I’ve already shared my pick of the best restaurants in Canggu for dinner, but daytime here plays by different rules. Brunch stretches on, the coffee is seriously good, and a slow morning can easily roll into a late arvo. These are the very best cafes in Canggu, from build-your-own breakfast plates to the best latte in town, and every one of them has been tried, tested and revisited by me over the years.

1. The Avocado Factory
Bali’s first avocado cafe serving avo-packed brunch plates, bowls and desserts.
Avocado on toast, avocado-stuffed croissants, avocado whipped into smoothie bowls and even avocado dipping sauces – if you ask me, there’s no such thing as ‘too much’ avocado. Well, it turns out that The Avocado Factory is as mad about nature’s green gift as I am, giving my morning go-to the recognition it deserves.
The menu is all avo everything, full of avocado-packed signatures. My all-time faves are the Avo Cheese Croissant XL, the Truffle Benedict with avocado and truffled hollandaise, and the broccoli toast with mashed avocado. Even the desserts get a healthy dose of avocado.
I remember when The Avocado Factory first opened – it was a small road-side cafe with just a handful of seats. Now, it’s grown into an enormous, air-conditioned space with stylish interiors and buzzing vibes all day. They’re even open for dinner!

2. Milk & Madu
A family-friendly Bali icon with legendary brunches, lava stone pizzas and something for everyone.
Everyone loves this absolute jewel of a cafe. And for good reason. Milk & Madu is a Bali icon, now with two locations in Canggu: one in Berawa (the original) and my favourite, Milk & Madu Beach Road.
I love the Beach Road branch because it’s so spacious and easy-going. It almost feels like an indoor beer garden, with towering ceilings and farmhouse vibes. Catching up with the crew over a slow brunch is always a hit. Plus, if you’re bringing the kids, the playground and arts and crafts are a total lifesaver.
As for the food, you can’t go wrong with their Brekkie Sets and specialty coffee. But if I’m here with a group, we’re 100% ordering the lava stone pizzas. My personal favourites? The Truffle Mushroom Cacio e Pepe and the Pizza With A Chance of Meatballs. But honestly, just get both, especially since they run 2-for-1 every Tuesday and Sunday. And yes, this place also serves brunch cocktails, so I highly (highly!) recommend those too.
Best for: Family-friendly brunches and group catch-ups over good food, done simply.

3. Nüde
A relaxed all-day cafe in Canggu serving specialty coffee and always-consistent brunch food.
Stepping into Nüde is like stopping by an old friend’s place, which isn’t too far from the truth. Their flagship location in Berawa has been there for 10 years, so they have the brunch game nailed. The staff are famously friendly (all smiles from Putu and the team, every time) while the kitchen knocks out consistently good breakfasts and lunches all day. It’s a huge hit with digital nomads and expats too – in fact, most people I know consider it their ‘regular’.
For me, the breakfast plates are still the main draw, especially the Build Your Own option, where you can pick your carbs, proteins, and sides. Don’t forget to ask what’s new, and what the specials of the day are.
They have three different locations in Canggu, but the flagship Berawa branch has the widest offering. And the shift from AM to PM (yes, I’ve spent more days here than I can count!) goes from a bright, easy daytime cafe to a relaxed evening hangout for dinner. Think moody lighting and slower music, which turns it into a completely different vibe, even though it’s the same friendly staff taking care of you.
Best for: Famously friendly service, solid breakfasts and laptop lunches.

4. The Shady Shack
Iconic vegetarian cafe with wholesome bowls, vegan burgers and boho vibes.
True to its name, The Shady Shack is a breezy, shaded cafe beneath swaying palms, sitting roadside in the heart of Canggu. The whole menu is vegetarian and wholesome, but even non-veggos love this place (in fact, my family didn’t even realise it was meat-free!).
For brekkie, my all-time favourite is the Smashed Eggplant Toast (it’s zesty and bright with lemon and asparagus), while for lunch I flip between the Bees Knees Nachos (a crowd favourite), the tempe wrap and the vegan lasagne.
Grab a cold coconut or frothy turmeric latte, and pair it with the raw banoffee cheesecake. FYI, this is the most consistent cafe in Canggu, making it a great option for GoJek deliveries too.
Best for: Quality and always consistent vegetarian food in a breezy boho setting.

5. The Goat Father
A specialty coffee bar with robust brews, croissants and fresh pastries.
My go-to coffee stop and the place for a perfect croissant or pastry is The Goat Father. It’s a street-side coffee corner where you can prop up the barista bar, hang out on the patio, or fuel-up after your morning run on banana bread and carrot cake.
This humble coffee shop stands directly in front of The Avocado Factory (above), meaning you can head inside for the full brunch experience, or simply hang out with your mates on the patio with a Java Puntang, a dirty chai latte or an iced coffee with maple and orange zest. If you love strong coffee with a kick of acidity and full robust flavours, this place is for you.
Best for: Strong, barista-brewed coffee from a grab-and-go coffee nook.

6. Openhouse
The ‘cafe of the moment’ with build-your-own plates and a queue out the door.
Openhouse has quickly become one of Canggu’s most popular cafes, with a queue out the door every single day. What draws in the crowds here is the freedom to build your own plate: you pick your proteins, veggies and sides, and create something that’s bright and balanced.
Their Pererenan branch is the most popular, and it’s always buzzing, so expect a wait. But if you’re not the queuing type (like me!), you can always head to their Seseh location. It’s much quieter and a little more spacious. I spent an afternoon there, and it was surprisingly cosy – almost giving London bistro vibes.
Best for: Wholesome brunch with friends or travellers looking for Instagram-worthy cafe

7. Crate Cafe
Hipster breakfast hub with industrial interiors, smoothie bowls and great coffee.
Is this the best breakfast in Bali? Many would say so. This rad, hipster coffee shop is always busy with Canggu’s coolest. Maybe it’s the awesome soundtrack, or maybe it’s the food that’s just so goddamn good (and affordable!). Their gluten-free sandwiches are right up there as one of my fave things to eat in Canggu.
Right now, Crate Cafe is located just off Batu Bolong and Padang Linjong, but soon they’re moving to Pererenan. Look out for those iconic industrial interiors, bold murals, super smoothie bowls and some of the best coffee in town. But don’t just take our word for it – you’ll soon see it’s always busy at this Canggu icon.
Best for: Hipster-cool hangouts, towering smoothies and affordable breakfasts.

8. BAKED.
Artisan bakery famous for its homemade sourdough, giant croissants and hearty brunch plates.
Soft, springy and perfectly crunchy on the crust – BAKED had me at homemade, still-warm sourdough. But flawless loaves aren’t the only specialty at this Canggu hotspot (located in Berawa and Pererenan). Throughout the day, you can tuck into salmon bagels, everything-on-toast, and some of the best scrambled eggs in Bali.
And the kicker is, absolutely everything here is made in-house.
My fave is the Royal folded eggs with spinach, sweet chilli jam, cream cheese, and that epic homemade sourdough. Settle in to the fresh interiors, and whatever you do, make sure you take home their doughy creations…

9. Sensorium Bali
A multi-sensory Australasian cafe from Indonesian Chef-Owner William Salim.
Described as an ‘elevated brunch restaurant’, Sensorium Bali is a multi-sensory Australasian cafe that pushes all boundaries when it comes to brunch food. We won’t spoil the full experience for you here, but expect an ultra-modern take on Australian and Asian cuisine in a cool, air-conditioned space.
Chef-Owner William Salim is the man behind the magic, and he’s often in the cafe to personally greet guests and recommend his standouts. For us, he suggested the Textural of Mushrooms (sautéed and fried wild mushrooms with a seaweed paste on rye), the brunch ramen with 62-degree sous vide egg, and the decadent bulgogi beef burger. Safe to say, we were not disappointed.
Psst – while we were dining, Chef William shared with us the story behind Sensorium, and it makes this special cafe even more meaningful. After nine years in Australia, his visa was suddenly denied, forcing him to leave the life he’d built overseas. With little more than his experience and determination, he started again. Sensorium was born from that turning point, and the rest is history.
Best for: An Asian take on traditional brunch food, with gastronomic twists and boundary-pushing recipes.

10. Rize
Indian-inspired cafe with epic dosas, vegan curries and plant-based brunch options.
Rize is an open-air cafe just off the main Pererenan beach road, and it’s best known for its all-day Indian plates that use fresh local ingredients. I’ll be honest – I don’t often crave Indian food in the daytime (I’m more of a dinner-time curry gal), but that all changed after I tried the dosas here. There are four breakfast dosas to choose from, and they are all mind-blowing.
The cafe is also just minutes away from Pererenan Beach, so if you’re taking a midday break, drop by for a light lunch, cool down with a plant-based smoothie, then get back to the beach in time for the next wave. And if you’re not in the mood for Indian flavours, there are plenty of western-style brunch plates too, plus countless vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.
Best for: Indian dosas just minutes from the beach.

11. Neighbourhood
An urban cafe in Berawa and Seseh, dedicated to local produce and Australian-standard coffee.
When a renowned chef, artist and fashion icon creates a space for community, craft and Australian-standard coffee, the result is Neighbourhood. This effortlessly cool cafe spotlights local produce from artisan makers, with underground art on the walls and a Melbourne-esque energy.
It’s one of my fave cafes in Berawa (and now Seseh too!) for breakfast and brunch. And FYI, the Hood Benedict (with confit potato hash, soft eggs, jalapeño hollandaise and salsa) is what first made me fall in love with this place. As lunch swings around, try the chicken pesto roll, tuna melt or any of the bowls. Or, stick around until later in the day for afternoon nibbles, wine and cocktails on the front terrace.
Best for: Local ingredients, Melbourne vibes and artisanal brunch food.

12. 12 Urban Cafe
A relaxed all-day cafe in Canggu serving specialty coffee and solid brunch food.
I almost kept this hidden cafe to myself, but it’s too good to keep secret. 12 Urban Cafe is a lesser-known gem on a quieter street in Canggu, and once you step inside, it’s a tropical, open-air space that gets the basics right – good coffee, solid brunch food, and a welcoming atmosphere.
I like to settle in with a coffee and the Atlantic Breakfast, or a smoothie bowl for something lighter. By lunchtime, I love the Urban Salad or the Salmon & Tuna Tartare. The breezy layout, layered with greenery, makes it easy to linger from breakfast until lunch (and later!).
But what really sets 12 Urban Cafe apart is its community feel. It’s pet-friendly and attracts a mix of locals, expats and travellers who treat it as their regular rather than a one-off. Come evening, the vibe shifts, with wine, cocktails and occasional movie nights.
Best for: Digital nomads and breakfast-to-dinner vibes.

13. Honey Kitchen
Stylish Pererenan cafe with organic, sophisticated brunch plates.
Not only do I love the name of this breezy cafe in Pererenan, I’m also obsessed with the fit-out. Honey Kitchen is laced in white, with a sun-soaked terrace and modern-tropical decor. It’s simple but oh-so stylish. And of course, the same can be said about the menu.
With a focus on ultra-fresh and organic ingredients, local and imported produce is given the Midas touch, creating standout brunch plates like the zucchini feta omelette, lemon ricotta pancakes, and gourmet add-ons like halloumi, steak and smoked salmon. All of this is perched roadside (perfect for people watching), just a short stroll from Pererenan Beach.
Best for: Super stylish breakfasts in gorgeous interiors, just footsteps from the beach.

14. Little Frenchie
Charming French bistro in Pererenan, famous for its Eggs Benedict and golden profiteroles.
Little Frenchie is a charming French cafe that sits on the quieter side of Pererenan, not far from the beach. And just like the French do, it’s a great spot for a long and leisurely brunch. Start with Louie’s Eggs Benedict with gooey 63-degree eggs, paired with a perfectly brewed latte, or even a Mimosa. This place is pet-friendly too, so you can bring your pampered pooch with you!
As afternoon swings around, tuck into generous baguettes with whipped herb butter and garlic jam, or graze on the pan-seared poisson du jour (AKA local catch-of-the-day). I never leave without a plate of golden profiteroles, stuffed with vanilla Chantilly. It’s the perfect place to prop up street-side and watch the world go by, or to dive into a good book with a parade of French brunch classics. Bon appétit!

15. Copenhagen Bali
Scandinavian cafe with build-your-own brunch boards and Nordic classics.
Think that Nordic food is only cold fish and potatoes? Think again. Copenhagen draws a steady crowd (and a long queue at peak hours) for one simple reason: you get to build your own brunch board, mixing and matching whatever you fancy from the spread.
My breakfast spread usually includes a Danish pastry, scrambled eggs, creamy tuna and a raspberry poptart, but you can select from a whole list of different options. And if you don’t fancy queuing, you’ll find other Copenhagen cafes closer to Pererenan and Seseh, though these only serve bakery-style options, like cinnamon rolls, croissants and sandwiches.

16. St. Ali
Melbourne-born cafe serving sustainable coffee and Aussie-inspired brunch plates.
From Melbourne to Bali, St. Ali in Pererenan is from the same peeps who gave us the artsy-cool boutique hotel, Further Hotel. Roasting and brewing only the best ethically and sustainably sourced beans, St. Ali has nailed the classics. But I say, step outta the box and go for a signature brew like the Coco Mingle (espresso topped with chocolate ice cream and coconut water) or the Grape Fizz Cold Brew.
Pair it up with some Melbourne-inspired brunch food, like the Chicken Katsu Sando or the St. Muffin, fully loaded with egg, sausage, caramelised onions, Dijon mustard and mayo. It’s Melbourne food, but better – because it’s in Bali!
Best for: Australian-inspired breakfasts and sustainably sourced coffee.

17. Gigi Susu
Famous coffee shack with daily-baked pastries, artisanal bread and hearty sandwiches.
Yes, Gigi Susu is the Canggu cafe that’s all over Instagram, and you’ve probably already seen the queue on your feed. Some of it is for the coffee and pastries, but let’s be honest, most of it is people patiently waiting their turn with the iconic Gigi Susu sign (no judgement here, it makes a great photo!). Gigi Susu itself is a cosy wooden shack just minutes from Batu Bolong Beach, known for its daily-baked pastries, artisanal breads and cute merch.
If you’ve got the time, settle in for a homemade beef pastrami sandwich with wholewheat sourdough, or a roasted butternut pumpkin salad. The coffee and pastries are decent, but the sign is still the real star, so snap your photo, grab a cuppa and a buttery croissant before hitting the beach.

A chic Pererenan cafe with soufflé pancakes, truffle eggs and European mains.
You’ll feel like you’re in Seminyak at this stylish cafe, just minutes from Pererenan beach. With the dreamiest island-chic interiors that match its urban-style menu, you’ll often catch me in Touché, sipping on a matcha cappuccino over a plate of truffle mushroom risotto and a crisp smoked salmon salad.
From breakfast through to lunch, the menu goes from fluffy soufflé pancakes, to truffle scrambled eggs, before finishing off with European-inspired mains and desserts. Top tip: Touché doubles up as a prime perch to watch Pererenan life go by.

Roastery and bakery serving Arabica coffee, poached eggs and shokupan French toast.
A roastery and bakery all-in-one, ACME serves up freshly baked artisan breads, pastries and brekkie staples alongside great coffee. You’ll get a great caffeine fix thanks to their 100% Arabica beans, which are sustainably produced from local plantations and roasted in-house. It goes without saying that a cappuccino here goes perfectly with a croissant or pain au chocolat.
But better yet, try the sumac-spiced poached eggs served with toasted focaccia, or the delectable French toast with fluffy shokupan (AKA Japanese milk bread), berry jam, maple and golden cinnamon sugar. This one has become one of my regulars, and it’s great for GoJek deliveries too.
Best for: Sustainable Arabica coffee with baked goods from all over the world.

A cosy, hidden cafe with home-style brunch bites, vintage finds and chill vibes.
Hidden behind closed curtains and an inconspicuous frontage, The Living Room is a retro cafe where you can kick back with great coffee, a good book and a small but delicious brunch menu.
Nab a seat on the sofa and start your morning with the breakfast bun, stuffed with egg, crispy bacon, sausage, fries and chilli mayo. Or drop by at lunch for some spiced chicken skewers in a garlic parmesan sauce. Wash it all down with a strawberry and lychee iced tea, and browse the vintage trinkets, vinyl and collection of rare books.
Best for: Cosy retro vibes that feel like you’re in someone’s living room.
