No more second-guessing; the Queen of Pop is finally headed here for a concert of a lifetime.
Hearts fluttered when word got around that the original Queen of Pop was headed to our shores, but were promptly crushed when said speculations were quashed after the Singapore leg of her tour schedule was removed from her official website. But like a ray of light indeed, it turns out that the hype surrounding this dream gig wasn’t unfounded after all… Strike a pose, y’all – Madonna is finally coming to SG!
Yeah, you read that right. Despite the fact that Madge has been shaping the terrain of pop music since the ’80s – immortalising hits like “Lucky Star”, “Material Girl” and “Like A Virgin” – she’s never actually graced the SG stage with her presence before. Deemed too risqué for our ‘conservative audiences’ back in the ’90s by local authorities, this flamboyant Voguer was never given an opportunity to spread her sensual, erotic brand of showmanship (boo!). Thankfully, things have turned around for the better now (huzzah!), and better late than never since Madonna’s still socially relevant in the pop scene with post-millennial anthems like “Hung Up”, “4 Minutes” and, most recently, “Bitch I’m Madonna”. And at 57, you’re darn right this Goddess is still hot for her age.
Deets are still in the process of rolling out. But what we can tell you is that this tour will be taking place at the Singapore National Stadium on 28 February, and it will be in promotion of her newest 13th album, Rebel Heart. Pre-sale ‘live passes’ will be available from 7 January, 10am, but it is only open to members of Madonna’s official Icon fan club, or if you’re willing to purchase a VIP package. Tickets go on sale to general public from 12 January, 10am.
