You don’t have to love fruits to love these epic smoothies! Who knew healthy tasted so good?
The health foods craze has been taking over Singapore, and we’re loving all the acai joints, smoothie cafes and clean eats popping up around the city. If you don’t want to go through the hassle of doing it yourself, here are some of the best cafes to hit up for a power-packed smoothie or gorgeous smoothie bowl. Don’t forget to bring your own reusable straw, people!
The Social Space
The Social Space is one of our favourite multi-concept cafes with a socially conscious outlook. Manicures and shopping aside, we’ve also discovered that they do a mean smoothie bowl. Be a Tough Nut with the blend of peanut butter and banana, or make like The Hulk with an energising matcha, spinach and avocado combo. The mixed berry smoothie promises to be Berry Berry Good too.
The Social Space, 333 Kreta Ayer Rd, #01-14, Singapore 080333
Milky Whey is a bit of a hidden gem, but it sure is worth looking for. We recommend the Acai-clipse bowl for an antioxidant boost, or the Comet 59 smoothie, a bright pink pick-me-up that’s made with dragon fruit and honey. To make things even better, these are made with homemade almond milk and almond butter with no sugar added – so you won’t have to worry about accidentally consuming a ton of hidden sugars!
Milky Whey, OUE Downtown Gallery, (Tower 2) 6A Shenton Way, #03-31, Singapore 068815
This smoothie joint has something for everyone. Down a Super Gym Shake to recover from a killer workout, have a grab-and-go breakfast from the Wake & Shake series, or look to Nature’s Remedies for a boost of vitamins or even a hangover cure. Alternatively, indulge in an acai bowl or customise your own smoothie. The latter comes in recyclable and reusable glass bottles – bring them back to get a dollar off your next shake! (P.S. Another branch is opening on Telok Ayer in November, so keep your eyes peeled!)
Shake Farm, #01-02 50 Robinson Road, Singapore 068882
Food Rebel is fronting a revolution to educate people about the impact that food has on the body. The compact smoothie menu includes the mocha espresso smoothie, perfect for coffee addicts who want something healthy without giving up on the caffeine kick. Can’t decide? You can’t go wrong with the acai berry bowl’s acai, coconut and banana combination.
Food Rebel, 28 Stanley St, Singapore 068737
A Poke Theory
You might know A Poke Theory for the Hawaiian rice bowls, but give the smoothie bowls a go too. Looking more like over-embellished gelato or froyo cups, these come in flavours like Raspberry Tropic, topped with pomegranate, mango, coconut chips and sunflower seeds; and Blackberry Binge, sprinkled with quinoa puffs, blueberries and roasted cashews.
A Poke Theory, 27 Boon Tat St, Singapore 069623
Haakhon is a Scandinavian-inspired concept where you can get all three (healthy) meals under one roof. The acai bowl and smoothie selection ranges from dessert-like picks such as the Cacao Bliss Acai Bowl (because who doesn’t like chocolate?) to something more green like the Spirulina Strong smoothie with apple, mango and banana thrown in for some natural sweetness.
Haakhon, multiple locations including Somerset and Tanjong Katong.
Seed and Soil
With a nutritionist behind the scenes, Seed and Soil ditches the refined sugars and chemical additives to create nutritional powerhouses. Each smoothie bowl is topped with the signature Superfood Sprinkle, providing protein, fibre and omega-3. The Tropical Bliss gets our pick for taking us on a sugar trip without the added sugar!
