Step aside, pasta – rice noodles (aka mixian) are the king when it comes to carby staples in Hong Kong. So, let us share with you our very own go-to restaurants for mixian and rice noodles in Hong Kong.
Where to find the best rice noodles in Hong Kong
1. Brother Chicken
Tucked away in the famous hub of cheap eats, Camel Paint Building, Brother Chicken is one of our fave joints for mixian. Whenever the craving strikes, we go all out with the signature Fish Maw, Wonton, and Chicken Rice Noodles. In addition, the Mala Dan Dan Noodles, Chongqing Chilli Sauce Chicken Rice Noodles, and Dumplings in Chilli Oil are popular choices for those who like a bit of spice, too.

Add on snacks like Pork Neck, Steamed Chicken with Chilli Sauce, and Mala Pig’s Ear for a complete meal.

5. Yunnan Black Goat Rice Noodles

In many parts of Northern China (where the weather is constantly cool), lamb is a quintessential protein. So, if you’re finding Hong Kong’s winter temperatures a little too low to bear, warm up with a nourishing bowl of mixian from Yunnan Black Goat Rice Noodles. Obviously, lamb is the star of the menu. We’ve heard good things about the Beef Brisket Rice Noodles, but you can’t go wrong with the signature Lamb Rice Noodles – we think the gameyness is just right!

8. Tam Jai Yunnan Mixian and Tai Jai Sam Gor

While Tam Jai may not be as popular a rice noodle destination as it used to be, we think it’s still worth a spot on our list. As one of the OGs of Hong Kong’s rice noodle craze, Tam Jai Yunnan Mixian and its sister restaurant Tam Jai Sam Gor specialises in spicy mixian. You can customise everything here, from the spice level of your broth to toppings, to the amount of noodles. We love getting the Supreme Combo for sharing, but other offerings on the menu are sure to satisfy, too.
