Add these top food stalls to your list when you visit this year’s edition of the Kampong Glam Ramadan Bazaar.
The fasting month is fast approaching, and you know what that means… Ramadan bazaars are coming back in full swing! At Kampong Glam, around 80 stalls have set up shop to hawk mouthwatering dishes and refreshing drinks from now till 5 April 2024. Titled Gemilang Kampong Gelam (meaning ‘glorious Kampong Gelam’), this edition of Kampong Glam Ramadan Bazaar opens from 2pm to 11pm daily. We’ve scoured the area to find the best bites so you know where to go.
The best food stalls at Kampong Glam Ramadan Bazaar 2024
1. Yoda-ebak!
If you must have rice for every meal, drop by this booth and get your hands on the sushi bake. The flavour selection includes spicy tuna, mentai, and unagi. One tray ($12) can feed up to two people, which is perfect for small eaters. Plus, it’s a hassle-free meal, which is great if you plan to move around the bazaar a lot.
Yoda-ebak, Booth K9, Kandahar Street
2. Tebuuuu
There are many ways to beat Singapore’s heat – one of which is to cool down with a refreshing cup of sugarcane juice. This booth presents the drink in fruity flavours ($6.50), including tried-and-tested faves like lemon and calamansi. If you’re the adventurous sort, we recommend trying the Ramadan specials. The Assam Boi is a piquant combo that had us reaching for the straw repeatedly.
Tebuuuu, Booth K26, Kandahar Street
3. Meatmymeat
Feeling absolutely famished after a long day of fasting, work, or even both? Hit up this Muslim-owned business. Sink your teeth into hearty proteins served with a side of fries. Take your pick from mozza buffalo cheesesteak ($12.90), Chicago chicken cheesesteak ($9.90), American djon hotdog ($7.90), and more. If you just want fries, go for the spicy seaweed ($6.90).
Meatmymeat, Booth K22, Kandahar Street
4. Nak Tahu Tak?
When translated from Malay, this stall asks if you want to know something. So, here’s some trivia about me: I go absolutely feral for tahu bagedil (a combination of potato, tofu, and minced beef). When I spotted it on this stall’s menu from a distance (from $5 to $14), you best believe I ran like my life depended on it. If that’s not your thing (you’re missing out, tbh), go for the otah-otah ($4.50 for five pieces and $8 for 10) or traditional fish crackers with spice soy sauce (from $6).
Nak Tahu Tak?, Booth MS6/7, Muscat Street
5. Ashes Burnnit
This local brand is making waves in New York City, and we’re mighty pleased that it’s bringing the sizzle to this year’s Kampong Glam Ramadan Bazaar. Indulge in the charcoal roti john (from $10), which looks too appetising to pass up. Those who prefer the brand’s standard offerings will be happy to know they can also enjoy its burgers (from $10) here. Wash everything down with a butterscotch latte ($7) before going your merry way.
Ashes Burnnit, Booth BS3, Baghdad Street
6. Gaosyp x Offday Coffee
Parched after all that running around? Our solution is to swing by this booth, which offers beverages with a unique twist. Think flavours like watermelon milk, Solero (yes, like the ice cream), and iced pandan milk tea (all priced at $6.50). If you need a caffeine boost to get you through the rest of the night, pop over next door for typical coffee drinks (from $4). Otherwise, sample the pink matcha ($8) – Offday’s take on the viral strawberry match.

7. Satay Ummi
This is another fuss-free meal to take note of, especially when you’re hangry and want something in your stomach asap. Satay-sfy your meat skewer craving at this stall, where skewers are pan-fried immediately after you order. Each satay goreng (from $10) comes with rice cakes, sliced onions, and umami peanut sauce. You can get extra ketupat or gravy for an additional dollar.
Satay Ummi, Booth K42, Kandahar Street
8. Loco Loco
Here’s another stall you must check out at Kampong Glam’s Ramadan 2024 bazaar. Specialising in delectable finger food, Loco Loco’s menu features fries tossed with cajun spice ($6) or topped with chilli crab ($7), churros ($6), and takoyaki (from $7). Is decision-making not your strongest suit? We suggest going for the churros or takoyaki platters, which come in three flavours ($22 for one, $40 for both).
Loco Loco, Booth K39, Kandahar Street
9. Frank On Wheels
Does size matter to you? You’ll love this stall along Baghdad Street, which peddles Korean BBQ-inspired gourmet hot dogs. A glance at its menu shows interesting fusions like dendeng chilli beef ($12.90), truffle egg mayo ($11.90), and cheesy crab ($12.90). Consider getting the halal smokey fries, which are making their rounds on social media. Gimmick aside, we enjoyed how filling they were.
Frank On Wheels, Booth BS4, Baghdad Street
10. Bujang Balik
No bazaar experience is complete without indulging in sweet delights. Don’t miss the opportunity to try this booth’s apam balik (turnover pancake), which can be made with pandan, mocha, or rainbow batter. Filling choices include peanut, Nutella, cheese, and more. We’re not lying when we say we devoured the Durian Royale ($15).
Bujang Balik, Booth MS15, Muscat Street
11. Picanhas’
You can’t miss this food truck, which makes its return to this year’s edition. Fill up on pulled picanhas slathered in chilli con carne, sauteed onions, and nacho cheese sauce in a pita for $15. Or, splurge on an $18 plate of steak and mash for a hundred grams of perfectly tender picanhas steak accompanied by binchotan butter and tempura flakes. Mmm, heaven.
Picanhas’, Booth K44, Kandahar Street
12. Ramly Burger
This pasar malam staple is a must-have if you’re craving a classic treat. Get your Ramly burgers (one for $4.50, three for $12) served with beef, chicken, or fish patties and drowned in sauces. The ones we had were incredibly tender and delightfully messy – just the way they should be!
Ramly Burger, Booth K25, Kandahar Street
What else can you expect at Kampong Glam Ramadan Bazaar?
13. A spectacular light show on the weekends
Stick around after 7.30pm from Fridays to Sundays for an epic light show at the Sultan Mosque. This interactive experience is in conjunction with the iconic landmark’s bicentennial celebration and features stories about the mosque from the past 200 years.
14. Participate in a mass iftar event
If you have nothing to do on 23 March, you’re welcome to soak in the Ramadan spirit by partaking in a mass iftar event along Arab Street. Tables will be open for sale, and part of the proceeds will be directed to Sultan Mosque and its beneficiary groups.
15. Don’t stop the music!
What’s a Ramadan bazaar without good music? Performances by music acts such as Tomok, Alif Satar, Nabilah Huda, and Taufik Batisah will occur weekly at Arab Street and Baghdad Street. You can also sit down and pay attention to pilgrimage talk shows, cooking shows, and live podcasts hosted by Sujimy Muhammad.
16. Explore Sultan Gate Park
This might be a challenge during the Ramadan season, but we encourage you to take your eyes off the food and admire the art exhibition at Sultan Gate Park. There are three arch designs, each detailing stories about Kampong Gelam and how they have shaped the neighbourhood today. Scan the QR codes to check out Heritage Chronicles, a web series that’s an extension of the exhibition.
After admiring the arch designs, stick around Sultan Gate Park to soak in the ambience and catch screenings of local documentaries and web series covering travel, taboo topics, and horror content.
