If there's one thing we know, it's the best restaurants in Sai Ying Pun. We've eaten our way through this cool little neighbourhood many a time, and here are our top picks
Each neighbourhood in Hong Kong has a slightly different vibe. From Little Thailand in Kowloon City to artsy Sheung Wan and Mong Kok with its pop culture, we love the diversity of The 852. And one very special neighbourhood is home to Honeycombers HQ: SYP! If you’re looking for the best restaurants in Sai Ying Pun, then you’ve come to the right place. Here they are in no particular order for your eating pleasure.

Featuring some of the tastiest pizzas in town and an uber cool interior, Homeslice is the place to be after-work in Sai Ying Pun. We love the fact that they serve equally good meat-filled and vegan pizzas, all packed with flavour and unique ingredient combos. If we’re looking for something lighter, we go down the salad route and don’t miss those mighty fine katsu sandos for the win.

This cool and casual izakaya in Sai Ying Pun quickly became the trendiest place to hang when it opened its doors back in 2015. Since then, it’s solidified itself as one of the best Japanese joints in town, serving up delicious small plates, sashimi and an epic omakase menu. Add to that the exquisite natural sakes on offer and you’ve got the perfect night out.

What’s not to love about Feather & Bone? From the perfectly-brewed coffee to the accompanying grocer that stocks some of the best goodies in town, and the all-day restaurant, it’s the perfect spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We love the smashed avo toast, the truffle mac and cheese and the bad-ass beef burger most.

SYP is known as somewhat of a French enclave, so it makes sense that a mighty fine French restaurant is close by. We can’t get enough of Metropolitain and it’s ridiculously creamy mashed potatoes #heaven. Go for the baked camembert, stay for the lobster linguine and don’t forget to try the tarte tatin.

On the hunt for dumplings in Sai Ying Pun? Northern Dumpling Yuan makes some of the meanest dumps around, and you can either eat them there or take some raw dumplings home to feast on. Whether you’re a veggie or a meaty, you’ll definitely find a delicious dumpling here, and on top of that, the rest of the menu is stellar too. We’re addicted to the spicy cold Sichuan noodles.

6. Soo Viet
If cheap and cheerful Vietnamese is your bag, then Soo Viet is where you’re going to want to go. We live for their cold vermicelli and fresh spring rolls, and their lunch sets are great too. Just be warned, it gets busy here quickly, so plan your visit before or after the 1 pm rush.

Pondi’s Shepherds Pie is nothing to scoff at. Executive chef Taran Chadha has spun this childhood classic into a dish which merits a round of applause. Twice cooked baby potatoes are delicately stuffed with oxtail stew before being smothered with silky mash and topped with juicy hanger steak. Pair it with our Christina Oloroso sherry and we promise you’re in for a treat. Dinner starts at 6pm tonight 😉 #pondihk #blacksalthk #bruthk #hkfoodie #hkfood #hkdrinks #indian #french #naturalwines #sherrywines #tastecuriously

If you’re as fussy about your interiors as you are with your food, then you’re definitely going to want to head to Kaum at Potato Head. Step into the beautifully designed space and prepare to feast on the flavours of Indonesia. Tasty and authentic Thai food can be hard to come upon on Hong Kong Island, but Krua Walaiphan is here to change this. Helmed by Chef Walaiphan Hanyut, expect flavourful dishes crafted from the freshest ingredients here, plus it’s all MSG-free. Alongside the classic curries, noodles and salads, we love the Chef’s special menu that includes the likes of crispy barramundi fish salad with cashew nuts and lemongrass.

14. Home Town Dumpling
Another five-star dumpling spot in SYP is Home Town Dumpling. They make little parcels of love and the price is super reasonable. Surprisingly, the tomato and egg flavoured ones have become some of our faves and the rest of the menu is full of tasty treats too.
