Shek O

One of the most popular barbecue pits in Hong Kong is Shek O, which is located at a beachside village on the south-eastern part of Hong Kong Island. With clean and relatively calm waters, the beach has a barbecue area with a total of 39 pits, which can get really crowded especially during the weekends and the holidays. Aside from these free public sites which are open 24/7 everyday, the beach also has some other privately-run barbecue areas which are recommended for those who want to avoid the hassle of preparing everything yourself. While they don’t open all day like the public ones, these areas offer benefits like early reservations and tents and they also provide you with the charcoal and other barbecue equipments. Psstt.. they can even start the fire and clean up the area after usage for you!
