The average costs of a wedding venue in Bali
Here’s the question everyone asks first (I certainly did). The honest answer: it varies wildly, from a few thousand dollars for an intimate villa celebration, to six figures for a full resort buyout. As a rough guide, boutique villa weddings tend to sit between US$5,000 and US$12,000. A resort wedding for 50 guests is usually US$15,000 to US$40,000. The island’s most luxurious estates and chapels can climb well beyond the US$50,000 mark.

The hidden costs of getting married in Bali
Now for the fine print no one tells you about. Quotes in Bali come as either “net” (all-in) or “++”, which means a 15–21% government tax and service charge added on top. Always check in advance. Villa and private estate weddings usually carry a banjar fee too: a contribution of around US$200–500 to the local village council. And most venues enforce a sound curfew of 10pm or 11pm, so if you’re planning to dance until dawn, ask about the music cut-off before you sign anything (this is exactly why Da Maria’s 2am after-parties and The Seed’s sound-proof basement make the cut on this list).
The best time to get married in Bali
Bali’s dry season is from April to October, and that’s when you’ll want to say your “I dos”. Think clear skies, golden sunsets, and lawns that stay dry underfoot. The best time is between April and June, then September to October, when the weather is still nice and venues are slightly easier to book compared to the July-August peak. The wet season (November to March) can bring dramatic storms, so if your heart’s set on an outdoor celebration, avoid this period.
Two more dates for your diary: popular venues book out 12 to 18 months in advance for dry-season weekends, so start enquiring early. And steer clear of Nyepi, Bali’s sacred Day of Silence in March/April, when the entire island (including the airport) shuts down for 24 hours.

- Start with your guest count. It rules venues in or out faster than anything else. An intimate party of 30 is much easier to accommodate compared to a 300-strong celebration, which needs a resort or event space built for scale.
- Then choose your backdrop. Clifftop in Uluwatu, toes-in-the-sand in Jimbaran, or total privacy at an estate like The Seed.
- Set your budget. Factor in hidden costs like tax and service charge, the banjar fee, and extras like styling, entertainment and transport.
- Weigh up what’s included. A fully-serviced venue like Tirtha Bali or The Ungasan handles planning, styling and catering in-house. A blank-canvas space like Wonderland Uluwatu or The Seed gives you freedom, but also a to-do list of bringing in your own vendors.
Questions to ask every wedding venue in Bali
The list above covers the venues I’ve shortlisted, but for your own research (and before you sign anything), be sure to ask these four key questions:
- What time is the sound curfew? Most venues cut the music at 10pm, so if you’re planning a late night dance floor, this matters.
- Is the price inclusive of tax and service? A “++” quote means 15–21% gets added on top, which can be a nasty surprise on a big bill.
- What exactly is included? Some quotes cover planning, styling and catering. Others are venue hire only, with florals, sound systems and even rain cover charged separately.
- Are there restrictions on outside vendors? Some venues require you to use in-house caterers, and many charge a corkage fee if you bring your own alcohol.
