of fish from the surface of the oceanarium’s Open Ocean Habitat. Open to guests aged 10 and above, it requires no prior swimming or snorkelling experience.
3. A (green) walk to remember

Did you know there’s a ginormous coastal forest in Sentosa? Just beside Equarius Hotel is a 2.9-hectare wild pocket of greenery that’s home to 93 plant species, 17 avian species and 21 butterfly species. Fun fact: Resorts World Sentosa regularly monitors the area’s ecological health, making this more than just a “green space”.
Keep an eye out for the Heritage Trees while exploring. Recognised under the National Parks Board’s Heritage Tree Scheme, these protected trees offer a glimpse into the island’s natural landscape – way before the resort arrived. It’s a quieter side of Sentosa worth taking the time to discover, whether as a visit in its own right or as part of a longer stay.
4. Soaking up the sun

Besides the adrenaline-pumping rides, interactive shows and Illumination’s Minions, there’s something else to look out for at Universal Studios Singapore. Look up! We’re talking about more than 1,500 solar panels sitting across the theme park’s rooftops. These green features harness Singapore’s sunshine to power the attractions below.
Also, the theme park’s latest attraction, Illumination’s Minion Land, has attained the BCA Green Mark Platinum Zero Energy Building status, thanks to energy-efficient features and solar installations incorporated into its design.
5. It’s a garden-to-table affair

On another visit, make food the focus at the Laurus Table with a twist. As part of The Laurus Kitchen Sessions, you’ll start with a guided tour of its herb garden before heading into the kitchen to prepare your meal using seasonal ingredients. And yes, that includes the herbs you’ve just seen growing outside.
The garden is just one part of Resorts World Sentosa’s wider initiative on food sustainability, with the resort supporting local suppliers and responsibly sourcing more than half of its seafood.
6. Enjoy a sip from the garden

When the occasion calls for a slower evening, wind down at The Collector’s Bar at The Laurus, where the “garden to the glass” concept brings ingredients from the garden straight into the drinks menu.
Try the Zest of Eden, made with vodka, fresh ginger, lime, lemongrass cordial and ginger beer. Or go for the Spiced Solstice if you’re skipping the booze. Either way, it is an experience to savour without rushing to the next stop.
7. Small details, greener stays

If you are extending one of your visits with a stay, look closely and you will find sustainability built into the Hotel Ora experience. Here, you’ll find refillable water carafes and bulk bathroom amenities in the rooms. These help to reduce single-use plastics and unnecessary packaging.
The same thinking extends beyond the rooms. Paper products used across the hotel are responsibly sourced from FSC-certified materials, showing how even the less visible choices can contribute to a greener stay.
Across these different experiences, sustainability reveals itself in ways both visible and easy to miss. From the coastal forest to the drink in your hand, there’s a greener side to the resort hiding in plain sight, with even more to discover on the RWS Sustainability Self-Guided Tour.
