Forget Shake Shack, these local brands at Jewel Changi Airport have us beaming with pride.
Ah Jewel Changi Airport, another gem that puts Singapore on the map thanks to extra AF features like the world’s tallest indoor waterfall at 40 metres high (hello, HSBC Rain Vortex), over 280 unique retail and dining options and a hefty 1.7 billion-dollar price tag.
But nothing makes us happier than seeing local brands open shop at this majestic 10-storey mall. Yes, the local takeover at Jewel Changi Airport is real and we’re absolutely here for it. In the lead up to the opening on 17 April, we’ve put together a list of brands that are debuting alongside the big guns and making Singapore proud. You know you want to #supportlocal.
FOR SOME RETAIL THERAPY…
In Good Company

Fans of In Good Company’s classic silhouettes with a modern twist and elevated staples, say aye. Jewel Changi Airport’s third stand-alone store is the biggest one yet with ample customer interaction spaces and massive fitting rooms. Designed to look like a contemporary art gallery, the lighting and curved spaces are cleverly used to draw you into the store, encouraging you to focus on each product. It’s also the only outlet to feature all collection lines including ‘mini-me’ for kids, menswear and jewellery in one space. Just like the other IGC stores, it houses local lifestyle names that are in the same spirit as this local brand. Sweeten your shopping experience with a scoop of gelato from Birds of Paradise located just outside the store.

Naiise Iconic
We’ve oohed and aahed over existing Naiise outlets, but the stakes are higher at this one. As the only duplex unit in the mall and with a whopping 882.5 sq.m. space, expect to find exciting features like the ‘Gift Bar’ where you can personalise your products and have them gift wrapped, Launchpad where you could chip in ideas to help designers with their next big discovery and of course, truckloads of over 600 local brands including Ans.ein, Matter, Run After and RE:ERTH. Naiise Iconic is set to open in May so watch this space for exciting updates.

Klosh
You’ve probably seen this uber-cool stationery-gift store hybrid at your heartland mall. Now, with an outlet outside your neighbourhood, Klosh is reaching greater heights. Forgot to buy a souvenir from your trip? You’ll find a great backup here. Apart from the usual mix of novelties, stationery and home decor, the Jewel Changi Airport outlet will feature a ‘Creat-A-Scent’ spot where you can mix a unique blend of fragrance from over 100 recipes from U.S. home fragrance melt, Scentchips.

Supermama

An absolute favourite for art and design lovers, this gallery store is home to iconic porcelain collections embellished with uniquely-Singaporean designs like the Merlion. Designed in Singapore and made in Japan, it’s safe to say that each piece is made with fine craftsmanship. Along with this, you can find jewellery, furniture, accessories and cutlery hailing from Japan. We hear that some exciting designer and artist collabs are also in the works!

MUNCH ON THIS
Birds of Paradise

Housed within fellow local brand, In Good Company, Birds of Paradise has made quite a mark with its botanical-flavoured gelato and unique flavours (think strawberry basil, lychee and raspberry and white chrysanthemum) you haven’t tried elsewhere. There’s also a wafer-cone making station where you can witness how the thyme-flavoured cones are whipped into shape. Birds of Paradise is also creating a cool new flavour that’s exclusive to Jewel Changi Airport. You heard it first from us!

AND FOR A LOCAL TWIST…

Call it FOMO or paying homage to all things local, some establishments are joining the fun by adding a local twist to their menus and we ain’t complaining. For starters, Shake Shack, the American burger joint that’s created quite the hoopla, has introduced an indulgent Singapore-exclusive pandan shake made with vanilla frozen custard, pandan, coconut and topped with gula melaka crumble. NTUC Fairprice Finest has a curated local section packed with local favourites to artisanal snacks like savoury chicken bak kwa ice cream from Udders, Founder’s bak kut teh and Prima Taste laksa and Singapore curry paste. Inside Starbucks Reserve, you’ll find a localised menu with freshly-prepared dishes like chicken ciabatta, Hainanese chicken rice quinoa salad and desserts featuring local creamery, Udders.
