The Black Swan

Morton’s The Steakhouse Restaurant

Prefer quirky to classic? Head down to this delightfully kitschy little bar (pictured above) tucked away in the Red Dot Traffic Building – one of our favourite buildings in Singapore. Pick from an incredible variety of absolutely zany Singaporean-inspired cocktail offerings, from bandung shots to an alcoholic rendition of chicken soup. There’s much to try here, so go crazy because cocktails go for $15, wine at $7, house pour spirits at $8 and beers at $9 from 4-8pm daily.

No fancy-schmancy gimmicks, no flamboyant concept, no secret passwords for entry; this is one fuss-free dive bar to simply enjoy a drink with your gals and mates. Helmed by the trusty hands behind Jigger & Pony, Gibson and Humpback, The Flagship is all about rock & roll and whiskies. The Flagship’s happy hour from Monday to Saturday, 5pm-8pm, offers house pour whiskies for just $12++. Being a whisky centric bar, its house pour offerings are a class above the rest – you can expect Monkey Shoulder scotch, Bulleit Bourbon, and Rittenhouse Rye.

This shot bar is well-known for their crazy selection of shots and their even crazier happy hour deals: $6 for all selected shots, bottled beers, and houses pours from 6.30pm till 9.30pm daily. It also opens ’til 3.30am on party nights (Wednesday, Friday and Saturday), and that means you have time to sample all 130 shots at The Chupitos Bar. Drinks here are categorised according to different drinking palettes and tolerance levels: Deadly, Fruity, Yummy and Dare. The bestsellers are the Milo Godzilla and Black Absinthe Bohemian.

Don’t Tell Mama
You certainly won’t want to tell Mama about your boozy shenanigans at this Korean/Mexican bar-restaurant. After all, with pints of Stella and Hoegaarden going for $10 and $11 respectively, and a slew of Korean-inspired tacos and quesadillas, you’ll find yourself here way too late, even on work nights. A trio of Corona, Sol and Heineken also goes for $25 while three bottles of Hite will set you back just $20. Happy hour runs from Mon-Sat, 5pm-8pm.

Unlike the pesky alcohol police, the peeps at Tanuki Raw know how to have a good time. Its Kapok branch offers a daily happy hour from 5pm-8pm not only includes $10 martinis and cocktails and $12 pints of beer, but freshly shucked oysters at $2 apiece as well. Oysters not your thing? From 5pm to 7pm daily, you’ll get free katsu-crust beef sliders with each purchase of a cocktail or mocktail. The Orchard Central branch’s 5pm to 8pm happy hour offers the same drink and oyster deals with the addition of $7 salmon sashimi plates.
Have a drink by the riverside at contemporary Mexican bar, Café Iguana. From 12pm to 3pm, grab a glass or jug of house margarita (lime, raspberry, blueberry, peach, strawberry, mango, soursop, pink guava, or kiwi) for 7$ or $28. Too early for you? From 3pm to 7pm it’s $10 for a glass and $40 for a jug, after which regular prices start.

You’d best hightail it here quickly after work, because this swish rooftop bar gets positively packed before its happy hour ends. From 3pm to 8pm daily, you’ll enjoy one-for-one deals on all draft beers including Guinness, Kilkenny and Heineken. The evening breeze on the rooftop and the great music selection score bonus points with us as well.

Ice-cold pints of Tiger are great, no doubt, but we do like ourselves some proper German lager sometimes – and it’s a bonus if that doesn’t burn a hole in our wallets. At Sque, indulge in one-for-one pints (that’s $18 for two!) of Schneider Weisse, Benediktiner Weissbier, Stella Artois, as well as lighter Asian brews like Singha and San Miguel between 11.30am – 7pm, and 9pm – 11pm.

This no-frills underground drinking den has no happy hour but they make up for it with really cheap beer around the clock. For $20, you get a 1.5-litre San Miguel, and on Tuesday, their jugs are priced at $13. Sweet.

Despite its distinctly high-end metropolitan surroundings, this brasserie and bar offers a mean happy hour that starts from as early as 9am from Mondays to Thursdays (oh my!).
