It’s potentially Seminyak’s only place with no Wi-Fi, just like Bali used to be, and we regularly spot the island’s long-time expats here, tucking into the Mediterranean fare and a huge selection of wine. It’s impossible not to love “La Looch”, with its always amazing service, legendary food and those excellent beach views. We think they serve the best pasta in Bali.

27. Amici by Enrico Bartolini

Amici is Seminyak’s much-loved Italian restaurant by multi-Michelin-starred chef Enrico Bartolini. It’s a refined yet casual take on time-honoured recipes, all given a contemporary twist. We recommend starting early with an aperitif on the lush veranda, then dive into dishes like grilled octopus, Sicilian-style parmigiana, and the must-try Uovo 62° e Tartufo. The pizzas are a hit too, but it’s the handmade duck ravioli, seafood squid ink risotto, and saffron tagliatelle that keeps us coming back. Don’t forget to finish with the tiramisu and a Coravin pour of Tuscan red. Bellissimo!

Born in Singapore and now in both Seminyak and Pererenan, this hidden gem is a gorgeous setting to graze on fusion food that goes against the norms of traditional cuisine. Expect signatures like beef tongue tacos, cream of ebiko pasta, and even truffled yuzu sushi rolls (this one’s a must-try!). 32. Fu House

From the same people who gave us SKOOL, Numero Quattro and The Lawn, Fu House is an edgy, modernised Thai restaurant in Seminyak that has forged a daring mix of tradition and innovation. Naturally, we headed straight to Petitenget for a taste of its ancient and new-age Thai flavours. We filled the table with a few plates to swap and share, including the kingfish sashimi with coconut dressing, the plump steamed prawn wonton, the drunken noodles with crispy pork belly, and the fried barramundi with not one, but three chilli sauces. From the bar, the Negroni was served just right, as was the signature Ginger Apple Pisco. This is one you won’t want to miss.

34. Babaghanoush

Babaghanoush in Seminyak is Bali’s newest Middle-Eastern restaurant, helmed by Chef Bjorn Shen (yep, the judge from MasterChef Singapore!). The menu blends the flavours of the Middle-East with Bali’s fresh local produce, sneaking a few surprise herbs and spices into each dish. To get a taste of it all, we went for the sharing-style omakase menu. We started with sesame donuts with cod roe dip, golden prawn nuggets and roasted Sumba oysters topped with sago pearls. Then came the king prawns in harissa (which FYI, was our favourite), and the crispy fried chicken coated with stingless bee honey from Bali’s Payangan village. And trust us, you’ll want to save room for the hot cookie pie – it’s slathered with melted Ubud dark chocolate…

37. The Forge

Officially the most popular pub on the Petitenget block, The Forge Gastropub takes us right back to our days in the UK, feasting on British pub favourites done right. It goes without saying that the craft beers here are top notch (as they should be), but it’s the rustic and authentic pub food that gets our attention. Think Steak & Guinness pie, bangers and mash, and of course, the beer-battered fish and chips. Those British pub classics are all here, and they’re as traditional as you’d expect.

Try the butter chicken made with smoke-infused butter, or the fiery Tandoori delicacies, and the selection of kebabs that are spiced, skewered, and served in a stunning clay oven. And to top it all off, there are wines, cocktails and summer coolers to help soothe the spice.
