Yes, it’s controversial, but there are so many cool ways to leverage ChatGPT in our daily lives! Just check out these unique questions and prompts.
Our office was a mess when ChatGPT launched on OpenAI in November 2022. The chatbot made our jaws hit the floor with its uncanny ability to hold human-like conversations. In the last couple of months, interesting ways to leverage this AI-powered tool have surfaced online. It can act as an interviewer, take on the role of a best friend, and even plan an entire vacation itinerary from start to end. Of course, there are discussions about how ethical this service is, or if it can potentially make human skills redundant in future. But for now, if you’re wondering how to use ChatGPT to improve your daily life, try these questions and prompts.
How to use ChatGPT: Unique questions to ask
1. Suss out the latest tech gadget
Not sure what smartphone to get based on your specific needs? Don’t spend hours browsing tech videos to get your answer. Just ask this quick-witted AI chatbot to help you compare specs like camera functions and features.
Here’s what you can ask ChatGPT: “Which smartphone should I get if I love taking pictures and playing games? The iPhone 14 Pro or the Samsung Z Fold 4?”
We tried it and loved that the chatbot gave us a simple and easy-to-digest rundown of what each product offered. It even took into account the screen size on each phone, hinting that was something mobile game players would appreciate.
2. Plan a romantic proposal
Crafting a marriage proposal that’s romantic and memorable can be nerve-wracking. If you’re the type to fumble at such events, perhaps you need assistance from this trusty tool. In your prompt, add in everything you or your partner desire from a proposal.
This is how we’d ask the ChatGPT app for help: “Plan a romantic proposal in Singapore. Suggest a full event rundown that includes a good location, a live band, decorations and food.”
It’ll give you plenty of popular locations for proposals in Singapore, including spots like Gardens by the Bay and The Alkaff Mansion. Pretty cool stuff. It suggested everything down to exactly when to pull out the ring and when the live band should start playing.
3. Slay that job interview
If you’re thinking of switching careers, or are looking for your first job after graduation, we know how daunting that first interview can be. Competition is tough, but you can stand out from the crowd if you’re prepared and know how to tackle even the most difficult questions.
Here’s how to use ChatGPT to prepare for a job interview: “I am a candidate for a job position in UX design. Act as the interviewer for this company, and ask me interview questions for the role. Reply only as the interviewer, asking me one question at a time.”
We were surprised that ChatGPT started the “interview” with a greeting. It’ll go above and beyond to introduce itself as the interviewer, thank you for coming down, and ask you to tell it all about yourself.
4. Map out a holiday itinerary for your next trip
Booked tickets to spend the next long weekend out of town, but haven’t had a chance to plan your itinerary? Save the effort and leave the details to the ChatGPT app.
This is how we’d ask it to plan our next adventure: “How should I spend four days in Bali? I want to visit the best bars and beaches, and do water sports. Suggest a travel itinerary including accommodations, transport and timing.”
Now, this is a game changer. ChatGPT gave us a complete itinerary with details including when to leave our hotel, how long we should spend at a destination, and what activities to try. It even factored in time to return to our rooms to rest.
5. Write a fairytale for your kids
ChatGPT isn’t just great for entertaining adults. It can also put together magical fairytales to lull the kids to sleep. Insert your little ones’ names in the prompt for a personalised story experience.
Here’s how to use ChatGPT to create a cool new tale: “Write a short story about a young hero named Phillip. He’s on a quest to stop an evil troll from eating all of Harry the hedgehog’s strawberries. Add an introduction, climax and happy ending.”
The results of this prompt were so cute and evoked the warm, nostalgic vibes of an Enid Blyton book. We recommend letting ChatGPT know how long you want the story to be so it can go into detail if needed.
6. Learn a new language
Travelling to another country that doesn’t speak a language you understand? Ask the ChatGPT app for important words and phrases you need to remember. We can’t emphasise how useful this will be when you’re urgently looking for a toilet in a foreign place…
Test ChatGPT’s knowledge of languages this way: “I’m travelling to Paris in April. Can you teach me some French that will help me get around, order food and find a restroom?”
Of course, you can Google this. But we love how friendly the AI chatbot is. It teaches you more than how to place an order, offering other useful phrases like, “Can I pay the bill, please?” and “What do you recommend having here?”
7. Find a listening ear
If you’re mulling over something and no one’s free to chat, air your grievances on ChatGPT. It’s pretty entertaining, so we won’t be surprised if this cheers you up quickly. But note that this isn’t a replacement for seeking help from a mental health expert or therapist.
Start a conversation with ChatGPT like this: “I need comfort after a recent breakup I’ve gone through. Act as a concerned friend. Ask me questions one at a time and wait for me to respond.”
Its replies were slightly stiffer than what we got from other the questions – but we think it’s still better than nothing if you just need a space to rant.
Now that you know how to use ChatGPT, go forth and have fun!
