Mana Uluwatu is the signature restaurant at the famous Uluwatu Surf Villas. But it’s a destination of its own. By day, it’s a breezy cafe overlooking the waves of Uluwatu, and on weekends, it’s teeming with families hanging by the pool. Then in the evening, it’s my favourite place in Uluwatu to watch the sunset.
You’d think the ocean views would be the biggest draw, but there’s so much to take in at the venue – including sun-kissed surfers! Plush poolside sofas frame the shimmering infinity pool, while the friendly Uluwatu community sips cold beers. It’s always buzzing, but Friday from 5pm is the big party night.
Best for: Sunset swims that roll on to sumptuous dinner.

Perhaps the most iconic sunset destination in Uluwatu is Single Fin. Years ago, this surfer bar put Uluwatu on the map, and still to this day it’s Uluwatu’s go-to sunset spot and live music venue. This is my ‘special occasion’ sunset spot that I always come to with my husband. It’s ‘luxurious’ in the most sophisticated, understated way. Think high-quality local materials, where everything is natural and eco-friendly. And then there is the view. Every seat is positioned to overlook Padang Padang Beach and its crystal-clear lagoon. The cocktails are superb too – the kind where you can taste the quality. And other than the gorgeous bamboo structure, my favourite thing about Dugong is you feel far away from the buzz of Uluwatu. There’s no pumping music here – just peaceful vibes and barefoot luxury.

This new Uluwatu spot may have just opened its doors, but it’s quickly becoming one of the most popular hangout places for sunset hours in the area. Saltwood captures everything I miss about old-school Bali: no velvet ropes, no minimum spend, and no pressure to rush off after golden hour. Instead, it’s all sea breezes, weathered timber, beanbags and sunset views of the Indian Ocean.
I usually arrive well before sunset, order a Coconut Negroni (or the Twilight-worthy Coconut Radio if I’m feeling adventurous), and simply watch the sky change colour while DJs ease the afternoon into evening. And once the sun disappears, Saltwood settles into a slower, more intimate rhythm that’s perfect for dinner and a nightcap.
Best for: Sunset sessions, beach and surf views, all-day breakfasts and wood-fired dinners.

When I first stepped out of the elevator at Sunset Park, it was one of those jaw-on-the-floor moments. It’s a sprawling rooftop bar and social space overlooking Seminyak Beach, housed within the ever-innovative Desa Potato Head. It really is a sight to be seen. The ocean views are unrivalled, and the house-infused cocktails are given an Indonesian twist using locally-sourced spirits. All of this is then topped off with irresistible bites and music that floats through the evening ambiance. My top cocktail pick is the tangy Cloudscape, which features soursop and Indonesian jackfruit arak.

Like all W Hotels worldwide, WooBar at W Bali – Seminyak in Bali is glamorous, chic, and home to world-class dining and entertainment. I often come here for the sumptuous seafood at W Bali’s beachfront Starfish Bloo restaurant, then as sunset swings around, I wander over to Woobar.
Sinking into a colourful daybed here with a pink coconut in hand is simply iconic. It comes with curated tunes, great people-watching opportunities, and a menu that is wholly geared up for the sunset show. The decor is to die for too – it’s a mix of beach casual with retro sofas and giant palms growing up through the decking.

I arrived just before golden hour, claimed a seat overlooking the ocean, and settled in with a refreshing cocktail while watching surfers catch the last waves of the day. I ordered a few small plates of international comfort faves to share, before sunset melted into dusk. Relaxed, welcoming and blissfully removed from the crowds, Thalassa is exactly where I’d return for an unhurried evening near Canggu’s centre.

The Mediterranean-style cocktails are as dazzling as the oceanfront panorama.
I arrived well before sunset to soak in the views (there are air-conditioned areas indoors to keep cool), then as the sun began to set, the chill vibes ramped up a notch, with fine cocktails flowing among Canggu’s cool crowds. Try the Honeycomb Old Fashioned, the Frozen Coconut Daiquiri and the Solero with gin, orange jam, cinnamon and citrus. Top it all off with Hippie Fish’s refined Mediterranean food.

But what makes Azul Beach Club such a great place for sunset is its tropical treehouse structure. It’s set over three levels, with a bamboo design and a family-friendly atmosphere. My favourite spot here is actually by the pool – you can still see the sunset, and it’s more relaxed with loungers and cocktails. After sunset, I always head upstairs to the chic-yet-casual restaurant for a spectacular dinner.

Whenever I’m asked about the best bars in Ubud, The Sayan House always tops my list. It’s perched on the edge of the Sayan gorge, which means the jungle views at sunset are spectacular. And the venue itself is just as impressive. There’s a rustic al fresco terrace, a cute garden area, and plenty of tables for two (it’s a great date night spot). And you’ll certainly want to stay for dinner, because the menu is a fusion of Japanese-Latin flavours – in fact, it’s one of Ubud’s best restaurants. I can’t get enough of their South American-inspired cocktails, but you also can never go wrong with the fabulous selection of sakes.

I’ve always loved Copper Kitchen & Bar – it feels like I’m returning home every time I visit. The staff are notoriously friendly, and the setting is just gorgeous. And much like the cutting-edge Indonesian cuisine served in the main restaurant, the expert mixologists shake up a variety of original creations based on what’s hot right now.
