Lady Gaga returns to Singapore with a chaotic, glittery, and high-octane show – the first in a series of concerts here. Our wigs are still in orbit.
After 13 long years, Lady Gaga is finally back in Singapore for a series of concerts as part of her promotional tour for her latest album, Mayhem. Taking place on 18, 19, 21, and 24 May at the National Stadium – her only Asian stop – fans from around the region (and beyond) descended on our little red dot to catch Mother Monster in her element. I caught her first sold-out show last night, and to sum it up, this wasn’t just a concert – it was a full-blown cultural event.
Lady Gaga in concert: Her first Singapore show in years was a pop spectacle
It was a quarter past eight when the lights dimmed, the music blasted, and the National Stadium erupted. As the show began, fans jumped to their feet, screamed their lungs out, and rode the high. Gaga appeared on stage in a towering red dress and kicked off the show with Bloody Mary, a track from her Born This Way release (and yes, the one TikTok resurrected). She looked like a dystopian goddess and a haunted fashion doll in one.
Now, let’s get one thing out of the way before going further. If you’ve seen clips from Coachella, you already know the vibes: moody visuals and a costume budget that could fund a Marvel movie. But here’s the gag: Gaga performs like she’s got something to prove. (She doesn’t. She’s just that good.)

The two-hour spectacle is a fever dream of dance, drama, and drag-level commitment. Think Shakespearean tragedy meets fashion editorial, with razor-sharp choreography and a narrative that channels Gaga’s past, present, and future. Across four acts, the exhilarating show unfolds with massive set pieces (Gaga in a sand pit! A piano covered with skulls!) and costumes that won’t look out of place in an Alexander McQueen catalogue.
Is the production over the top? Duh, but we’ve come to expect that from Mother Monster. My companion, a first-timer to a show of this scale, walked out thoroughly impressed. They’re still gagged over all the grandeur.
If I had to choose, I’d say the first act is my favourite. From the looks to the song selection, everything fell into place and showcased Gaga at her most potent: theatrical, high-octane, and unapologetically herself.
Her voice? Flawless. Her power? Unmatched.

“Is she lip-synching?” my companion jokingly asked, as we could barely hear heavy breathing between songs. Yes, she sang live and left no crumbs. That’s another thing you can expect from Lady Gaga: vocal dexterity. She breezily powered through the setlist – intense dance sequences, being lifted, and jumping around – without wavering.
Speaking of dancing, Gaga proved she could keep up with the choreography and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with her backup dancers. The petite popstar has fibromyalgia, a chronic illness causing muscle pain, tenderness, and fatigue. But if her condition was in the room, she had it under control… or bent to her will.

Throughout the concert, Gaga displayed a ferocity that’s true to her brand. (The bit where she gutturally instructed us to scream? Shivers down my spine.) There were moments, however, where the veil dropped and Mother showed a tenderness, particularly in her declaration of love for our city and her fans. Before performing Alejandro, Gaga unfurled the Singapore flag from where she stood before giving a heartfelt speech about being back after 13 years.
“I love it here so much,” she told the over 47,000-strong crowd. Cue screams and cries.

Mother Monster may be serving and slaying, but her fans ate it all up and dished out seconds! While most concert attendees turned up in safe sartorial combos (tees and jeans or shorts), some went above and beyond in dressing up.
I spotted folks in fascinating fits, from music video looks to iconic tour costumes. Lady Gagita, a Filipino fan who dressed in an almost spot-on recreation of Gaga’s opening act look, earned a hug from the superstar herself during Vanish Into You – a moment that sent the crowd into full meltdown mode and is now viral on social media.
Haus of Gaga came, saw, and slayed the National Stadium

Gaga ended the show with the iconic Bad Romance, and before it was two hours later when I finally looked at the time. Mother Monster exited the stage after an adorable farewell, and the lights came back on. Everyone looked like they had just stepped out of a rollercoaster – in the best way possible.
Thirteen years is a long time, and Little Monsters are a patient lot. Is it worth the wait? The only right answer is a monstrous yes. This wasn’t just another concert. It was a glitter-drenched, high-art, intergalactic pop culture baptism. Lady Gaga came to Singapore, leaving no soul un-snatched and no wig unsecured.
If this is the kind of work she’s presenting for Mayhem, the album’s live debut proves it’s more than just a promo cycle. It’s an evolution in the Haus of Gaga, and the fans are already on board.
Tips for attending Lady Gaga’s concert in Singapore

If you’re attending any (or all) of her concerts, here are some things to take note of:
- Make sure to get your tickets from authorised sellers. Limited tickets are still available on Ticketmaster.
- Travel light by packing only essentials: a poncho or an umbrella, a power bank, and a fan. Oh, don’t forget your earplugs! Better yet, go bagless so that you can clear the security check faster.
- Avoid driving as parking spaces are limited. (Or you can park at Kallang or Tanjong Rhu and walk to the National Stadium.) Concert attendees are recommended to take the bus or MRT. P.S. There are free shuttle buses to Jurong East and Tampines after the show. Head to Gate 14 for the pick-up points.
- Bring cashless payment methods for merch or food. Queues for both will be long, so set aside plenty of time.
- Dress up! Many fans are sticking to a black colour palette to match the Mayhem era, but feel free to add your own flair. Otherwise, go all out and pick your favourite Gaga look to wear.
