Our Queen Bee and founder spent the first leg of her Asia trip at Kerry Hotel, Hong Kong. Read on for her honest review!
I’ve travelled to Hong Kong probably about 10 times over the last eight years, and I stayed in a different hotel every time. Last time I visited, I chose the stunning Kerry Hotel, Hong Kong under the Shangri-La Group. It was a truly impressive stay – and here’s why.
10 reasons why I loved Kerry Hotel, Hong Kong
1. Sophisticated yet leisurely
Nestled on the beautiful waterfront, Kerry Hotel seamlessly blends modern luxury with a touch of local charm. From the moment I stepped into the expansive lobby, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of elegance. This was elevated by stunning views of Victoria Harbour and unique designs that paid homage to Hong Kong’s rich cultural tapestry. There was a mix of families and business travellers, so the vibe was friendly but not too hectic.
2. Deluxe rooms
Over 60% of the rooms at Kerry Hotel have floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the stunning vista of the harbour – a true highlight of any stay. The contemporary decor is both stylish and inviting, with plush bedding, spacious work areas, and state-of-the-art technology. What’s more, the marble bathrooms are equipped with luxurious amenities, making it all the more inviting for a wind-down after a long day out. Plus, who wouldn’t appreciate a Hong Kong hotel room complete with a bathtub?
3. Sumptuous buffet breakfasts
Culinary enthusiasts will love the array of dining options here, as there are several restaurants inside Kerry Hotel. Breakfast each day is a full buffet at the Big Bay Cafe – and when I say “full”, I mean extra full. From Indian and Chinese, to Japanese and Western, there was not a station missing. It’s a relaxing way to start the day – though we did need to roll downstairs to enjoy a barista coffee at the lounge.
4. An infinity pool
The impressive infinity pool at Kerry Hotel provides a serene escape, overlooking the water and providing a perfect backdrop for relaxation. The fitness centre is also spacious and well-equipped, catering to both fitness enthusiasts and those looking to unwind with a gentle workout.
5. An incredible spa
With the theme “Back to Basics”, The Spa at Base Camp in Kerry Hotel offers a range of treatments designed to help you restore and rejuvenate your body. If you’re looking to escape with the fast-paced city environment, this is a must-visit hotel spa during your stay. We enjoyed the 60-minute Deep Cleansing Pore Refining Facial – it was every bit the pampering experience you’d expect from a five-star hotel.
We hear there’s also a new fall and winter treatment – the 120-minute Warm & Soothing Body Therapy – ideal for those with muscle tension, poor blood circulation, and cold hands and feet. Providing a body scrub and hot stone massage, this treatment is begging us to go back!
6. Drinks and views at Red Sugar
While we had not-so-lovely typhoon weather for the first three days of our stay, once the sky cleared, we headed up to the gorgeous terrace of Red Sugar to revel in the city skyline. I’ve always enjoyed rooftop bars in Asia, and Red Sugar certainly did not disappoint!
7. Outdoor space
Having the outdoors to yourself is a rare privilege in Hong Kong. And for me, it’s a welcome break from being in the midst of high-rises with very little green space. We could easily idle away hours on the garden terrace or from the rooftop bar at night, just taking in some fresh air along with the dazzling skyline.
8. A convenient location
Situated on the harbourfront of Hung Hom in western Kowloon, Kerry Hotel is an ideal base for your trip to Hong Kong. We enjoyed hopping on the Hung Hom Ferry to Central for daytime travelling, and even caught the Star Ferry over to North Point for dinner one night. Travelling by ferry is simply a delightful way to see all the sights.
Moreover, the nearby Whampoa MTR station makes getting around Hong Kong a breeze. The hotel also offers easy access to shopping districts and cultural landmarks, ensuring you can experience the best of the city without hassle.
9. Warm service
I could not fault the service. The hotel manager and waitstaff were friendly and attentive. The concierge even helped us with umbrellas, timetables, maps, local massage bookings, and taxis. The room service was super fast and efficient, too.
10. The little touches
The details make all the difference. From the Nespresso machine and insanely good green tea, to complimentary on-demand movies, to the feather duvet and quality mattress topper, I was well taken care of from day till night at Kerry Hotel.
