1. Midnight Runners

The Hong Kong branch of Midnight Runners is part of a global community spanning 15 cities. Although the name boasts midnight, the Midnight Runners lace up their shoes at 7:30pm for their Thursday runs. Starting at Pier 3, the group runs its 10km bootcamp while stopping for bodyweight exercises every few km. In addition, Midnight Runners hosts long runs and party runs, with music pumping every time.

2. Prism Runners

Founded in 2014 by a group of local runners, Prism Runners has become known as a run club that strives to promote sports culture among Hong Kong youths. Whether you’re a veteran runner or a beginner to the sport, you’ll fit right into Prism’s fun and energetic crew. Put on your running shoes and take part in their weekly run every Wednesday at 8pm!

3. DOP Training Club

Co-founded by personal trainers Dan Yeung and Mike Wu, DOP Training Club is not your ordinary running club. Apart from running groups, DOP also hosts strength, interval, and endurance training sessions complete with guidance in nutrition and recovery. If you’re a committed runner who wants to optimise your performance, then DOP is the running club for you! Get ready for intense sessions, but you’ll be supported by a friendly community as you power through pre- and post-training. What’s more, from December 2024, you can train for your next half-marathon with DOP in anticipation for the February 2025 Standard Chartered Marathon.

4. Harbour Runners

Who says creatives can’t enjoy some exercise as well? This creative running group is a more laissez-faire running club in Hong Kong. With no sign-ups or memberships required, runners simply need to show up to Harbour Runners’ weekly Wednesday night runs and break a sweat. Harbour Runners’ has runs spanning everywhere from the North Point Ferry Pier to Festival Walk, uniting runners with a shared love of Hong Kong (and running!).

5. Hong Kong Ladies Road Runners Club

Here’s a running club in Hong Kong for the ladies. Hong Kong Ladies Road Runners Club was started in 1979 with a goal to encourage more women to get into running. Although men are now open to become members as well, the main objective has remained the same. The group holds social runs usually on Saturdays, track training sessions on Wednesdays, and a fitness class on Thursdays. Hong Kong Ladies Road Runners Club also organises three big races a year that paid members have priority entry to.

6. Wazup Running Club

You gotta make time to join Wazup! This run club in Hong Kong has a packed schedule, with four runs taking place across the city every week. Track Tuesdays are perfect for runners who want to train and build on their speed and technique, while Urban Wednesdays offer a more casual running experience along the Central harbourfront. On the weekend, get involved in Trail Saturday and explore Hong Kong’s stunning landscape, or meet up on LSR Sunday to work on your endurance.

7. Hong Kong Trail Runners

Out of the many running clubs in town, Hong Kong Trail Runners is one that certainly takes advantage of the variety of trails available in the 852. This amateur group aims to get as many trail runners together as possible for social runs and community activities. Tackling beginner and intermediate trails, members are encouraged to help keep trails clean and contribute to community works.

8. The Gone Runners

An extension of the athletic store Gone Running, The Gone Runners is a running club in Hong Kong that wants to help you meet your running goals. The group organises a regular Saturday morning social run that’s open to guests, but runners are encouraged to become full members. With a paid membership, you have access to online coaching, discounts at Gone Running, and a free wine or coffee at Fineprint for every 20km run. This group is great for beginners, as well as experienced runners who want to hit a new PB.

9. Garmin Run Club

An offshoot of the GPS-navigation products company Garmin, Garmin Run Club offers training to help perfect your running form. Every month, the group holds single classes, regular classes, and city runs with Garmin coaches present. Online training is available via the Garmin Sports app but the offline events are the big draw. Although non-users are able to sign up, Garmin users are offered discounts on the classes. City runs, on the other hand, are free of charge, but be sure to sign up first as space is limited!
