About Elaine Wong
Hello, I’m Elaine Wong – ex-Editor of Honeycombers Hong Kong, born-and-raised local, and your friendly, trilingual guide to this incredible city.
I’ve got Hong Kong in my bones. After a decade abroad (including a stint at Oxford), I came home with fresh eyes and a renewed obsession with our ever-evolving culture – from the grassroots icon Mcdull to celebrated Michelin-Starred restaurants, traditional dancing lions to timeless Cantopop tunes. These days, I channel that passion into covering everything that makes the 852 life sweet, tasteful, and downright fun, be it about food and drinks, arts, wellness, or travel.
My Honeycombers journey started as a Junior Editor, where my stories about inspirational chefs, indie creatives, and neighbourhood lore resonated with readers craving authentic local intel. By 2022, I’d stepped up as Editor – now leading our SEO strategy, content direction, and killer branded campaigns. My superpower? Making analytics feel (almost) creative.
Ultimately, what fuels me is being able to connect with you through stories that feel as if we’re chatting over coffee. Oh, and newsletters are my love language. You might catch me flexing my Cantonese, Mandarin, and English on Honeycombers’ Rednote too, sometimes...!
Off-duty, you’ll find me making or listening to music, hunting the perfect long black or a smooth red, or switching between true crime docs and cat videos – yes, I have the typical duality of a Gemini.
