From charming bungalows tucked on quiet lanes, to beachfront stay with your own pool, these are the best villas in Sanur.
I live in Sanur, and the truth is, this isn’t the place to be for those seeking glamorous bars, glitzy beach clubs, or high-end boutiques and fine-dining restaurants. Instead, you’ll find laid-back beachfront resorts and Sanur villas that blend modern comfort with just enough elegant touches to give you the low-key kind of luxury.
And just like the neighbourhood itself, the very best villas in Sanur are all about great value for money, strategic locations, and charming Balinese design and architecture. These are my top villas in Sanur that I’d book as a local living in this chilled beach town.
Why trust this guide
I first moved to Sanur in 2006, so I know this neighbourhood like the back of my hand. This guide includes Sanur villas that I, or my family and friends, have personally checked into. I’ve handpicked them based on comfort, location, service, and value for money. Welcome to my ‘hood!
Where to stay in Sanur by area
You can generally divide Sanur into two halves: the east side of Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai (the main road connecting Sanur to the airport), and the west side. The east is where tourists love to stay, as it’s the beach side of the neighbourhood. This means that you’ll be within walking distance of the shore, larger beachfront resorts, most of the top restaurants, Sindhu Night Market, boutiques and souvenir shops in Sanur.
Meanwhile, the west side of Sanur is mostly occupied by local and expat residents living in Bali for a longer period of time. You’ll generally find more affordable villas and local warungs in this area.
