Looking for something to do that doesn’t involve dancing, drinking or dining? Late Night Texting is an art event dedicated to the love of words, whether they be in the form of poetry, literature, theatre, improv comedy or just stories in general
If you have a soft spot for typewritten poems, short ghost stories told in the dark, and exploring the Singapore literary scene, Late Night Texting is a unique art event that will suit your literary tastes. Inspired by words and text, Late Night Texting 2017 is a two-day experience of bite-sized theatrical magic and textual adventures on 25 and 26 August.
Think of it as a mini theatre and literature festival held on the grounds of a quaint blue mansion in the city. As part of the Singapore Night Festival, Centre42 (the blue mansion) will be presenting over 30 performances including short 10-minute plays, poetry-reading, comedy and storytelling segments.
Ad-hoc poets from the Proletariat Poetry Factory will be on hand to bash out customised poetry for you on the spot; you’ll also be able to enjoy some passionate spoken word experiences, buy some Singapore-authored books and drink coffee at Late Night Texting. Best thing? Admission is free. But get there early, as it’s expected to be crowded.
