A pampering spa sesh doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. The proof? These spas offer affordable facials, massages and more.
If you’ve got a weakness for mind-melting massages, relaxing facials and invigorating scrubs, we’d hardly blame you for splurging on regular spa seshes. But here’s the good news if you’re addicted to pampering: Singapore has its fair share of affordable stellar spas. Keep reading for a full lowdown on where to go for pocket-friendly facials, rubdowns, wraps and jacuzzi baths (most of the treatments listed are priced at $100 and below – score!).
Nimble/Knead

Hard to believe this is a spa! Befitting of its hipster surrounds, the quaint, industrial-chic décor of Nimble/Knead in Tiong Bahru reminds us more of a café. Built from shipping containers, its cool use of lighting and chairs made out of wooden crates (don’t worry – you’re not being massaged on them) is great for jaded folks looking for an alternative spa experience. Pop by for an hour’s worth of Thai or Balinese massage ($76) after brunch.
Nimble/Knead, Tiong Bahru Estate, 66 Eng Watt Street, Singapore 160066, p. 6438 3933
Feet Haven
The award-winning Feet Haven is clearly not your everyday spa — it’s tricked out with cool lighting (hanging light bulbs and standing spotlights galore) and quirky furniture. Spacious and cosy, the value-for-money spa is staffed by experienced masseurs who will make your feet feel brand new. Great for a quick pop-in when you’re knackered after cafe-hopping around the Katong area – an hour’s body massage will only set you back $68.

Natureland

No fuss, no frills. Natureland receives top marks for its rejuvenating massages. We’d recommend the 5-in-1 therapy ($58.85) for a mind-melting head-to-toe massage for your head, shoulders, neck, hands and feet. If you’re popping in on your lunch break, the 30-minute 4-in-1 therapy ($40.66) does the trick of easing your knots and relieving tension.

SG Face
The secret’s out: SG Face is our favourite hideout for wallet-friendly facials. You’re getting a major deal here; prices are incredibly reasonable for top-notch treatments targeted towards those with clogged, acne-prone or sensitive skin. You can rest easy if you’re opting for extractions – the beauty salon only uses gentle yet skilful methods to guarantee your comfort. Try the Deep Cleansing Facial ($58 for 60 mins for first-timers) – one bonus is that the staff don’t skimp on the products if your skin really needs the treat.

Healing Touch

Though well known for its massages ($55 and above), Healing Touch also dabbles in facials for all types, including acne-prone, sensitive and mature skin. Trial offers are only priced at $38 (not inclusive of GST). Also on the menu are body scrubs for skin renewal ($35) and slimming treatments ($38) which “melts” fats through the use of multi-diode paddles.

Rule of Thumb
You’re guaranteed total relaxation at Rule of Thumb. All of its 60-minute massages are offered at pocket-friendly prices (with the exception of the hot stone) from $60 to $75. Rejuvenating rubdowns aside, the spa also offers healing therapies, including traditional cupping methods to rid the body of toxins and excess fluid. Its location in the Kampong Glam district is also a major plus in our books – treat yourself to a lavish nasi padang meal nearby before taking a well-deserved nap here.

Hands + Feet Studio

Hands + Feet Studio isn’t just a spiffy place to get your nails done. Massage services (full body from $60 for 60 minutes) here are top-notch, and geared towards improving blood pressure. Head to the Gallery Room – here, therapists work magic on your aching soles ($40 for 60 minutes) as you recline on a plush arm chair with a glossy mag. If you’re really time-strapped, you can even get your manicure fix and massage done at the same time.

Vintage Spa
“Ah and ah” doesn’t have to come at hefty prices – just ask Vintage Spa. The rustic boutique spa offers an extensive menu of treatments, including anti-stress and deep tissue massages (from $78 for an hour), body polishing scrubs (from $38) to chocolate facials ($148). Le Spa

Worked late and need a rubdown ASAP? You’ll be saved by Le Spa, a 24-hour sanctuary which offers massages as well as scrubs, cupping and detox treatments. Settle in for a classic Balinese or Swedish body massage ($60 for 60 minutes), and finish with a renewing scrub ($18 as an add on).

Afond Spa
Conveniently located at South Bridge Road, Afond Spa is best known for its couple treatments – think sea salt or mandi lulur (milk bath) jacuzzi baths ($104.86) and ensual floral massages ($149.80). But we love clearing out our day for alone time here – the aroma sense facial ($128.40) brings radiance back to our skin, while the 20-minute scalp massage ($32.10) relieves the frequent migraines often faced by desk-bound workers.
