Singapore might get a Wicked visit from Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo this November! Here’s what we know so far…
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo might just be bringing their star power to Singapore this November, and we’re already levitating. Word on the (yellow brick) street is that the pop princess and Broadway-queen-turned-Hollywood-diva are reportedly stopping by the Lion City as part of the global promo tour for Wicked: For Good, the much-anticipated sequel to 2024’s blockbuster Wicked adaptation. Looks like things are about to get a little greener (and pinker)! Here’s everything we’ve heard so far…
How the rumour started
Fans went full detective mode after spotting a sneaky detail in the mechanics of Awiting Wicked 2.0: A Celebration of Filipino Voices, a TikTok competition launched by Universal Pictures Philippines. The contest invites Filipino duos to duet the musical’s iconic ballad “For Good” for a chance to sing the Philippines’ rendition and star in the music video, score an all-expenses-paid trip to Singapore, and meet the cast of Wicked: For Good. (The trip and meet-and-greet have since been quietly scrubbed from the blurb. Suspicious, no?)
Oh, and the winners will be handpicked by Ariana and Cynthia, alongside director Jon M. Chu. That little nugget sent fans spiralling into “wait, so Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are coming to Singapore?!” territory.
Why our Little Red Dot?
If this checks out, Singapore would be the regional hotspot for Wicked: For Good’s promotional push ahead of its 20 November 2025 release (mark your calendars, Ozians). Our sunny island has been flexing its muscles as Asia’s entertainment hub lately, hosting Hollywood premieres, cool concerts in Singapore, and K-pop mega-events. A glittery stopover for Glinda and Elphaba? It makes perfect sense.
This rumour also lands just months after Singapore hosted the Wicked musical at Marina Bay Sands in March and April 2025. If you squint, you can see the marketing stars aligning: Broadway comes in the first quarter, the movie sequel in November, and potentially a mega glam promo event with Ariana and Cynthia sprinkled on top.
Oh, and here’s the real tea: whispers are getting louder that the fan event might even take place at Universal Studios Singapore in Sentosa. While still unconfirmed, it would be a chef’s kiss venue. Universal Pictures meets Universal Studios? The synergy writes itself.
