What’s new this year?

For the first time ever, the IHC is hosting two special evening programmes. On 27 September and 4 October, the centre stays open after hours for performances and activities. The highlight is the all-new, must-see performance: Divine Tales – Special After Dark Drama in the Gallery. This dramatised skit uses music, dance, and tradition to tell the story behind Deepavali.
What kind of activities can I expect?

If you’re planning to swing by the Deepavali Open House at the Indian Heritage Centre, the good news is that most of the fun is completely free. You can browse the festive market for crafts and fashion, join hands-on activities like making clay lotus ornaments or floral tealight holders, and enjoy henna art, live performances, and garland-tying demos without spending a cent.
Don’t forget to check out the festive dress-up booth and photo corner for that perfect Instagram moment, and yes, there’ll be free snacks like murukku, masala chai and rose syrup drinks to keep the energy up. Even the Divine Tales – Special After Dark Drama in the Gallery performance is free, so you can soak up the cultural magic after hours without opening your wallet.
Some experiences do need registration or come with a fee, though. These include the guided flower walk through Little India that ends with a six-course banana leaf feast on 4 October, and a cooking demo with Chef Devagi featuring edible-flower dishes on 5 October.
The Open House runs from 27 September to 19 October 2025 at the Indian Heritage Centre in Little India, just steps away from Little India MRT station. While you’re in the area, keep an eye out for the brand-new Deepavali mural by artist Jayesh Sachdev.
