Getting the good stuff at REVIV Hong Kong
I’ve seen multiple videos online of people receiving IV treatments to cure terrible hangovers, and I have always wanted to find out whether it was truly effective. Needles never terrified me and my sense of curiosity always got the best of me, so when REVIV Hong Kong invited us along to try out the IV treatments and booster shots I was definitely game.
Unlike blood exams where you can’t eat or drink, IV treatments and shots do not require any preparation beforehand. Walk into the white walled clinic that is reminiscent of a private doctor’s office and be met by two medical grade consultation rooms, a semi-private area with a view of the city and have professional registered nurses and nursing assistants that administer all shots.
I’ve always had problems when it comes to finding good veins on my arm, and I’ve often left the doctor’s office with four or more needle marks on both my forearms, so, when the nursing assistant at REVIV Hong Kong was able to find a vein on my forearm the first go, I was pleasantly surprised.
I received the Megaboost infusion which restores hydration, replenishes essential minerals and vitamins, detoxifies the body, boosting the immune system and overall energy levels. I also received a B12 intramuscular injection shot right underneath my hip, directly into my muscle – which I admit did hurt quite a bit. It aims to increase natural energy levels, regulate sleep, mood, appetite and boost the immune system.
IV treatments tend to cool down the body as the cold liquid is injected into the bloodstream, so I enjoyed a nice hot cup of tea, wrapped warmly in my blanket, and watched the beautiful and peaceful morning view. Within twenty minutes the liquid from the IV bag was gone, my arm bandaged up, and I was ready to go.
How’d it feel afterwards?
After the experience I did feel like I had a lot more energy. I felt happier and was inclined to walk back to the office, two MTR stops away. I also wanted to eat immediately and was overall just incredibly cheerful. I am not sure whether it was a placebo effect, but it’s most likely that my body was just enjoying being properly hydrated and energised from the IV treatments I received.
If I had been jetlagged or hungover before the injection, I imagine the difference in the way I felt after would have been even greater. However I think it is important to realise that each body is unique, and when receiving these shots everyone has different reactions.
