Planning a day out at East Coast Park? Skip packing your lunch and dine at East Coast Lagoon Food Village.
We love spending time at East Coast Park. Walking barefoot along the shoreline, sitting at the breakwater and bearing our souls to our loved ones, cycling up and down the expansive green space… ahhh, it doesn’t get any better than this. And when our stomach starts to growl, there’s only one place where we go to satisfy our hunger: East Coast Lagoon Food Village. This vibey seaside hawker centre (doesn’t it remind you of Bali, for some reason?) is a foodie hotspot with local favourites like satay and fried chicken. Here’s our list of recommended stalls you must hit up when you’re there.
Must-try stalls at East Coast Lagoon Food Village
1. Haron Satay 55
It’s common practise to order satay if you’re dining here. While there are plenty of stalls hawking this delicacy at the food centre, one that regularly sees snaking queues is Haron Satay. Notice the generous portions on each stick? You know you’re getting more bang for your buck. The meats are grilled upon order, which means they’ll arrive at your table hot and nicely charred. Dip the sticks into the accompanying peanut sauce for a nutty burst of flavour.

2. Song Kee Fried Oyster
You’ve not truly lived until you’ve tried oyster omelette, a hawker centre staple. This stall has made it to the Michelin Guide’s revered list, so obviously you must hit it up if you find yourself at the food village. The menu has only two items: oyster omelette (orh luak) and oyster egg (orh neng). What’s the difference? The former is fried with tapioca starch to crispy goodness, while the latter doesn’t have any. Both come with deliciously succulent oysters.

3. Geylang 29 Charcoal Fried Hokkien Mee
Serious foodies should know about this stall, whose origins can be traced back to Geylang Lorong 29 (hence the name). The business was uprooted to East Coast Road before spawning this outlet. Its signature Hokkien mee is cooked over a charcoal stove, producing a plate of noodles with the perfect amount of wok hei. Consider adding oysters to your order for added saltiness.

4. Stingray Forever BBQ Seafood
Sun, sand, and stingray. It’s a combination you can enjoy only at East Coast Lagoon Food Village. The hottest stingray is smothered with sambal sauce before being wrapped in a banana leaf and barbecued, resulting in flaky fish that falls off the bone. True to its name, this stall also offers options like grilled squid, cod fish with oyster sauce, chilli crab, and fresh salmon with garlic. Don’t forget the fried rice if you must wolf down some carbs.

5. Ah Hwee BBQ Chicken Wings & Spring Chicken
We don’t know about you, but we find it a hassle when we have to get our hands dirty to tuck into our food. But if it’s for a good plate of chicken wings, we’re more than happy to do so. Ah Hwee is at the top of the barbecued chook game, and that’s a given since the stall has been in business for over 50 years. The marinade, comprising various ingredients like Chinese wine and ginger, is the sole reason no one can resist the cooked chicken.

6. Lagoon Leng Kee Beef Kway Teow
Everyone’s probably familiar with the Hainanese version of beef noodles, which come in thick gravy. Lagoon Leng Kee Beef Kway Teow offers the noods Teochew style, aka in a light, flavourful broth made from beef bones that have been simmered for hours. The salted vegetables add a touch of tang to the soup, elevating the entire dish. We say this is a good option to slurp up after you’ve devoured all the oily food.

7. Zuo Ji Duck Rice
From one fowl to another, this is for all duck rice lovers. This stall is often regarded as one of the best in Singapore, largely due to its tender deboned duck drenched in thick, soy-based gravy. If you want something more comforting, swap the rice for porridge. Don’t forget to pack on the chilli – choose between the bright, watery one or the thick dark red sauce. The duck rice sells out fast, so head down early to avoid disappointment.

8. Lagoon Famous Carrot Cake
Are you team black or team white? It doesn’t matter – this stall offers its customers both versions without pork or lard. But if you have difficulty deciding, we recommend ordering the mixed carrot cake. You get the best of both worlds here! Isn’t that neat? Each fragrant serving comes with prawns and can easily fill you up. Those who are still feeling peckish can order the award-winning popiah.

9. Ahmad Spring Satay & BBQ Chicken Wings
Here’s another stall in East Coast Lagoon Food Village offering satay and chicken wings. The establishment previously operated at Geylang Serai before making the big move to this hawker centre. Visitors can sink their teeth into beef, chicken, and mutton skewers; those who enjoy the taste of offal can order tripe and beef liver. Otherwise, stick to the safe option by savouring a plate of gorgeously glazed chooks.

10. Lagoon Chicken Curry Puff
Old Chang Kee who? You won’t find the beloved brand at this complex – not when this stalwart is still sticking around here. The curry puffs are made from scratch daily, so you can truly savour the owner’s blood, sweat, and tears in each bite. We’re talking flaky, buttery pastry enveloping a chicken curry filling that has a spicy kick, thanks to the chillis. A perfect snack to end your culinary adventure.

11. Han Jia Bak Kut Teh & Pork Leg
Sometimes, we’re not in the mood for anything else but a warm bowl of soup and tender meat. If you’re having one of those days, head over to this hawker legend and get your fill of delicious bak kut teh (meat bone tea). The broth is an equal mix of peppery, garlicky, and sweet flavours, complemented by beancurd and braised egg. If you’re feeling extra carnivorous, the braised pork trotters or pork leg are good options to chow down. Or, you can just get both!

12. Iqbal Soup Kambing
Mutton soup is an acquired taste. But if you enjoy this underrated dish, satisfy yourself by ordering a bowl from this stall. Iqbal Soup Kambing may be new to this side of the world, but its branch in Geylang Serai has already gained a cult following. The choices on the signboard might overwhelm you, but if you ask us, we say stick to the classic sup isi (meat soup). Once you’re brave enough, you can consider trying the brain or tongue soup.
