This weekend brunch at Tanjong Pagar rolls out Turkish scrambled eggs (menemen), falafel Scotch eggs, and unique Bloody Marys and Turkish coffee that’ll wake you up
We’ve yapped about Japanese brunches before, and even shed light on this Argentinian brunch you must try. But a Middle Eastern brunch? Now that’s something that’s piqued our curiosities on this week’s Brunch to Munch.

Flying the flag high for exotic Middle Eastern cuisine is Fat Prince and The Ottoman Room – the latter even clinched a coveted spot on our Hot 50 Tables list – and it’s just joined the brunch bunch with these weekend offerings. The Turkish fried dough ($14) promises to be a potent morning perk-me-up with accompaniments of sour cherry jam, soft maple halva, and hazelnut chocolate for the sweet tooths. A big eater? Then the Modern Turkish Breakfast ($21) will fill you up while giving you a taste of Istanbul, with its warm Turkish cheeses, melon, urfa and grilled bread.

But hold up; what’s brunch without eggs, right? Another sinful dish to gobble up – especially if you can’t resist eggs for brunch – is the Falafel Scotch Egg ($22) that comes with a fig and fennel salad. Alternatively, try the roasted mushroom menemen ($23) or Cyprus pork sausage menemen ($26) – both are traditional Turkish renditions of scrambled eggs. We suggest bringing along your whole posse for this brunch, because groups of eight or more can enjoy a set menu for just $45++ per person.

Boozy brunchers, we didn’t forget about you either. If more booze is your solution to a weekend’s hangover, then opt for Fat Prince and The Ottoman Room’s free-flow brunch for $68++ per person, where you’ll have two hours of all-you-can-drink beer, sparkling wine, and white or red wine (food will be ordered a la carte at a separate cost). Otherwise, try their Moroccan Mary ($18) that enhances your typical Bloody Mary recipe with harissa and za’atar salt; or have a double whammy of caffeine and alcohol with their Hard Turkish Coffee ($20) – an espresso martini with gold rum and chocolate and coffee liqueur. If all this doesn’t wake you up, we don’t know what will.
