What do you know about Marine Parade? If you’re unfamiliar with the area, this handy guide is here to help you.
Located on Singapore’s southeastern coast, Marine Parade may not be as bustling as Tampines or Paya Lebar. But this sleepy town that encompasses Katong, Marine Parade, East Coast, Mountbatten, and Marina East has its charm: we can’t put a finger on it, but we feel relaxed and happy whenever we’re there. And with the opening of the new MRT stations, more people can easily experience this neighbourhood’s beauty and serenity, too. Hurray! Here are our recommendations for top food spots and things to do in Marine Parade.
Marine Parade guide: Best food
1. Aziza Putu Piring
Let’s clear up the confusion: putu piring shouldn’t be mistaken for tutu kueh. Sure, they may look similar, but this version of the steamed rice cake contains gula melaka filling. True foodies will know about this stall, which offers the beloved afternoon snack with unexpected fillings. Durian, anyone? The little ones will love the putu piring with Nutella. Other familiar delights like pisang goreng, samosas, and curry puffs are sold here too. Yes, it’s okay to have that cheat day.
Aziza Putu Piring, #01-02, Marine Parade Central Market and Food Centre, 84 Marine Parade Central, Singapore 440084
2. East Coast Commune
If you’re out under the sun in East Coast Park for far too long, rest your weary feet at this welcoming, cavernous cafe. Ah, air-conditioning! Grab a table and relax as the staff work their magic in the background. Sip on iced masala chai, tuck into familiar brunch faves, and watch the world go by before you bid adieu and head home.

3. Tip Top Western Food
As much as we love local dishes, we have a soft spot for our country’s take on Western food. Who can resist chicken chop and crinkle-cut fries? This hawker stall, which has been around for almost three decades, is where you can find old school delights that take you back to the “good old days”. Most of the items cost less than $10, which is a great source of relief for our wallets.
Tip Top Western Food, #01-22, Marine Parade Central Market and Food Centre, 84 Marine Parade Central, Singapore 440084
4. Supernova
The team behind Atlas Coffeehouse always seems to have a hit cafe in their hands, and this one is no exception. The stylish Supernova is all about creature comforts and deep flavours, serving brunch dishes in the daytime before swapping the menu with wines, cocktails, and grilled meats at night. You can choose to dine alfresco – especially convenient if you have four-legged friends with you – or go for the tables near the windows.
Supernova, 266 Tanjong Katong Road, Singapore 437053
5. Yong Huat Delight
Chee cheong fun is one of Singapore’s most underrated breakfast dishes. If you’re a fan, we know a food stall in Marine Parade offering silky smooth chee cheong fun. Enter Yong Huat Delight: the owner painstakingly prepares the dish by soaking and grinding rice before turning it into rolls. There are 10 different fillings, from the classic prawn to one with shredded turnip and shrimp. Don’t forget to add the crunchy preserved radish for more punch.

6. Little Rogue Coffee
We’re all for bright cafes with an inviting ambience, and this little spot in Tanjong Katong hit the marks for us. The minimalist space is tastefully decorated with wood furniture, indoor plants, and a neon “coffee and sunshine” sign on one of the walls; there’s even a dedicated area for cyclists to park their two-wheelers. Diners can wolf down all-day breakfast options, burgers, sourdough cheese toasties, and more. Wash everything down with coffee, which reminds us of the cuppas served in Melbourne. Delicious.
Little Rogue Coffee, 336 & 338 Tanjong Katong Road, Singapore 437109
7. Kun Ji Duck Rice
The unspoken rule among foodies is that the food must be good if there’s a long queue. This highly acclaimed stall is known for its signature braised duck rice, which comes with a generous portion of meat that’s doused in dark sauce. You can also try the braised duck porridge, which is filled to the brim and bursting with saucy goodness. It goes without saying that you should order the braised side dishes while you’re here.

9. East Coast Park
What can we say about this green space? Firstly, it’s very popular with the locals, judging by how crowded it gets on weekends. There are families having picnics and barbeques, couples sitting on the benches and making lovey-dovey eyes at each other, running enthusiasts clocking their daily fitness goals, and migrant workers having the time of their lives on their off days.
Food is another reason Each Coast Park is the quintessential hangout spot. Take your pick from the popular East Coast Lagoon Food Village and fancy eateries like PS.Cafe East Coast Park, Jypsy Parkland Green, and St. Marc Bakery & Bar.

10. Katong Swimming Complex
It’s rare to find a swimming complex in Singapore that’s not packed, so it’s nice to come across this one and not see too many warm bodies around. Visitors can clock a few laps around the swimming pool and enjoy a leisurely afternoon under the sun, lounging on the bench and working that tan. Kids will have fun in the wading pool with the adorable animal statues. If only we could do it often…

11. Parkway Parade
Everyone often equates this suburban shopping complex to Marine Parade’s most well-known landmark. They’re not wrong. Since 1994, residences and visitors have dropped by Parkway Parade for their retail, recreational, and service needs. OGs will remember the MPH bookstore that took up a large portion of the basement; the space now features plenty of food options. If you’re into the mundane dating trend, Fairprice Xtra on the third floor is a good place to chill with bae and get groceries.
