From casual beer gardens in Canggu to fancy cocktail lounges in Ubud, I went in search of the best bars in Bali. Here's what I found.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a bit of a cocktail snob. And after more than a decade of living in Bali, it’s safe to say I’ve sunk more cocktails than I can count. And rightly so, because Bali’s best bars are backed by some of the world’s most esteemed mixologists. They shake and stir world-class drinks in the most stunning surrounds, alongside low-intervention wines and craft beers brewed right here in Bali.
It was a tough job, but after bar-hopping my way across the island, I’ve shortlisted the very best bars in Bali. All of my favourites are here: from a secret, eco-friendly drinking den in Jimbaran, to that world-famous sunset bar at one of Bali’s best luxury resorts.
TLDR: Here’s my recommended bars in Bali for any occasion:
- Best cocktails: Night Rooster
- Best speakeasy: Whisper Cove
- Best for jungle views: Ambar Ubud Bar
- Best for ocean views: Rock Bar
- Best beer garden: Black Sand Brewery
10 Best Bars in Bali – 2025
1. Night Rooster – Ubud

If there’s one thing you need to know about Night Rooster, it’s the fact that it’s run by the same crew behind Locavore NXT, which is arguably Ubud’s very best restaurant. As expected, the drinks here go way beyond the ordinary. In fact, after chatting to Head Mixologist Raka (he’s always busy behind the bar), most of the drinks are rooted in local folklore (which explains the medieval vibes of the menu) and all of the drinks use foraged local ingredients. I’m a sucker for these kinds of backstories, so I was hooked.
My pick of the night was something smoky, citrusy, and a little bit herbal. I didn’t catch the name (the menu changes often), but it was the kind of cocktail you sip slowly, just to figure out what’s going on. Raka explained how he is always experimenting with recipes and botanical ingredients, so no two visits are ever quite the same. And even if they were, you’d still want to come back again and again. It gives speakeasy vibes but without the gimmicks, snugged away on Ubud’s Jalan Goutama ‘eat street’. It’s intimate and unapologetically cool – a proper nightcap destination with soul.
Must-try cocktails: Moonbeam Lover, Monkey Business
How much: Cocktails start from IDR 150,000++
Opening Hours: Daily from 5pm
Where: Jl Goutama Selatan No. 5, Ubud

2. Ambar Ubud Bar – Ubud

I’ll never forget the first time I arrived at Ambar Ubud Bar. It was when I realised the word ‘breathtaking’ literally refers to moments like these, where you physically gasp and lose your breath. It sounds dramatic, but honestly, so are the views. The bar sits high above the jungle treetops, with a sweeping vista over the deep river valley. It turns out, Ambar actually means ‘sky’, and it really does feel like you’re perched in the clouds, with a perfect view of the sunset (the bar is west-facing).
I arrived early to catch that golden glow, and found a spot in one of the sunken lounges. The cocktail list is inspired by nature, and somehow, the drinks really do match the setting (some even have floral garnishes). I started with the Yuzu Negroni (a twist on the classic), then moved onto the Cempaka Fizz, which was so easy to drink. The Mandapa Cobbler was another standout – layered and earthy with a subtle sweetness. There are also small bites like sushi, sashimi, and complimentary canapés, which felt more like fine dining than bar snacks. This place really is a must-visit for an exceptional, jungle-view sunset in Ubud.
Must-try cocktails: Yuzu Negroni, Cempaka Fizz, Mandapa Cobbler
How much: Cocktails start from IDR 185,000++
Opening Hours: Daily 2pm – 11pm
Located in: Mandapa, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve
Where: Jl Kedewatan, Ubud
3. Whisper Cove – Ubud

Sometimes, to find the best bars in Bali, you need to know exactly which street to walk down and which door to open. And that’s exactly the case with Whisper Cove. This speakeasy-style bar is hidden down a quiet street in central Ubud, and you could almost miss it if you didn’t know it was there. Step inside, and it’s a moody, intimate bar with vintage interiors, warm lighting, and the kind of setting that takes you away from Bali for a moment.
I slipped into a booth and the vibe was exactly what I needed – a low hum of music, candles flickering, and a bartender who knew just what to recommend. I started with the Petal Elixir – delicate and floral with jasmine and calendula. Then came the Geisha: Roku gin, maraschino, white chocolate, and a float of red wine… it shouldn’t work, but it absolutely does.
The bar bites are quietly brilliant too. Root Radical – a crunchy, colourful pile of taro and sweet potato chips with green sambal. It disappeared fast. As did the flame-grilled, perfectly smoked skewers. Needless to say, I stayed for more than just one round…
Must-try cocktails: Geisha, Petal Elixir, Tang Dynasti
How much: Cocktails start from IDR 149,000++
Opening Hours: Daily from 6pm til late.
Where: Jl Monkey Forest, Ubud

4. Rock Bar Bali – Jimbaran

Everything about Rock Bar is out of this world, from the cocktails to the cliffside setting – and even the queues to get in. Since it’s often busy here, this bar isn’t the kind you’ll have on your weekly agenda. Instead, it’s one of those places you have to try at least once, and book in advance for a special occasion.
From the lobby of AYANA Estate, it’s a short walk to the inclinator, which takes you down to the bar. Once you’re there, it’s all about incredible ocean views and coastal cocktails to match. And wow, the views really are spectacular. The bar is west-facing which makes it a prime sunset spot. During peak season, you’ll need to arrive early to nab the coveted cliff-edge seating. But wherever you perch, you won’t be disappointed.
Must-try cocktails: Notoro, Rock My World
How much: Cocktails start from IDR 215,000++
Opening Hours: Daily from 4pm
Where: AYANA Estate, Jl Karang Mas Sejahtera, Jimbaran
5. The Bvlgari Bar – Uluwatu

There’s fancy, and then there’s sipping a negroni at The Bvlgari Bar at sunset. This sleek bar is perched on the top of the cliff at the Bvlgari Resort Bali, meaning the views are simply breathtaking. Getting here is an experience in itself too. I hopped in a buggy from the lobby, winding through immaculate gardens until we reached the edge of the world (or so it felt).
The bar itself is chic but not stuffy – it’s totally open-air with subtle nods to Balinese design. I timed my visit with the Italian Aperitivo hour (6-7pm) which is when small complimentary bites are served with each cocktail. I went classic with a spritz while the sky turned just as orange as my drink. As the sun sets, the moody lighting makes it a really romantic date night destination.
After the sun slipped away, I wandered over to Il Ristorante – Luca Fantin, which is easily one of the best fine dining restaurants in Bali. Like I said – there’s fancy, and then there’s this.
Must-try cocktails: La Dolce Vita, Bvlgari Cocktail, Oak-Aged Negroni
How much: Cocktails start from IDR 350,000++
Opening Hours: Daily from 10am
Where: Bvlgari Resort Bali, Jl Goa Lempeh, Pecatu, Uluwatu
6. Di Atas – Seminyak

Di Atas literally means “upstairs” in Indonesian, so to find this intimate little speakeasy, simply head upstairs from Sangsaka, which is one of my favourite restaurants in all of Bali. I’d say this is one of the best kept secrets in Seminyak. And just like its sister restaurant downstairs, Di Atas is exceptional. It feels like stepping into another world: think low lighting, a moody atmosphere, and a killer cocktail list.
The menu is small but focused, and every drink is a standout. Local Indonesian ingredients are the real heroes here, spun into inventive creations. My top picks include the Torch Ginger Martini and the Jaffa Negroni – both of which use local flavours for a spin-off on the classic. Pro tip: don’t skip the bar bites (the crispy prawn toast is an absolute must).
Must-try cocktails: Torch Ginger Martini, Jaffa Negroni
How much: Cocktails start from IDR 130,000++
Opening Hours: Daily from 7pm
Where: Sangsaka Restaurant, Jl Raya Pangkung Sari No. 100X, Kerobokan
7. TELU – Jimbaran

TELU is probably one of my best kept secrets – not only because it’s hidden within the lush grounds of Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay, but because you won’t find this bar on every travellers’ itinerary. But trust me, it should be. The bar itself is like a Balinese speakeasy, tucked away in a magical garden setting with native wood and open-air charm. But the real magic started when I got my hands on the cocktails.
The standout was a herbaceous number spiked with local arak and a twist of something citrusy I couldn’t quite place – the bartender said it was local kalamansi from the garden. It turns out, all of the ingredients are either grown on-site, or sourced locally from Indonesia. And beyond the drinks (which are, honestly, incredible), TELU’s mission hits home. Every drink supports a local cause, and nothing goes to waste – even the citrus peels are repurposed. It’s not just one of Bali’s best bars – it’s one of the most thoughtful.
Must-try cocktails: Down To Earth, Nasi Old Fashioned
How much: Cocktails start from IDR 200,000++
Opening Hours: Wednesday to Sunday from 5pm
Where: Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay, Jl Bukit Permai, Jimbaran
8. Arriba at Chupacabras – Ubud

As one of the hottest new bars in Bali, Arriba at Chupacabras had been on my radar for weeks before I finally got to experience the hype. It sits high above the Sayan Valley, with sweeping jungle views and sky-on-fire sunsets. You can even hear the sound of the river rushing below.
I arrived just before sunset to catch the soft evening light and the low-key pre-dinner energy. It’s quieter here, tucked away from Ubud’s buzz, which made my cocktail hour feel all the more intimate. I went for the Diablo Caliente cocktail which had heat and smokiness, followed by the Jalapeño Julio Margarita – bold, sharp, with a proper kick. The drinks are Latin-American inspired with a local twist – think pisco and mezcal shaken with local herbs and fruit.
Before you leave, I highly recommend staying for dinner at Chupacabras – it’s one of the best steakhouses in Bali.
Must-try cocktails: Diablo Caliente, Jalapeno Julio Margarita
How much: Cocktails start from IDR 160,000++
Opening Hours: Daily from 12pm
Where: Jl Raya Kedewatan, Ubud
9. L’Atelier by Cyril Kongo – Nusa Dua

To find this sky-high bar, you’ll need to make your way through the grand lobby of The Apurva Kempinski Bali, then take the elevator all the way to the 17th floor. Stepping out at the top is like you’ve stepped into a different world (and the views are definitely out-of-this-world too!). You see, L’Atelier by Cyril Kongo is a private studio and cocktail lounge where the world-renowned graffiti artist (Cyril Kongo) has poured his passion into every corner. It certainly doesn’t feel like a hotel bar.
I grabbed a seat out on the terrace, overlooking the entire resort with the scent of cigars curling through the air. So of course, I ordered the Apurva Old Fashioned to match the vibe. It was smoky, complex, and subtly spiked with local flavours. Just like Kongo’s art, every cocktail here feels considered, layered, and just a little bit rebellious. Don’t be surprised if you spend most of your time here browsing the vibrant murals on the walls…
Must-try cocktails: Apurva Old Fashioned, Balinese Treasure
How much: Cocktails start from IDR 185,000++
Opening Hours: Daily from 5pm
Where: The Apurva Kempinski Bali, Jl Raya Nusa Dua Selatan Lot 4, Benoa
10. Black Sand Brewery – Canggu

A list of Bali’s best bars wouldn’t be complete without a mention of Black Sand Brewery. This casual brewery doesn’t have jaw-dropping views or expert mixologists, but it has changed the face of beer drinking in Bali. These guys brew their very own brand of craft beer to international standards (and they are arguably even better that what you find overseas). I could hardly believe my eyes when I first read the menu. A craft Kolsch in Bali? A hazy IPA and even a Milk Chocolate Porter?! Before Black Sand Brewery, this just wasn’t possible in Bali…
Beside their own brews, you can also get Island Brewing on tap here, plus plenty of wines and cocktails too. And with great beer must come epic food, so the kitchen also sends out bistro-style bites to wash it all down. The bar itself is a sprawling red-brick space with a breezy beer garden out the back. And if you’re after a wild party night, swing by on a Friday when things really ramp up.
Must-try beer: Milk Chocolate Porter, Mango Sour
How much: Beers start from IDR 80,000++
Opening Hours: Daily from 12pm
Where: Jl Batu Bolong, Canggu
