How does the game work?

Imagine hide and seek but in a bigger setting – the hiding spots are greater, the stakes are higher, and there’s even more chaos and fun. That’s what you get at Ikea Singapore’s biggest hide-and-seek event, taking place on the first weekend in June between 10am and 10.45am. Your memory and observation skills will be put to the test, as you’ll go around the store to find as many hidden characters as possible in the shortest time.
Here are the basic rules: within 45 minutes, players need to find eight characters and submit their findings immediately, as submission time is also taken into account during points allocation. For example, the first team to find a hidden character will be given 140 points, the second team receives 139 points, and so on.

Players must ensure they fill in the correct team number, and answers submitted after 10.45am won’t be entertained. In case of any discrepancies, the official event organiser will have the final decision.
If there’s more than one team who have obtained the highest score, an electronic spin the wheel will be used to determine the winner. This will be conducted in Ikea’s office, witnessed by three workers not involved in the campaign, and recorded and submitted to the audit team to ensure fairness. The winning team will win 1 million Ikea Family points.
Before you start hiding…

While it’s all fun and games, there are certain things players need to take note of. Firstly, the Ikea Alexandra outlet remains open to regular shoppers during the hide-and-seek event, so participants should be mindful. The organiser reserves the right to remove any player who is disruptive, behaves inappropriately, or is inconsiderate towards customers
Next, staff-only areas are strictly out of bounds and there are no hidden characters in the cookware and tableware sections of the showrooms. Players are also reminded not to run in restricted areas, move or climb on furniture, or handle locks and props with brute force. You’re not auditioning for Ninja Warrior! Oh, and one more thing: electrical outlets and drop ceilings are not part of the game.
Participants are recommended to wear comfortable clothing and shoes that won’t restrict movement; those carrying bags can place them in the lockers on Level 2, which are free to use.
Want in? Here’s what to know

So, are you still keen to take part in Ikea’s hide-and-seek competition? If you answered yes, here’s what you need to do. Form a team of two, with at least one person being an Ikea Family member and the other must be at least eight years old on the event date. That said, anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian.
There are no admission fees for this, but do note that successful registration doesn’t guarantee participation. You’ll only receive a confirmation email one week prior to the event. And… Ikea reserves the right to change the terms or duration, or even cancel the hide-and-seek event without prior notice.
