What is MilkyShop?

Hailing from Seoul’s trendy Seongsu-dong district, the bakery specialises in American retro-inspired goodies, with doughnuts and pies among its offerings. MilkyShop’s Butter Sand treats have since become its signature product, helping propel the shop’s popularity.
On top of operating 11 outlets across South Korea, the brand launched a successful pop-up in Hong Kong late last year, with two new stores running since March 2026. MilkyShop’s foray into Singapore marks its second overseas market (and first in Southeast Asia), which means local fans can get their hands on the sweets without flying to Korea.
What is the Butter Sand?

While butter sand cookies aren’t new, MilkyShop’s take has made it a must-buy, gaining plenty of attention on social media platforms like Xiaohongshu. They’re made with crisp biscuits sandwiching smooth, butter-based fillings. The team advises keeping them in the freezer to retain their freshness and flavour.
For the best bite, let the butter sand cookies come to room temperature for around 15 minutes before tucking in. Those who prefer slightly firmer biscuits and an ice cream-like texture can enjoy them after 10 minutes.
MilkyShop lands in Singapore with four flavours. The creme brulee butter sand is arguably the star of the line-up, featuring a crackly layer of caramelised sugar on top. I find it overwhelmingly sweet – the kind where one piece per day is enough.

Matcha fans will enjoy the matcha butter sand, with its tea-forward flavours. I’m not a fan of the subtle bitterness, though the cookie pairs well with a glass of milk. For something more indulgent, the rich peanut butter sand delivers full-bodied nutty flavours. Think of it as a peanut butter sandwich, except with biscuits instead of bread.
If you’re new to the brand, I’d say the milk caramel butter sand is a solid introduction. It’s creamy but not cloying, similar to vanilla ice cream. It’s probably my favourite out of the four – I’m basic, what can I say…
Where is the pop-up located?

Fans and curious cats can get a taste of MilkyShop’s butter sand cookies at its pop-up in New Bahru, aka Singapore’s buzzy lifestyle destination, from now till 2 January 2027. The pop-up is located at the Level 1 atrium of the Factory Block and is open from 11am to 9pm daily.
Only 250 boxes will be available daily, so pop by early if you don’t want to miss out. P.S. The matcha flavour comes with seven pieces, while the rest come with eight butter sand cookies.
