The Best Bars In Ubud – 2025
1. Whisper Cove

Hidden in the heart of Ubud, Whisper Cove is the kind of place you’ll only find if you’re in the know. It’s hidden behind a low-key, unassuming staircase. But step inside, and the space is moody and intimate, with warm wood, soft velvet corners, and shadowy lighting that feels mysterious. But the real magic? The cocktails, which are crafted to tell a story by the master mixologists. The fiery Bibir Manado is an ode to the flavours of Manado. It’s made with smoky, salted butter mezcal, creamy corn, tropical fruits and spicy tomato. We also loved the playful Uno Card cocktail. It features fresh green apple, floral oolong tea, and the smoothest whiskey we’ve ever downed. Add crispy taro chips and chocolate truffles to the mix, and you’ve got yourself an awesome night out in Ubud.

This seafood-focused restaurant and bar brings a unique cocktail concept to Ubud, where each drink tells a story, following a map of Captain Salt’s journey. Bold flavours meet precise execution here. There’s the deep, smoky Kraken, the tropical Banana, and the aromatic Pandan cocktail. Expect a bar experience where every sip is carefully balanced, without unnecessary twists — just thoughtful craftsmanship that lets the ingredients shine. Arrive early to explore the cocktail map at the bar, then transition to dinner with fresh oysters, smoked butterfish, and pan-seared swordfish, best paired with a crisp Chardonnay or full-bodied Malbec from the extensive wine selection.

3. Honey & Smoke

A speakeasy-meets-grillery, Honey & Smoke is the brainchild of award-winning chef Will Meyrick. But it’s not only the food that caught our attention here. Pass the smouldering wood fire and head upstairs to the sleek bar, where 1920s-style interiors are inspired by the stylistic films of director Wes Anderson. Within this vibrantly dressed venue, the bartenders shake and stir superb cocktails, following the menu’s lead by adding fire and smokey nuances to local ingredients. Try the Norihana Smoke, which is unveiled in a plume of smoke. Or the Kyoto Mint’s Berry with raspberry gin, kalamansi, strawberry and pomegranate. Classic cocktails are also given a local spin, like the Espresso Martini which uses Indonesia’s own Nusantara Cold Brew. And it goes without saying, you’ll want to pair these superb tipples with a round of small bites to share…

4. Pasir

Bringing a slice of Bali’s beach life to the heart of Ubud, Pasir (meaning sand) is a Mediterranean oasis on the bustling Monkey Forest eat street. Breezy and tropical, we couldn’t think of a better setting to sip on artisanal handcrafted cocktails that remind us of where we are: paradise! We especially love how each dish on the menu comes with a recommended cocktail pairing. Try the Endless Summer cocktail (made with vodka, sous-vide soursop, lemon and vanilla) with the zesty octopus carpaccio. Or the Tuscan Sunset (made from gin grappe, cherry liqueur and a red wine float) alongside the grilled snapper with burnt butter. Whatever you choose, expect refreshing, fruity, and zesty cocktails that capture the vibes of beach life in Bali, mixed with the fabulous flavours of the Mediterranean. Perfection!

5. Bacari

So much more than just a wine bar, Bacari keeps the bar high with a list of 20 excellent wines by the glass (using the state-of-the-art Coravin Wine preservation system), alongside a selection of superb cocktails and delicious sharing plates. The eclectic wine list at this intimate 22-seater ranges in varietals and vintages from the Old World and New, complemented by a compact yet punchy dinner menu. Pair a glass of Gavi di Gavi with burrata on sourdough (our favourite!). Or a Barolo with the pan-grilled halloumi. Trust us, it’s worth a trip to Ubud alone! And whatever you do, don’t miss Bacari’s cocktails that are made exclusively with premium spirits. Our go-to is without doubt the classic Negroni, closely followed by the Cold Brew Coffee bourbon.

6. Room4Dessert

In case you didn’t know, Ubud is home to the world-famous Room4Dessert. This award-winning restaurant and bar is focussed around a degustation menu of snacks and desserts, all with incredible cocktail pairings. But you can also prop up the bar for a levelled-up nightcap. It’s helmed by famed New Yorker, Will Goldfarb, so the avant-garde desserts here are unsurprisingly the main event. However, the potent cocktails are just as impressive. We’ve had some of the best cocktails of our life at this bar. Shaken, stirred, smashed and swilled – we can’t wait to go back.

Pull up a pew at this super-cool speakeasy on Jalan Goutama. Spoiler alert: you’ll find some of the best experimental cocktails in Bali, thanks to resident alchemist Raka. The bar and lounge area is dripping with a cool late-night atmosphere, perfect for an intimate cocktail and a nightcap. And being from the same team behind Bali’s world-famous restaurant, Locavore NXT, the drinks are sensational works of art, both visually and in their subtle, delightful flavours. And the best bit is, every cocktail uses Bali’s wild botanicals, and are inspired by Indonesian folklore. It’s no surprise Night Rooster once won a spot on Asia’s 50 best bars list…

8. Ambar Ubud Bar

Sitting high above the treetops at the breathtaking Mandapa, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Ambar Ubud Bar is our favourite spot for spectacular cocktails overlooking Ubud’s verdant river valley. True to its name, Ambar (meaning ‘sky’) is perched high up on the valley verge. This means, it’s a great vantage point to catch sky-high views of the sunset. Settle in to one of the cosy lounges, sip your way through expertly curated nature-inspired cocktails, and graze on Japanese-inspired bites. We loved the delicate sushi rolls, fine sashimi and pass-around canapés. Our top tip: come for a sunset cocktail, then make your way to Mandapa’s signature bamboo restaurant, Kubu, for a romantic dinner date after dark.

9. Jati Bar

Thirsty for house-aged cocktails, million-dollar views and an award-winning reputation? Head to Jati Bar at Four Seasons Resort at Sayan, where quality cocktails are paired with breathtaking jungle views and nods to local culture. For example, the barrel-aged cocktails use locally-sourced wood and artisan terracotta casks to slow-cook and house-infuse spirits, honouring the traditional ways of ageing. Then, the cocktails feature locally-sourced produce, most of which are grown within the in-house gardens. The Gin Martini undergoes a 42-day ageing process, while the Hanky Panky revives the now-forgotten tradition of glass-ageing, made with gin, Fernet Branca and sweet vermouth. And if you’re not into aged cocktails, you’ll also find the classics, plus plenty of whiskeys, wines, digestifs and mocktails.

Settle in for a round of Brooklyn-style pizzas from the wood-fired oven, and sip on signature cocktails made with house-infusions and homemade bitters, some of which are shaken up right at your table-side. You’ll want to stick around until late, because Dumbo has its very own vinyl collection, and if you’re coming in a group, Dumbo does great private party packages too.

With not one but three bars, you’ll want to start the evening street-side with a Barrel Aged Negroni, before heading to the indoor bar for an experimental signature cocktail (think smoke, mirrors, and pineapple crowns!). To keep the evening going, graze on Spanish-style tapas, then finish with a tipple at the rooftop bar. Not ready to go home? On Fridays, the second floor transforms into a late-night club, with music, smokey hookahs and good vibes ’til late.

12. Melali Ubud

Melali is one of Ubud’s very best cafes for a Mediterranean-inspired lunch, but it also happens to be a top spot for a refreshing tipple or two (or three, or four…). Slinging craft cocktails and house-infused gin and tonics, we love propping up the bar at Melali Ubud to sip on its drinks list. One of our faves? The All Day Breakfast Martini. It’s the bar’s take on a traditional martini with a brunch-inspired twist. Our top tip? Pair these tropical libations with some of Melali’s best bites, like the pan-seared Jimbaran Bay Barramundi, or the colourful and bountiful falafel bowl…

13. Pinstripe Bar

For an extra special tipple, head to the opulent and Colonial-style bar at Apéritif. Here at this fine dining showpiece, you can prop up the mahogany bar and sip on upmarket cocktails inspired by the magic of 1930s. Each one has been specially created with Bali’s tropical climate in mind, while showcasing the best artisanal spirits and in-house infusions. The aperitifs here are unparalleled (the seasonal Truffle Negroni with black truffle-infused Scottish gin is on another level!), as are the unique house cocktails. Our favourite is the fruity and spicy The Novelist – a combo of tequila and Mezcal, with passionfruit and avocado oil. Yum!

To find this speakeasy-style bar, head upstairs to The Roof’s moody yet elegant air-conditioned interiors, where unique spirits and familiar favourites are combined with traditional ingredients that honour the cultural integrity of Ubud. We’ve tried and tested their Not Your Usual Negroni, and we can’t have enough! It’s a savoury take on the classic cocktail, with salted butter-washed gin, The Roof’s own blend of vermouth, and a mix of Italian and Indonesian bitter. Unsurprisingly so, The Roof has become an after-hours neighbourhood hangout, with its always-welcoming atmosphere that incites closeness and great conversation.

Designed to hark back to the traditional Batavian café culture of years gone by, the quietly refined downstairs bar at Hujan Locale (one of Bali’s best Asian restaurants and our favourite Indonesian restaurant) is a great spot to settle into cocktail hour. Lazy jazz spills out of the speakers and perfectly complements the liquid creations that draw heavily on Southeast Asian fruits and spices. Oh, and there’s a classic cocktail cart too, so your cleverly crafted tipples can be shaken and stirred right at your table…

Proudly Balinese owned and run, Ibu Susu may well be small in size, but it’s made a big wave on the Ubud bar scene. In fact, it’s one of Ubud’s original cocktail bars, and it’s still going strong today. And while the food here excels all expectations (try the pork belly steamed buns, the snapper carpaccio and the fresh local oysters with homemade ponzu or green nam jim), it’s the cocktails that keep us coming back. The Ubud Old Fashioned would fit right in at a New York speakeasy, and the Salted Caramel Espresso Martini is up there with Bali’s very best. Cheers to that.

If that wasn’t enough to get you propping up the bar, the mixologists behind the magic were once the winners of the Iron Bartender Competition. They shake and stir farm-to-table cocktails in celebration of Ubud’s abundant landscapes, using quality ingredients at the peak of the harvest. Think local nutmeg, turmeric, mango and tamarind, turned into syrups, house-infusions and reductions. We love The Spiced Nut with vanilla whiskey, and the Under The Bali Sun, best paired with the miso kingfish ceviche. And psst – keep your eyes peeled for Lynked’s daily happy hours and dining deals.
