The huge electronic picnic festival featuring dance music, food, games and art is back and bigger than ever, showcasing Autograf, top local DJs and more
We reckon you’re still reeling from the wonderment of Sunshine Nation’s whoppin’ Garden Beats Festival back in March, and we were starting to worry that we’d have to wait another year for the biggest electronic picnic party in Singapore. Wrong! Like a dream come true, Garden Beats Festival 2016 Vol. 2 will be taking place just four months after the last boozy, blissful, beat-thumpin’ boogaloo. Boy, are we pumped.

Happening once again at Fort Canning Park, this dance music festival – think infectious melodic house glowing with rousing vocals, sensual saxophones and cushy, cruising beats – invites punters to bring in their own food and picnic mats, letting them feast while they frolic. You can’t bring in booze, but you don’t have to worry about getting thirsty ’cos there’ll be plenty of f&b booths (Lime House, MEATliquor, Marco Marco and more) refuelling your engines. Coupled with garden games like sackracing and croquet, art installations and other fringe activities, this festival will keep you entertained all day. And we haven’t even gotten to the music!
Holland’s Bakermat is set to headline this fiesta; he’s best known for commercial deep house gems like “Teach Me” and “One Day”, and other sun-kissed anthems that evoke the soundtrack of summer. Expect juicy disco and funk-fusing earworms from The Netherlands’ Kraak & Smaak, with some downtempo tropical house tossed in for good measure. All the way from Vienna, Möwe churns out more upbeat chunks of deep house and indie dance, while Thailand’s own Moodwax has done housey reworks for the likes of The Weeknd and Aphex Twin. And fronting the local roster? DJs Joshua P, KFC, and Maurice Simon will roll out tunes across the spectrum – nu-disco, house, Balearic, funk, you name it. You’ve no excuse to miss Garden Beats this time!
