Before taking a sip of the basil foam soup with chorizo, burrata and tortellini, ladies may be tempted to snap a photo of this beautifully crafted gastronomy. For mains, Chef Josef has curated two palatable delights: the crispy pan-fried Atlantic halibut with fennel, bacon, pearl onion, beetroot and tarragon foam and tender US Bison Tournedos Rossini with French foie gras, black truffle, parsnip, forest mushroom, heirloom carrot, fig and port wine jus. The former dish is matched with lightly flavoured garnishes to bring out the freshness in the fish, while the latter offers a perfectly harmonised taste of wild beef and black winter truffle.

798 Art District
706 North Sanxiao St. B09, Chaoyang District, Beijing
Gallery Weekend Beijing (GWBJ) is a platform that unites and celebrates Beijing’s uniquely diverse contemporary art scene. Taking place just before Art Basel in Hong Kong, the third edition of Gallery Weekend Beijing brings together 26 contemporary galleries and non-profit institutions, almost a 20% increase from its previous year. Hosting in venues across 798 Art District, Caochangdi Art District and Tianzhu Town in Shunyi District, the platform is a hugely popular event for the city’s culture lovers – over 100,000 visitors attended last year, which is 30,000 higher than Art Basel in Hong Kong. It should be noted that the audience is also young – China’s gallery and museum audience are younger and ‘cooler’ than many others internationally. Gallery Weekend Beijing 2019 introduces the new Visiting Sector in collaboration with Zurich Art Weekend, endorsed by Uli Sigg, which brings Galerie Eva Presenhuber and Mai 36 Galerie to exhibit solo shows (Shara Hughes, Michel Perez Pollo) in 798 Art District. The concept focuses on cross-cultural dialogue to galvanise panel and viewer discussion. The Up&Coming Sector is a curated group exhibition honouring emerging Chinese artist, and finally, the Public Sector will highlight large-scale sculptures and projects outdoors to amplify the meaning and importance of showcasing art at an accessible platform for all.

Wool4School is an annual student design competition encouraging budding fashion designers to show the region what they are made of. The competition is open to secondary school students from Junior (Form 1-3) and Senior (Form 4-6) levels. This year, participants need to design an original outfit that embraces the use of technology to enhance garment performance or function, with creativity, functionality and technology at top of mind. As always, the outfit must contain at least 80% wool. The competition encourages students to use their imagination and find ways to introduce different concepts into fashion, for example wool footwear which can track your run, or a wool jacket embedded with a credit card chip for a convenient shopping experience. The outfit must consist of at least one piece of wool apparel, up to a maximum of four. Key Dates: Registrations: Now until May 31, 2019 (Teachers and Students) Submissions: Now until July 11, 2019 Winners announced: August 8, 2019
