Cassegrain: 7 April at Headquarters by The Council
Those craving a gnarly techno trip can always rely on one hideout in Singapore: Headquarters by The Council. This April, they’ve lined up the duo of Cassegrain all the way from Berlin (doesn’t get more legit than that). With their squelching synths and desolate yet dynamite beats, these two will surely make your techno quota of the week.
The Council presents Cassegrain, 7 April, Headquarters by The Council, Lvl 2, 66 Boat Quay, Singapore 049854. $20 before midnight, $30 after midnight.
Brennan Heart: 7 April at Zouk Singapore
Tropical house and big-room are powerhouse genres that seem to dominate EDM-favouring clubs. But for a supercharged sound that never gets old, we’ll happily take on hardstyle anytime! Keeping the hardstyle movement alive are risk-takers like Brennan Heart, and he’ll prove why there’s no genre more ferocious with his monstrous beats, blistering tempos and stuttering synth hooks.
One Dance with Brennan Heart, 7 April, Zouk Singapore, 3C River Valley Road, The Cannery, Singapore 179022, p. 6738 2988. Entry at $30 (for women) and $35 (for men).
Rootikal Jam: 8 April at Montreux Jazz Cafe
A reggae bashment in a jazz club? Indeed, you have our attention. Montreux Jazz Café has been consistently turning heads since its inception, playing host to everything from Poptart’s indie riots to Good Times’ bass-forward boogies. And now, selectors from reggae collective, Dub Skank’in Hifi Soundsystem, will be taking over with ska and dancehall goodies.

RAC: 8 April at OverEasy Orchard
Blurring the lines between indie and dance music is Portugal’s André Allen Anjos. Going by alias, RAC – which stands for Remix Artist Collective – the hipster favourite is aptly known for his upbeat, melody-driven edits of popular indie anthems, having reworked everyone from Phoenix and Foster The People, to Washed Out and The Temper Trap.
RAC, 8 April, OverEasy Orchard, #01-01 Liat Towers, 541 Orchard Road, Singapore 238881, p. 6684 1453. Tickets at $33 (standard) and $40 (at door).
Aqua Beats: 8 April at Adventure Cove Waterpark
A bash with loads of splash, Aqua Beats is a newcomer to the local festival circuit organised by Club 9 at Adventure Cove Waterpark. A roster of model DJs will be (wo)manning the decks with EDM thumpers, including Thailand’s DJ FaahSai and Singapore’s very own Jade Rasif. And if you need to cool off from all that shuffling, dive into one of the park’s numerous water rides – all water slides will be open ’til 3am!
Aqua Beats, 8 April, Adventure Cove Waterpark, Resorts World Sentosa, 8 Sentosa Gateway, Singapore 098269. Tickets available here.
Noon To Moon – Electro Daytime Open-Air with Goldroom: 8 April at CÉ LA VI
Clearly not resting on their laurels after yet another ambitious Garden Beats Festival, Sunshine Nation now takes their party shenanigans from the fields of Fort Canning to the rooftop of Marina Bay Sands. Headlining this scenic show at CÉ LA VI will be none other than nu-disco maverick, Goldroom, and his signature sunny sounds.

DJ Tennis: 8 April at Kilo Lounge
Serving melodic synths and smashing dense beats onto dancefloors worldwide, DJ Tennis is one tech-house veteran who’s an absolute pro. His emotive set at ZoukOut 2015 last gave us goosebumps, so we’re already bracing ourselves for the ride that’s coming our way at Kilo Lounge.
After Dark presents DJ Tennis, 8 April, Kilo Lounge, 21 Tanjong Pagar Road, Singapore 088444. $20 at the door.
Guilty Pleasures – The British Invasion: 13 April at OverEasy Orchard
There is no such thing as shame when it comes to OverEasy Orchard’s throwback parties, and for this edition, it’s set to bring some anarchy from the UK. Whether your go-to karaoke hymn is “Karma Police” from Radiohead, “Yellow Submarine” from The Beatles, or even “Wannabe” from Spice Girls, this nostalgic shindig – manned by DJ KiDG – will make you feel right as rain.

Only Vinyl – The Fashion Revolution by Kampong: 22 April at Red Baron
Consistently throwing parties with a conscience – this series once had a pop-up rooftop fiesta above The Projector that touched on the issue of global warming – Kampong returns in April at Red Baron in Gillman Barracks, and it’s swerving its focus towards fashion. This vinyl-only jamboree, helmed by seven DJs all day (including Jeck Hyde, Vito, and Kentaro), ties in with Fashion Revolution Week this time ’round, addressing the topic of sustainable fashion and transparency in the industry.

The Bronx Anniversary: 28 April at Canvas
The hip-hop scene in Singapore is alive and kickin’, and it’s all thanks to trailblazing turntablists like the legendary Ollie Des. For 20 years, he’s been rolling and scratching and being a role model for other hip-hop upstarts in the game. This anniversary edition of The Bronx at Canvas pays homage to the icon, with the man himself laying out a masterclass of the genre.
The Bronx Anniversary feat. Ollie Des, 28 April, Canvas, The Riverwalk, #B1-01/06, 20 Upper Circular Road, Singapore 058416, p. 9169 3815. $20 (presale with one drink) and $30 (door price with one drink).
Bondax: 29 April at Millian Singapore
The last time this boyish duo swung by, the mosh that ensued was one of the maddest (and squeeziest) this writer had ever encountered, and for good reason. Bondax churns out a sensual, summery sound; slo-mo vocal house that’s perfect for both the beach and club. They return more mature, but still as appealing as ever with a bigger gig at Millian.
Moonbeats Asia presents Bondax, 29 April, Millian Singapore, #01-05 St. James Power Station, 3 Sentosa Gateway, Singapore 098544. Tickets available here.
