From one-bedroom rentals to private pool family villas right on the beach, these are the best villas in Sanur, picked by a long-time resident.
While most visitors know Sanur for its calm beaches and beachfront resorts, I’ve discovered that some of the neighbourhood’s best places to stay are tucked away behind quiet lanes and leafy gardens. From luxury beachfront villas with private pools to family-friendly stays just steps from the beach, Sanur has some of Bali’s best-value private villas.
Unlike Seminyak or Canggu, Sanur isn’t about flashy beach clubs or all-night parties. It’s slower, greener and refreshingly laid-back. Days here revolve around sunrise walks along the beachfront boardwalk, long lunches at local cafes and afternoons by your own private pool. That’s exactly why I love living here.
I’ve called Sanur home for years, and between my own stays and recommendations from family and friends, I’ve explored many of the area’s best villas firsthand. Whether you’re planning a romantic escape, a family holiday or a large group getaway, these are the Sanur villas I’d genuinely recommend booking.
Why trust this guide
I’m Vici, and I’ve called Sanur home since 2006. Over nearly two decades, I’ve watched the neighbourhood evolve from a sleepy fishing village into one of Bali’s most liveable beach towns. Every villa in this guide has either been personally visited by me or recommended by trusted family and friends who live here. I’ve selected them for their location, comfort, service, design and overall value, so you know which ones are worth booking. Welcome to my ‘hood!
Where to stay in Sanur, by area
You can generally divide Sanur into two halves: the east side of Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai, and the west side. The east is where tourists love to stay, as it’s the beach side of the neighbourhood. This means that you’ll be within walking distance of the shore, larger beachfront resorts, most of the top restaurants, Sindhu Night Market, boutiques and souvenir shops in Sanur.
Meanwhile, the west side of Sanur is mostly occupied by local and expat residents living in Bali for a longer period of time. You’ll generally find more affordable villas and local warungs in this area.

The best private pool villas in Sanur, Bali
1. Villa Cemara
A rare absolute beachfront Sanur villa where you can wake up and step straight onto the sand.

There aren’t many private villas in Sanur that sit directly on the beach, which is exactly why Villa Cemara is so special. It’s sheltered behind tropical gardens on Sanur’s southern coastline, and this five-bedroom villa opens straight onto the beachfront boardwalk, so your morning coffee can come with sunrise views over the ocean. The design feels timeless too, with traditional Balinese pavilions, breezy open-air living spaces and plenty of room for everyone to spread out.
The private swimming pool overlooks the beach, while a full team of staff (including a private cook) means you barely have to lift a finger throughout your stay. And with Sanur’s best restaurants just a stroll away, it’s easy to swap pool time for long beachfront lunches whenever you feel like it.
Best for: Family holidays and a show-stopping beachfront getaway.
Good to know: Absolute beachfront villas in Sanur are incredibly rare, so this is one of the area’s most exclusive stays.
Local tip: Start your morning with a sunrise walk or cycle along the beachfront boardwalk before breakfast – it’s one of the best things about staying here.
How many bedrooms: 5 bedrooms.
Price per night: From IDR 16,000,000.
Address: Jl. Cemara Semawang, Sanur
2. Manu Villas
Luxury villas in Sanur with wellness facilities, private pools and thoughtful family-friendly details.

Hidden on the quieter end of Sanur – tucked between Mertasari Beach and Sanur’s best cafes and restaurants – Manu Villas only opened in 2026, yet it’s already one of my favourites. It’s home to two effortlessly luxe properties: the five-bedroom Manu Gede and four-bedroom Manu Made. They can be booked separately or together, with private pools, wellness facilities and family-friendly nooks throughout.
I stayed in the larger Manu Gede, waking up to quiet mornings by the pool before braving the ice bath and open-air gym. But what I loved most was how intuitive the villa felt. As it turns out, it was designed by parents, and it really shows. The family-friendly details are incredibly thoughtful, from the bunk room that connects directly to the master bedroom, to the child-sized bathtub with an adjoining shower so parents can keep an eye on little ones.
Unlike many Bali villas, the spacious living and dining area is fully air-conditioned, which is perfect for those hot afternoons or long family dinners. Daily housekeeping and attentive staff top it all off, while the infrared sauna, tropical gardens and breezy indoor-outdoor design means there’s always an excuse for some well-deserved downtime. I also like that sustainability has been built into the design, with solar panels and clever architecture to keep the villas naturally cool.
More than anything, Manu Villas feels like a home – one that just so happens to be exceptionally beautiful.
Best for: Family holidays, group getaways and wellness-focused stays in Sanur.
Good to know: Choose the four-bedroom Manu Made or five-bedroom Manu Gede, or book both together for a nine-bedroom estate with bunk rooms for children and teenagers.
Local tip: The villas are managed by The Luxe Nomad, meaning you’re in great hands, from booking right through to check-out.
How many bedrooms: 4, 5 or 9 bedrooms.

Location-wise, you’re only a short stroll from Sanur Beach and the boardwalk, while plenty of cafes, restaurants and gelato stops are within easy walking distance too. It’s private enough to feel tucked away, yet close enough that you won’t need to call a taxi for most of your stay.

Local tip: Walk down to the beachfront early, then grab breakfast at one of the cafes along the boardwalk.

Hidden away in a leafy corner of Sanur, it comes with its own swimming pool, a bright open-plan living area and a fully equipped kitchen, making it easy to settle in for a few days (or longer).
The interiors blend contemporary design with handcrafted Indonesian furnishings, while thoughtful extras like a coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine and even an air fryer make it feel more like a home than a holiday rental.
It’s also well set up for little ones, with baby equipment available on request, while the complimentary bicycles make it easy to explore Sanur’s beach path, cafes and boutiques without needing a car. The master bedroom also includes an extra single bed, making it ideal for families with young children.
Best for: Small families looking for a private villa in the heart of Sanur.
