If you’ve always wanted to stay right on the beach in Bali, I’ve reviewed the best hotels first-hand so you know which ones are worth it.
If you’re coming to Bali for the beaches (and let’s be honest, who isn’t?), you’ll want a hotel that puts you right on the sand. Over the years, I’ve checked into more than my fair share of Bali hotels – from luxury resorts in Seminyak to humble hotels in Sanur – and some are simply in a league of their own. These are the best beachfront hotels in Bali: places I’ve actually stayed, swum, sipped cocktails and watched sunsets at, so you know they’re worth booking.
Why trust this guide?
I’ve been writing about Bali for over 15 years, and I personally visit all the hotels I recommend. Our team has stayed in, toured and reviewed these properties first-hand, from their rooms and pools to the beachfront restaurants, spas and service standards. We don’t include every hotel. Only the beachfront stays that genuinely stand out.

THE BEST BEACHFRONT HOTELS IN SANUR
1. Andaz Bali
A modern beachfront resort designed like a Balinese village square.

Most resorts in Bali are big, polished and a little predictable… and then there’s Andaz Bali. This entire beachfront resort in Sanur is designed like a modern Balinese village, with low-rise ocean-view villas and suites scattered between tropical gardens. I remember walking through the pathways and thinking it felt more like wandering through a leafy neighbourhood than a typical resort.
But what stole my heart is the Village Square, where four restaurants sit side-by-side like a lively local hub. The atmosphere is wonderfully communal. You actually feel like part of a neighbourhood gathering, which is something you rarely find at a beachfront resort. And when it’s time to slow things down, Shankha Spa (shared with Hyatt Regency Bali next door) is one of the most impressive wellness spaces in Sanur, complete with hydrotherapy pools and relaxation lounges.
It really is the perfect balance: social when you want it, but with secluded gardens and lagoon pools when you don’t. The beach is calm, the vibe is sophisticated yet homey, and the designs almost feel residential.
Best for: Anyone who wants to feel part of a village, with communal vibes and lots of lovely space, right on the beach.
Insider tip: Try the restaurants at the Village Square – they’re more casual (almost like dining at a food market), but the quality is excellent.
Good to know: Sanur is quieter than the west coast, so expect an easy-going pace, family friendly vibes, sunrise walks, cycling, and laid‑back beach lounging.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 4,524,025
Address: Jl Danau Tamblingan No. 89A, Sanur
2. Hyatt Regency Bali
A family-friendly beachfront classic in Sanur, recently refreshed with modern style.

Though this hotel is one of Sanur’s originals, Hyatt Regency Bali has had a serious glow-up in recent years. It spans nine hectares of beachfront greenery, and it has managed to blend classic Balinese touches with modern updates. I stayed here with friends who had kids, and it worked perfectly: three pools to choose from, beachfront dining, and calm, swimmable waters out front. It feels like a proper resort, but without the crowds of Seminyak or the formality of Nusa Dua.
Best for: Families who want a slice of culture, art and luxury.
Insider tip: Book direct to score Regency Club access, which includes daily breakfast, refreshments and light hors d’oeuvres.
Good to know: Sanur’s beachfront path is right out front – great for morning walks or cycling.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 3,290,200
Address: Jl Danau Tamblingan No. 89, Sanur

THE BEST BEACHFRONT HOTELS IN NUSA DUA
3. The Apurva Kempinski Bali
A five-star resort that blends Indonesian heritage with beachfront luxury.

The Apurva Kempinski Bali isn’t subtle. It’s a sprawling, five-star tribute to Indonesian artistry, with vast open-air spaces, intricate local details, and some of the island’s most dramatic architecture. Staying here feels like stepping into a theatre, with a show-stopping staircase that leads all the way from the sky-high lobby, down to the glittering resort pools and white-sand beach.
The Prestige Ocean Suites come with outdoor bathtubs and private plunge pools, and the whole resort leans into heritage with modern twists – from the spa rituals to the restaurants showcasing regional Indonesian cuisine. Bonus: read my review of The Apurva Kempinski Bali here.
Best for: Travellers who want a grand, cultural take on beachfront luxury.
Insider tip: Try Izakaya by OKU while you’re here – it’s one of the best Japanese restaurants in Bali.
Good to know: The resort is massive, so bring comfortable sandals, because you’ll be walking a lot!
Price per night: Starting from IDR 3,825,000
Address: Jl Raya Nusa Dua Selatan, Sawangan, Nusa Dua
Book The Apurva Kempinski Bali
4. The Mulia, Mulia Resort & Villas
A lavish, village-like resort with butlers, Sunday brunches and grand style.

Mulia Bali is unapologetically lavish. It’s basically a six-star luxury village, with multiple pools, gourmet restaurants, and a stunning beach that feels worlds away from the more popular beaches of Bali. The suites here are vast, the villas come with butlers, and there are even hydrotherapy pools in the spa. This resort really is next-level, and you’ll notice it the moment you arrive, with its incredible grand entrance that weaves through the lush grounds. You could easily stay a week here and not run out of things to see and do.
Best for: Over-the-top indulgence with everything at your fingertips.
Insider tip: Don’t miss the Sunday Brunch at Soleil restaurant – it’s one of the island’s very best.
Good to know: This resort is big, bold and lavish – if you’re after boutique charm, this isn’t it.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 7,636,325
Address: Jl Raya Nusa Dua, Sawangan, Nusa Dua
5. Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort
French-inspired elegance meets family-friendly resort living on Nusa Dua Beach.

Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort brings Parisian polish to Nusa Dua’s calm stretch of sand. I regularly come here just for the Sunday brunch at Cucina (yes, it’s that good). But you’ll also want to check in for the full, très chic experience. Walking through the resort, you’ll wind through landscaped lagoon pools, past gourmet restaurants and the award-winning spa, and into your room or suite that feels quietly sophisticated. As for the breakfast, it’s honestly one of the best hotel spreads in Bali (definitely worth waking up early for!). Bonus: read my review of Sofitel Bali here.
Best for: French-inspired luxury with plenty of family-friendly amenities.
Insider tip: Check out the regular promotions – you can snag discounted stay packages, and even a picnic on the beach.
Good to know: Sofitel Bali is very popular with families, yet it still feels elegant and relaxed.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 3,000,000

THE BEST BEACHFRONT HOTELS IN SEMINYAK
6. Alila Seminyak
A sleek, design-driven resort with one of Seminyak’s best pools.

Alila Seminyak is sleek, stylish and very good at making you feel like you’ve made the right hotel choice. The rooms are modern with just enough Balinese touches to remind you where you are, but it’s the beach bar and infinity pool that steal the show. I’ve lost more than a few afternoons here, half-reading a book while cool loungy music drifts over the waves. If you’re splashing out, the three-bedroom penthouse is outrageous (private pool, rooftop deck, panoramic ocean views). Bonus: read my review of Alila Seminyak here.
Best for: Design lovers who want Seminyak’s action without giving up ocean views.
Insider tip: Stay here over a weekend, because Seminyak is home to Seasalt restaurant, which serves one of the best Sunday brunches in Bali.
Good to know: If you love Bali’s sunsets, this is one of the best places to stay in Seminyak to catch the nightly spectacle.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 4,382,547
Address: Jl Taman Ganesha No. 9, Petitenget
7. The Legian Seminyak, Bali
An iconic, timelessly elegant hotel where every suite faces the ocean.

Perhaps the most luxurious hotel on this list is The Legian. It’s one of Seminyak’s true icons that’s been around for years, but it never feels dated. I stayed here recently and was reminded why it’s still one of Bali’s most sophisticated beachfront hotels. The suites are all ocean-facing, the service is flawless, and the vibe is effortlessly elegant. For the ultimate experience, The Club by The Legian gives you private villas with pools, a chauffeur-driven limousine, and a private butler (trained by The Guild of Professional English Butlers, no less!). FYI – The Restaurant here is on another level.
Best for: A six-star luxury stay with timeless elegance.
Insider tip: Sunset cocktails here are a must – there’s even an oceanfront Champagne bar!
Good to know: Every suite faces the ocean, so there’s no such thing as a “bad” room.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 7,312,500
Address: Jl Kayu Aya, Seminyak Beach
Book The Legian Seminyak, Bali
8. Desa Potato Head
A design-forward beachfront stay built around creativity and sustainability.

If you’re staying at Desa Potato Head, make sure to block out a full day just to enjoy the place. Sitting right on Seminyak beach, everything is right at your doorstep, from the beachfront pool to the art installations scattered around the property. My favourite part? Staying here means you’ll have priority access to the beach club’s daybeds, so sunset cocktails by the ocean are always within reach. And to top it all off, the rooms are beautifully designed, with natural textures and ocean-facing views that make it very hard to leave.
Best for: Solo travellers or couples who want to stay right in the heart of Seminyak’s beach club scene.
Insider tip: Book the studios if you want to stay even closer to the beach.
Good to know: Sustainability is a big focus here, from furniture made with recycled materials to zero-waste initiatives across the entire Desa Potato Head complex.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 3,300,000++
Address: Jl. Petitenget No.51B, Seminyak

THE BEST BEACHFRONT HOTELS IN JIMBARAN
9. Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay
A timeless clifftop resort with private villas and Bali’s best sunset views.

Few hotels in Bali feel as iconic as Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay. Designed like a traditional Balinese village cascading down a hillside, the resort opens out to sweeping views of Jimbaran’s golden bay. Every stay here is in a private villa with its own pool, garden courtyard and pavilions, so it feels wonderfully secluded even though you’re right by the beach. You can’t come here without visiting the resort’s beach club and restaurant, Sundara, for signature cocktails and sunset views before settling in for dinner.
Best for: Romantic getaways and classic Bali luxury with private pool villas.
Insider tip: Sundara restaurant hosts a unique Chef’s Table experience where every course is made using every part of the fish (yes, even the bones!)
Good to know: The resort sits right by Jimbaran’s seafood beach restaurants, so you’re also only a short walk away from Bali’s legendary grilled seafood dinners.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 12,400,000++
Address: Jl. Bukit Permai, Jimbaran
Book Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay
10. Raffles Bali
An ultra-luxury resort where every stay comes with a private pool and dedicated butler.

I always recommend Raffles Bali to people who want to feel worlds away from the island’s busier parts, but without the dreaded long drive. Located on a quiet hillside above Jimbaran Bay, this ultra-luxury stay nails privacy like no other. Every stay comes with your own private pool villa, complete with sweeping ocean views, lush gardens and a personal butler to take care of everything behind the scenes. And if you need a little social buzz, the infinity pool overlooking the bay is easily one of the most beautiful on the island (you can even see Mount Agung on clear days!)
Best for: Honeymooners or couples who want ultra-private luxury without leaving South Bali.
Insider tip: Book dinner at Rumari around sunset. The restaurant sits high above Jimbaran Bay, so the golden-hour views are just as impressive as the food.
Good to know: Raffles Bali has only 32 villas, so the atmosphere stays wonderfully quiet and intimate compared to most large Bali resorts.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 20,100,000++
Address: Jl. Karang Mas Sejahtera No.1A, Jimbaran

THE BEST BEACHFRONT HOTELS IN WEST BALI
11. Puri Dajuma Beach Eco-Resort & Spa – Jembrana
A quiet beachfront escape on Bali’s west coast surrounded by coconut groves and black-sand beaches.

If you think the “old Bali” everyone keeps mourning is gone, Puri Dajuma Beach Eco-Resort & Spa might change your mind. Surrounded by coconut groves, rice fields, and a dramatic stretch of black-sand beach, the resort feels a little isolated (in the best way!). I stayed in one of the villas and have never been anywhere cosier; the interiors blend traditional Balinese design with natural wood and stone that stays refreshingly cool against the Bali sun. But of course, the real highlight here is the ocean. Think miles of clear water and wide beaches that often feel completely empty, as if you have the entire coast to yourself.
Best for: Travellers looking to experience Bali’s quieter west coast and a taste of the “old Bali” charm.
Insider tip: Don’t leave without trying their beach massage. It’s a treatment right by the shore, where the volcanic sand is gently washed by the sea.
Good to know: Pekutatan is known for its surf breaks, so the waves can be strong. Perfect for intermediate to advanced surfers.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 2,200,000++
Address: Pekutatan, Jembrana Regency
Book Puri Dajuma Beach Eco-Resort & Spa
12. Lost Lindenberg – Pekutatan
A design-forward retreat that feels like a luxurious treehouse by the beach.

Ever dreamed of living in a tree house? Now imagine one, but far more luxurious. That’s exactly the vibe at Lost Lindenberg. The property is made up of striking wooden towers that rise above the coconut palms to face the ocean. The design is bold yet warm, filled with timber and natural textures. What makes it special, though, is the community: all meals are plant-based and served in a communal space where you can end up swapping stories with other guests. It feels like living in a cosy, ultra-luxurious, modern jungle house with your crew!
Best for: Design lovers looking for an off-the-grid beachfront stay.
Insider tip: Ask for one of the upper-level rooms for the best views across the ocean.
Good to know: Lost Lindenberg is vegan and adults-only, so the atmosphere stays calm and intimate.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 6,500,000++
Address: Banyar Yeh Kuning, Jl. Ngurah Rai, Pekutatan
13. Bali Beach Glamping – Tabanan
A unique beachfront glamping stay where luxury tents sit steps from Bali’s west coast waves.

If you’re looking for a different kind of luxury, Bali Beach Glamping offers a refreshing change from traditional beachfront resorts. Instead of hotel rooms, you’ll stay in spacious safari-style tents with proper beds, ensuite bathrooms and private terraces that open out to the sound of the ocean. What I love most here is how peaceful it feels. The beach stretches for miles with barely another soul in sight, and sunset here is spectacular. It has those adventurous, outdoorsy vibes but remains comfortably luxurious.
Best for: Couples looking for a unique beachfront stay away from the crowds.
Insider tip: Not all the tents sit right by the beach, so be sure to book an oceanfront tent if you want the best views.
Good to know: The beach here is dramatic and beautiful, but the waves can be strong, so it’s better for sunset walks than swimming.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 960,000++
Address: Jl. Kebo Iwa Jl. Batu Tampih Kangin, Tabanan
14. Plataran Menjangan Resort & Spa – Menjangan
A secluded eco-luxury retreat where the wild beauty of West Bali takes centre stage.

Plataran Menjangan Resort & Spa feels like a completely different side of Bali. Deep inside West Bali National Park, this remote retreat is surrounded by mangroves, forest, and calm waters, making it one of the island’s most peaceful beachfront stays. The villas are a masterclass in “wild luxury”, blending traditional Indonesian touches with open-air designs that invite the outside in. My favourite part? Sharing your morning coffee with the local deer wandering the grounds, or taking a kayak out onto coastal waters so still they look like glass.
Best for: Nature lovers looking for a remote escape far from Bali’s busy hubs.
Insider tip: Don’t miss a snorkelling trip to Menjangan Island, the coral reefs here are some of the healthiest in Bali.
Good to know: Plataran Menjangan Resort & Spa sits inside West Bali National Park, so the atmosphere is wonderfully wild and quiet compared to most Bali resorts.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 2,500,000++
Address: West Bali National Park, Jl. Raya Seririt, Gilimanuk

THE BEST BEACHFRONT HOTELS IN EAST BALI
15. Hotel Komune Resort and Beach Club – Keramas
A lively beachfront stay overlooking Keramas Beach, Bali’s famous surf break.

Hotel Komune Resort and Beach Club sits right in front of Keramas Beach, one of Bali’s most famous surf breaks. Even if you’re not a surfer, it’s hard not to get caught up in the energy here. I’ve spent afternoons by the beachfront pool watching surfers carve through the waves just metres away, and the whole place has a social vibe that feels very different from Bali’s more polished luxury resorts. The resort also leans into wellness, with yoga classes, a beachfront gym and a spa for post-surf recovery.
Best for: Surfers and beach lovers who want front-row seats to one of Bali’s best waves.
Insider tip: Keramas Beach is better for surfing than swimming, thanks to the powerful reef break.
Good to know: Komune is surprisingly family-friendly too, with a kids club, beachfront pool and plenty of space for little ones to run around.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 2,100,000++
Address: Pantai Keramas St, Medahan, Gianyar Regency

Good to know before booking a beachfront hotel in Bali
- Best time to visit: Dry season (May to October) is the sweet spot for Bali’s beaches, with clear skies and calm seas. December is popular for the Christmas holidays, but expect higher rates. Rainy season (November to March) brings occasional downpours, but mornings are often sunny. You can read our full guide to Bali weather if you’re still unsure.
- East vs West Coast: Sanur (east) is calm, swimmable, and sunrise-friendly. Seminyak and Jimbaran (west) are better for sunsets, surfing, and nightlife. Nusa Dua (south) has calm lagoons and resort-style beachfronts. Also keep in mind that the west coast is better during the dry season, and the east coast is better during the wet season, as offshore winds mean cleaner beaches and calmer seas.
- Pricing: Expect to pay IDR 3,000,000 to IDR 10,000,000 per night for five-star beachfront hotels. Boutique options and villas can be cheaper, but oceanfront rooms always carry a premium.
- Booking tip: Direct booking often includes perks like airport transfers, daily breakfast, or spa credit.

FAQs on Bali's Best Beachfront Hotels
Which area in Bali is best for a first-time visitor staying on the beach?
It really depends on your vibe. Seminyak and Canggu are the most popular choices for first-timers who want the full Bali beach lifestyle with beach clubs, cafes, and sunset cocktails. Nusa Dua is best for calm beaches and luxury resorts, Sanur for families and sunrise walks, and Jimbaran for seafood dinners by the sand. If you'd rather skip the buzz and go straight to calm, clean water, East or West Bali are better fits.
When is the best time to visit Bali's beaches?
The dry season from May to October is the safest bet for beach holidays, with clear skies and calm seas. If you're on the west coast (Seminyak, Canggu, Jimbaran), this matters even more, as offshore winds keep the beaches cleaner.
Which beachfront hotels in Bali are best for families?
Several are excellent for families. Andaz Bali, Hyatt Regency Bali, Sofitel Nusa Dua and Hotel Komune all have kids' clubs, multiple pools and calm beach access. Nusa Dua and Sanur are generally the best areas for families, thanks to their safe swimming conditions and quieter, more relaxed pace.
Where should I stay in Bali for the best beach sunsets?
For Bali’s best beach sunsets, stay on the west coast. Seminyak, Jimbaran and West Bali are all brilliant for golden-hour views, with beachfront hotels like Alila Seminyak, The Legian Seminyak, and Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay.
Are Bali beachfront hotels expensive?
Beachfront hotels in Bali can range from boutique stays under IDR 2,000,000 per night to ultra-luxury resorts over IDR 20,000,000 per night. For five-star beachfront hotels, expect to pay around IDR 3,000,000 to IDR 10,000,000 per night, depending on the season and room category.
