Fireworks in Hong Kong are finally making a comeback! Here’s where you can watch the shows and make new, dazzling memories.
Hong Kong is full of exciting tourist attractions, Instagram spots, and vibrant neighbourhoods like Wong Tai Sin just waiting to be explored. But if you want to see something truly spectacular, then you’ve got to watch the grand fireworks displays that take place over Victoria Harbour on special days, such as National Day, Chinese New Year, or New Year’s Eve. If you’re wondering where to watch these stunning fireworks in Hong Kong, these places won’t disappoint. Just be sure to get there really, really early!
Where to watch fireworks in Hong Kong
1. Tamar Park

One of our favourite parks in Hong Kong, Tamar Park is an excellent place to catch the fireworks with the whole family (along with an excited crowd). With sprawling green lawns, you can spread out a blanket to comfortably enjoy the show. Just a short walk from the Admiralty MTR station, the convenience and accessibility of Tamar Park can’t be beat, especially when you’re making last-minute plans. Due to its central location, this spot does get very busy, so be sure to get there with plenty of time to spare to nab a good spot.

2. Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade

To get an unobstructed view of fireworks in Hong Kong, you’ll have to get up close and personal with the Victoria Harbour. The Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade runs right along the waterfront and offers one of the most magnificent panoramas of the Hong Kong skyline. It’s already a prime spot to catch the nightly Symphony of Lights show, so when it comes time for a special fireworks show, you can expect pure magic here! However, remember to come early to get a good spot as many flock to this popular locale for the same reasons.

From studios to penthouses and everything in between, you can have your own urban hideaway in the vibrant neighbourhood of Tsim Sha Tsui. While most accommodations are already booked for National Day 2023, you can start booking now for New Year’s Eve and beyond!

In front of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre lies the Wan Chai Temporary Promenade, a convenient spot to marvel at the beautiful Victoria Harbour. A picture-perfect view of the fireworks can be seen from any spot along this walkway, with plenty of seats littered around (if you arrive early enough to nab one). The Wan Chai Temporary Promenade will bring you close to the action without needing to spend a cent and is welcome to everyone, from families to pets.

5. IFC Mall

Looking for a fun way to watch the fireworks in Hong Kong? Head to the top of IFC Mall in Central and enjoy one of the best vantage points in town. What’s more, it’s a public space, so you can pack your own picnic (complete with bubbles, of course!). As a glitzy shopping mall with plenty of amenities, you can easily spend hours exploring before the show begins. Grab dinner at one of the restaurants, stock up on food and drinks to bring up to the roof, and maybe even watch a movie at the cinema.

6. Ocean Terminal Deck
Get right in the thick of Victoria Harbour to get a gorgeous look at the city from Ocean Terminal Deck. The rooftop of the five-storey extension building of Harbour City extends right over Victoria Harbour, providing an amazing 270-degree view of the skyline. This viewing platform is free for the public and will give you a picturesque outlook of fireworks dancing over Hong Kong. Additionally, if you’re short on plans before and after the display, you can head right over to Harbour City for dining and entertainment. What’s not to love?

Another excellent vantage point right along the Victoria Harbour is the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade. With numerous lawns in the area, you can relax while enjoying the fireworks from a ringside seat. While you’ll have to arrive earlier to reserve a sought-after spot, you won’t be short of things to do in the West Kowloon Cultural District. In fact, you should definitely bring along your furry pals to join in on the fun!
