If you’ve always wanted to stay right on the beach in Bali, I’ve reviewed the best hotels first-hand so you know which ones are worth it.
If you’re coming to Bali for the beaches (and let’s be honest, who isn’t?), you’ll want a hotel that puts you right on the sand. Over the years, I’ve checked into more than my fair share of Bali hotels – from luxury resorts in Seminyak to humble hotels in Sanur – and some are simply in a league of their own. These are the best beachfront hotels in Bali: places I’ve actually stayed, swum, sipped cocktails and watched sunsets at, so you know they’re worth booking.
THE BEST HOTELS ON THE BEACH IN BALI
1. The Apurva Kempinski Bali – Nusa Dua
A five-star resort that blends Indonesian heritage with beachfront luxury.

The Apurva Kempinski Bali isn’t subtle. It’s a sprawling, five-star tribute to Indonesian artistry, with vast open-air spaces, intricate local details, and some of the island’s most dramatic architecture. Staying here feels like stepping into a theatre, with a show-stopping staircase that leads all the way from the sky-high lobby, down to the glittering resort pools and white-sand beach.
The Prestige Ocean Suites come with outdoor bathtubs and private plunge pools, and the whole resort leans into heritage with modern twists – from the spa rituals to the restaurants showcasing regional Indonesian cuisine. Bonus: read my review of The Apurva Kempinski Bali here.
Best for: Travellers who want a grand, cultural take on beachfront luxury.
Insider tip: Try Izakaya by OKU while you’re here – it’s one of the best Japanese restaurants in Bali.
Good to know: The resort is massive, so bring comfortable sandals, because you’ll be walking a lot!
Price per night: Starting from IDR 3,825,000
Where: Jl Raya Nusa Dua Selatan, Sawangan, Nusa Dua
Book The Apurva Kempinski Bali
2. Hyatt Regency Bali – Sanur
A family-friendly beachfront classic in Sanur, recently refreshed with modern style.

Though this hotel is one of Sanur’s originals, Hyatt Regency Bali has had a serious glow-up in recent years. It spans nine hectares of beachfront greenery, and it has managed to blend classic Balinese touches with modern updates. I stayed here with friends who had kids, and it worked perfectly: three pools to choose from, beachfront dining, and calm, swimmable waters out front. It feels like a proper resort, but without the crowds of Seminyak or the formality of Nusa Dua.
Best for: Families who want a slice of culture, art and luxury.
Insider tip: Book direct to score Regency Club access, which includes daily breakfast, refreshments and light hors d’oeuvres.
Good to know: Sanur’s beachfront path is right out front – great for morning walks or cycling.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 3,290,200
Where: Jl Danau Tamblingan No. 89, Sanur
3. Alila Seminyak – Seminyak
A sleek, design-driven resort with one of Seminyak’s best pools.

Alila Seminyak is sleek, stylish and very good at making you feel like you’ve made the right hotel choice. The rooms are modern with just enough Balinese touches to remind you where you are, but it’s the beach bar and infinity pool that steal the show. I’ve lost more than a few afternoons here, half-reading a book while cool loungy music drifts over the waves. If you’re splashing out, the three-bedroom penthouse is outrageous (private pool, rooftop deck, panoramic ocean views). Bonus: read my review of Alila Seminyak here.
Best for: Design lovers who want Seminyak’s action without giving up ocean views.
Insider tip: Stay here over a weekend, because Seminyak is home to Seasalt restaurant, which serves one of the best Sunday brunches in Bali.
Good to know: If you love Bali’s sunsets, this is one of the best places to stay in Seminyak to catch the nightly spectacle.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 4,382,547
Where: Jl Taman Ganesha No. 9, Petitenget
4. The Mulia, Mulia Resort & Villas – Nusa Dua
A lavish, village-like resort with butlers, Sunday brunches and grand style.

Mulia Bali is unapologetically lavish. It’s basically a six-star luxury village, with multiple pools, gourmet restaurants, and a stunning beach that feels worlds away from the more popular beaches of Bali. The suites here are vast, the villas come with butlers, and there are even hydrotherapy pools in the spa. This resort really is next-level, and you’ll notice it the moment you arrive, with its incredible grand entrance that weaves through the lush grounds. You could easily stay a week here and not run out of things to see and do.
Best for: Over-the-top indulgence with everything at your fingertips.
Insider tip: Don’t miss the Sunday Brunch at Soleil restaurant – it’s one of the island’s very best.
Good to know: This resort is big, bold and lavish – if you’re after boutique charm, this isn’t it.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 7,636,325
Where: Jl Raya Nusa Dua, Sawangan, Nusa Dua
5. Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort
French-inspired elegance meets family-friendly resort living on Nusa Dua Beach.

Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort brings Parisian polish to Nusa Dua’s calm stretch of sand. I regularly come here just for the Sunday brunch at Cucina (yes, it’s that good). But you’ll also want to check in for the full, très chic experience. Walking through the resort, you’ll wind through landscaped lagoon pools, past gourmet restaurants and the award-winning spa, and into your room or suite that feels quietly sophisticated. As for the breakfast, it’s honestly one of the best hotel spreads in Bali (definitely worth waking up early for!). Bonus: read my review of Sofitel Bali here.
Best for: French-inspired luxury with plenty of family-friendly amenities.
Insider tip: Check out the regular promotions – you can snag discounted stay packages, and even a picnic on the beach.
Good to know: Sofitel Bali is very popular with families, yet it still feels elegant and relaxed.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 3,000,000
Where: Kawasan Pariwisata BTDC Lot N5, Nusa Dua

6. Andaz Bali
A modern beachfront resort designed like a Balinese village square.

Andaz Bali feels quite different to other beachfront resorts I’ve stayed in. It’s designed like a Balinese village, with a central square, pavilions, and restaurants that spill into each other without borders. I loved the balance here: social when you want it, but with secluded gardens and lagoon pools when you don’t. The beach is calm, the vibe is understated, and the interiors are stylish without being showy.
Best for: Anyone who wants to feel part of a village, with communal vibes and lots of lovely space.
Insider tip: Try the restaurants at the Village Square – they’re more casual (almost like dining at a food market), but the quality is excellent.
Good to know: Sanur is quieter than the west coast – expect calm seas and an easy-going pace.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 4,524,025
Where: Jl Danau Tamblingan No. 89A, Sanur
7. The Legian Seminyak, Bali
An iconic, timelessly elegant hotel where every suite faces the ocean.

Perhaps the most luxurious hotel on this list is The Legian. It’s one of Seminyak’s true icons that’s been around for years, but it never feels dated. I stayed here recently and was reminded why it’s still one of Bali’s most sophisticated beachfront hotels. The suites are all ocean-facing, the service is flawless, and the vibe is effortlessly elegant. For the ultimate experience, The Club by The Legian gives you private villas with pools, a chauffeur-driven limousine, and a private butler (trained by The Guild of Professional English Butlers, no less!). FYI – The Restaurant here is on another level.
Best for: A six-star luxury stay with timeless elegance.
Insider tip: Sunset cocktails here are a must – there’s even an oceanfront Champagne bar!
Good to know: Every suite faces the ocean, so there’s no such thing as a “bad” room.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 7,312,500
Where: Jl Kayu Aya, Seminyak Beach

Good to know before booking a beachfront hotel in Bali
- Best time to visit: Dry season (May to October) is the sweet spot for Bali’s beaches, with clear skies and calm seas. December is popular for the Christmas holidays, but expect higher rates. Rainy season (November to March) brings occasional downpours, but mornings are often sunny. You can read our full guide to Bali weather if you’re still unsure.
- East vs West Coast: Sanur (east) is calm, swimmable, and sunrise-friendly. Seminyak and Jimbaran (west) are better for sunsets, surfing, and nightlife. Nusa Dua (south) has calm lagoons and resort-style beachfronts. Also keep in mind that the west coast is better during the dry season, and the east coast is better during the wet season, as offshore winds mean cleaner beaches and calmer seas.
- Pricing: Expect to pay IDR 3,000,000 to IDR 10,000,000 per night for five-star beachfront hotels. Boutique options and villas can be cheaper, but oceanfront rooms always carry a premium.
- Booking tip: Direct booking often includes perks like airport transfers, daily breakfast, or spa credit.
FAQs about Bali beachfront hotels
What areas in Bali are best for beachfront stays?
- Seminyak – best for vibrant beach clubs, nightlife, and sunset walks.
- Nusa Dua – best for calm, groomed beaches and luxury resort amenities.
- Sanur – best for family-friendly, swimmable shores and a 5km oceanfront boardwalk.
- Jimbaran Bay – best for seafood dinners right on the sand and a more traditional village feel.
Which famous beachfront hotels in Bali are consistently top-rated?
Some favourites that come up again and again include The Legian Seminyak, Alila Seminyak, The Apurva Kempinski Bali, and Andaz Bali in Sanur. These spots often land in top searches because they deliver on beach access, style, and service.
Are Bali’s beachfront hotels expensive?
Expect five-star resorts on the beach to start from USD 200–500+ per night, especially for designer or suite-level rooms. Boutique options can be lower, but oceanfront always comes with a premium price tag.
Can you swim easily at Bali’s beachfront hotels?
Yes, but it varies. In Sanur and Nusa Dua, the beaches are generally calm and great for swimming. On the west coast (like Seminyak and Canggu), expect stronger surf — these beaches are ideal for surfers, rather than relaxed swims.
Is it better to book a villa or beachfront hotel room?
Beachfront hotels offer full-service ease – restaurants, spas, beach access, communal pools. On the other hand, private villas offer seclusion and personal space but may lack direct beach access or on-site amenities. It depends on what matters most to your trip vibe.
When’s the best time to stay near Bali’s beaches?
Aim for the dry season (May to October), as that’s when west coast beaches are at their calmest and cleanest. The east coast like Sanur stays relatively safe and swim-friendly even in the wet season because of offshore winds.
