Who is Lulu?

Previously located within a hotel and created in 2017, Lulu’s Lounge was a tribute to 1960s New York. The concept was built around the eponymous Lulu, a fictional mafia girl from the Bronx. Founders Joshua and Sarisa Schwartz (also behind Employees Only, Bang Bang, and COTU) wondered, what would it be like if she opened a lounge?
The first iteration of Lulu’s Lounge was classy with a touch of risque. Think jazz music and elegant interiors speckled with the occasional striptease on stage. This time, Lulu’s is taking inspiration from Old Shanghai in the 1930s, when it was known as the Paris of the East.
The vibe leans into Art Deco grandeur with opulent fixtures draped in a sultry red, marbled countertops, and symmetrical patterns. The era was also defined by its almost sinister glamour. Think opium dens, the triad, glowing neon street signs, and smoky jazz clubs.
Signature Lulu’s Lounge entertainment

Part of what made Lulu’s Lounge so beloved was its regularly scheduled live performances. We are happy to report that these will also make a comeback! Live music, cabaret performances, burlesque shows, and drag showcases will unfold throughout the week.
Lulu’s Lounge will also bring back its Cafe Bizarre concept, where the parties are a maximalist lovers’ dream. Meanwhile, Oui Oui Cherie provides an intimate ladies’ night centred around cocktails and cabaret. If you aren’t done living the high life, swing by on Sundays for Encore, where you can enjoy dim sum and live jazz music.
An indulgent F&B programme

Following the Shanghai identity, the menu features dim sum and small plates that will take you through the night. Some highlights include the siu mai topped with Oscietra caviar and yuzu creme fraiche, and golden brioche Hong Kong prawn toast with prawn paste, tobiko, and chilli lime aioli.
Even Peking duck gets an elevated take here! After a slow render, duck is shredded and wrapped with mandarin pancakes, fermented plum sauce, cucumbers, and spring onion. There’s a crispy-skinned chicken we’re dying to try. After being air-dried for 24 hours, it’s served with ginger scallion oil and pickled chilli. And we can’t forget something spicy! The mala grilled fish skewers are marinated in Sichuan doubanjiang and fermented black bean before they’re cooked and topped with chilli oil and fried shallots.
We’re also excited for the bar programme. It’s created in collaboration with Bobby Carey and Tom Hogan of Studio Ryecroft, previously from the bar consultancy, Proof & Company, which worked on Manhattan and Atlas.
The cocktail menu reimagines timeless cocktails with classic Chinese ingredients like Buddha’s hand, long pepper, salted lemon, and dark soy sauce. And yes, spirits like baijiu and osmanthus wine will be making appearances!
Keep an eye out for this one: we’ll be back with more news about Lulu’s Lounge opening in Singapore soon.
