While many of us may not be able to go out right now, it's important to keep spirits high. These self-care tips that you can do at home will help
We love going out to meditation classes, yoga studios and for hiking in Hong Kong, but even if you can’t leave the house you can still practice positive vibes from the comfort of your apartment. If you’re looking for self-care tips that you can do at home, then you’ve come to the right place.
1. Take a nice long shower (or bath if you’re lucky enough to have one!)
Don’t underestimate the power of a shower. Break out your most luxurious bath and shower gel and use your finest shampoo and conditioner to achieve maximum satisfaction.
2. Raid your pantry for skincare products
Did you know that some of the best skincare products can be found in your very own kitchen? Grab your coconut oil and your green tea and get pampering. This story on skincare products you have in your pantry will tell you more.
3. Meditate
There are so many great apps (such as Calm and Headspace) that give you access to free meditations. You can do them lying on your bed or sitting in a chair, so there’s really no excuses for not making some time for yourself.
4. Chat with a counsellor online
Make some time for your self-care by scheduling an appointment with an online counsellor. Bouncing ideas and thoughts off a third party can be really good for everybody, and you don’t even have to get out of your jammies!
5. Take a day/week/month off from social media
Unplug from the digital world and take some time out. Social media can wreak havoc on your mental health and a detox can be all you need to put you in a more positive mood. Read our full story on how to protect your mental health from social media here.
6. Call someone you haven’t spoken to in a while
Reconnecting with a friend or family member who you haven’t talked to in a while is all it takes to put a smile on your face. Give them a buzz on WhatsApp or Messenger and get that conversation flowing.
7. Clean and sort
There’s just nothing more satisfying than having a good spring clean, and it doesn’t have to be a task relegated to just once a year. Sort your undie drawer, tidy your filing cabinet, or clean out your fridge, and you’ll be amazed at how much better you feel afterwards.
8. Do some sort of exercise

When we talk about self-care we definitely talk about fitness. We’ve found a bunch of online fitness classes for you to enjoy from the comfort of your home, plus, we’ve got a whole playlist on Facebook dedicated to free workouts for you to get your sweat on.
9. Give yourself time to do something you enjoy
In this busy world, it’s easy to forget the things you really love. Make time for a good book, watch a TV series you’ve been wanting to see or cook that recipe you saw on Instagram. Once you allow yourself the time to do these things, you’ll soon be wanting to do them more often.
10. Experience crystals
Our friends over at OMSA wrote a handy beginner’s guide to crystals for us, and we just love it. Each crystal represents different energies, and integrating their healing properties into your life is sure to help with your home self-care rituals.
