We’ve got the scoop on the most secretive theatrical adventure to land in Singapore, but you’ll have to keep it quiet… shhh
We’ve been developing an appetite for immersive, theatrical feasts here in Singapore, but something epic is coming our way. Come this May, get into character and escape the humdrum of real life with the Secret Theatre Project — the UK-based theatre company is delivering its unique style of interactive theatre from 3 May. An undisclosed location, a sexy set and an electrifying ride where you can be part of the narrative? This is one ambitious immersive theatre you won’t want to miss. Just saying: tickets to opening night have already sold out.
It’s no ordinary evening with the guys from the Secret Theatre Project. The creative collective does a kickass job at giving drama buffs the best interactive theatre experience and is known for sell-out international shows from London to Los Angeles, New York to Hong Kong.
Previous productions include Edward Scissorhands in New York, Reservoir Dogs in London and SE7EN Deadly Sins on a speedboat and a rundown mansion on Hong Kong’s LAMMA island — hell yes. Gearing up for the next adventure in Singapore, founder and artistic director Richard Crawford has something epic up his sleeves, but is, of course, tight-lipped about it. Oh, don’t we love a good secret!
Playing around the idea of breaking the fourth wall and blurring the lines between audience and performer, participants are thrown into the pit without knowing who’s acting and who’s for real, intensifying the immersive experience. But if you’re all about standing out from the crowd, then you’re at the right gig. These productions are all about interactivity, so it’s important to get involved and engage with other participants, or it’ll just fall flat. Heads up: expect things to get physical.
So what is the play about and where is it held? Well, we can’t tell you any more, but we suspect it’s (a) going to be based on a cult classic and (b) somewhere in central Singapore. You’ll only find out more when you purchase your ticket — then you’ll get a location, a password and a dress code. It’s called Secret Theatre for a reason… any more details will just ruin the fun!
But if you’re dying to know, here’s an exclusive sneak peek:
The Secret Theatre Project Singapore, 3 May – 10 June 2018, weekdays 7.30pm-9.30pm, weekends 4.45pm-6.45pm and 7.30pm-9.45pm, undisclosed location. Tickets to Secret Theatre are available here.
