Beauty and the Beast musical in Singapore: What you need to know
Beauty and the Beast is beloved worldwide. A brave young woman who looks past the Beast’s outer appearance to love him for who he is? Iconic. That’s why the story has been portrayed everywhere: from the 1991 animated film to the 2017 live-action remake to the original Broadway production that ran for over 13 years.
In this new production, which has been touring Australia since 2023, the classic fairytale breathes life into hit songs like Be Our Guest and the titular Beauty and the Beast. But keep an eye out for hints of a reimagined musical with stunning new sets, costumes, and top-tier technology.
For an extra sprinkle of enchanting Disney dust, members of the OG creative team from Broadway returned to work their magic on this performance. Matt West directs and choreographs (with original composer Alan Menken on the team), alongside lyricist Tim Rice, book writer Linda Woolverton, scenic designer Stan Meyer, costume designer Ann Hould-Ward, and lighting designer Natasha Katz.
P.S. 2015 marks the last time the Broadway musical came to Singapore, so if you missed it then, you’re in luck!

- The show features a total of 119 wigs and 300 costumes.
- During the Gaston musical number, the ensemble clink their mugs over 821 times.
- The performance of Be Our Guest includes a new tap finale featuring Lumiere, Belle, and all the enchanted objects of the Beast’s castle.
- Lumiere’s flames are real!
- Mrs. Potts has two spouts – and one of them smokes.
