Techno and house music on a Mississippi riverboat ’til morning? We’ll be breaking a (sea)leg at this booze cruise on 14 April
Drunken sailors, The Council demands your presence. I’m not going into detail as to why these folks are arguably the hippest party promoters in town, but let me just say that they’ve upped the ante once more by taking the shenanigans out to sea.
For this jaunt, they’ve teamed up with the team from Bandwagon – one of Singapore’s most respected portals for local music news – to throw a booze cruise on a Mississippi riverboat on Good Friday. The latter has done this before in the past, but usually showcased a chunkier ensemble of live acts. But with the help of The Council, this looks set to be an all-night marathon of underground house and techno – from 10pm ’til sunrise; yes, sunrise.
Aside from a crackin’ crew of Singapore-based DJs – including The Council’s own residents, Cats On Crack and Julien Brochard; trailblazing hotshots like Maurice Simon; and veterans such as Brendon P, Huntersson and Ulysses – this maritime bash (the boat, however, remains docked) is also roping in Boris Rubin from Bangkok, and headliners Oblique Industries all the way from Germany. From the deep and techy, to the hard and mellow; these grooves will certainly get you going if dance music floats your boat.
p.s. We hear there’s even an ‘A&W’-inspired menu featuring coney dogs and curly fries, and a buffet breakfast (additional $10 charge) to reward you morning troopers.
Sunrise on the Bandwagon Riverboat, 14 April, 10pm-10am, Stewords Riverboat, Berth 1 Marina South Pier, 31 Marina Coastal Drive, Singapore 018988. Tickets available from this website.
