I’ve lived in Uluwatu for almost a decade, and wow – it’s changed fast. Back in the day, the only places to eat were small local warungs for a post-surf feed. These days, Uluwatu’s dining scene is blowing up. A bunch of Canggu’s most famous restaurants have set up second homes here, but luckily, we’ve also got some Uluwatu-only gems of our own.
So, here’s my list of the best restaurants in Uluwatu – the places I actually eat at on the regular. I’ve broken it down by vibe (views, date night, or family-friendly) and I’ve included top restaurants away from the main Uluwatu strip, in neighbouring areas like Bingin, Padang Padang and Ungasan. 1. Bartolo
Chic European plates, seasonal menus and standout cocktails.
I absolutely love Bartolo. Ever since it first opened, I’ve been here for after-work cocktails, pre-dinner catch-ups, special occasion dinners and… well, whenever I’m in the mood for proper European food. It’s also where you’ll find some of the best cocktails in Uluwatu (the Black Lime Margarita is unreal).
The menu is compact and seasonal, so there’s always something new to try. It leans French and Italian – think steak tartare, juicy grilled prawns, truffle-laced pasta and fresh fish cooked en papillote. If you’re just here for drinks, fill your table with pâté, charcuterie and market clams, plus a round of Bartolo Spritz.
I love sitting on the terrace to catch the last light of the day before moving inside to one of the booths. It really does feel like a European bistro, with black-and-white tiles, a city-cool buzz from the bar, and warm hospitality that makes you feel like a regular from the very first visit.
Best for: European bistro vibes, incredible cocktails and an authentic French-Italian menu.
Must-try dishes: Steak Tartare, Market Clams, Beef Bourguignon.

2. Hidden Gem Uluwatu
Secluded hilltop steakhouse with Mediterranean and Asian flavours and 50+ wines by the glass.
True to its name, Hidden Gem Uluwatu is a tucked-away restaurant and wine lounge tucked inside the hillside resort of Hidden Hills Villas. It’s perched right beside the resort’s infinity pool, so it’s a great spot to catch those famous Uluwatu sunsets. But that’s not the only reason to visit…
This upscale restaurant reminds me of a modern Californian steakhouse. There’s premium Wagyu with Jimbaran lobster, a three-way lamb rack, and some of the juiciest oysters around. The charcuterie and cheese board is a must to start, and you’ll want to save room for the chocolate-pistachio lava cake (trust me on this one).
But what really sets Hidden Gem apart is the wine. With over 50 wines by the glass (including premium labels you’d usually only find by the bottle), this place is a mecca for wine lovers. Everything is curated by owner Max Loong (a WSET Level 4-certified sommelier), and his team will guide you through the pairings. It never feels pretentious – just genuine knowledge and spot-on recommendations that elevate the food.
Best for: Sunset wines, premium steaks, and a secluded hilltop setting.

Sitting atop Uluwatu’s rugged cliffs, Waatu is the latest creation from internationally acclaimed Australian chef James Viles. It celebrates local produce, culture and primal cooking over open fire. The menu is packed with produce-driven, fire-kissed dishes designed to swap and share.
The portions are generous, the flavours will keep you talking, and the tables are big enough to fill with folded flatbreads, still-warm hummus, Wagyu yakitori skewers and whole-roasted fish. Then, save space for the whipped chocolate and salted caramel mousse – it’s theatrically served inside a whole cacao pod. Wash it all down with Waatu’s whimsical cocktails – they alone are worth the trip to Uluwatu.
Best for: A shared dinner of wood-fired skewers, bites, bowls and grilled specialties.

4. Zali
A Lebanese restaurant with gorgeous interiors, wholesome recipes and share-style plates.
From Pererenan to Uluwatu (and now, Abu Dhabi!), Zali is a love story brought to life by Liza – a Lebanese grandmother who simply adores cooking. At Zali, she shares her family recipes and authentic flavours straight from Beirut, adding a modern Levantine twist to every dish. You can tell it’s cooked with heart, so this place is aways buzzing with groups of friends and family, gathering around good food and great company.
But what I love most about this Uluwatu restaurant is how true it stays to the warmth of a Lebanese family home. The menu champions healthy, natural ingredients, with plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options – so no one leaves the table hungry. And since Zali’s food is always best shared, go for the group set menu, which includes 10 small plates plus two desserts. And trust me, you’ll want to try their new Mediterranean-inspired cocktails too…
Best for: Modern Levantine food made with healthy and fresh ingredients.

5. Mana Uluwatu

Come for the views, stay for the food and next-level cocktails. Mana Uluwatu is perched high up on the cliffside of Uluwatu Surf Villas, overlooking the pumping waves and glittering horizon. In true surfer style, the food here is all about wholesome, nourishing bites from both land and sea.
I can’t get enough of the Baja fish tacos and plant-based frittatas. Nor can I overlook the skillet roasted chicken. And the grilled Black Angus ribeye is next on my hitlist. All of this is dished up in a gorgeous open-air pavilion made of reclaimed teak and ironwood. The views, the food and the good vibes are all best enjoyed with a Mana cocktail… And of course, a golden glowing sunset.
Best for: Sunset cocktails downstairs by the pool, before dinner on the long tables upstairs.
Must-try dishes: Crispy Potato Bravas, Baja Tacos, Half Skillet Roasted Chicken.
Local tip: This is one of the best sunset spots in Uluwatu, so arrive early before sundown.

Arrive early for an aperitif by the bar (try the citrusy Garibaldi), then make your way to the open-air table and get a taste of the grill-masters’ best.
Best for: An elevated steak dinner with incredible views.

Perched on the dramatic Bingin cliffs, Abracadabra at Mu Boutique Resort transforms fresh, organic, and seasonal ingredients into unforgettable meals. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this hidden gem serves up healthy, homemade dishes with panoramic ocean views. I love the crunchy beetroot salad with pear, asparagus, and feta, as well as the flavour-packed tempe burger with oven-baked sweet potatoes.

If you’ve been to Bali but you didn’t eat at Yuki – let me tell you, you missed out. Originally from Canggu, Yuki is a progressive, design-driven Japanese restaurant that’s carved out a loyal following. But unlike its beachside sister address, the Uluwatu outpost isn’t a breezy sunset spot. This is where you come for a cocktail-fuelled dinner with low lighting, moody interiors, and serious attention to detail.
The menu reads like a modern izakaya – packed with punchy small plates, raw bites and smoky skewers. Fill your table to get a taste of everything. There are clever vegan options too, like the nori ahi tacos made with watermelon instead of tuna. The Wagyu sando is another standout, along with the torched salmon maki, charcoal-grilled yakitori, and tuna tartare with truffle mayo.
The cocktails follow suit. The Off to Tokyo comes with a subtle hit of wasabi and a furikake rim, while the Yukies 2.0 blends gin, kalamansi and yuzu for a sharp, Bali-meets-Japan twist.
Best for: Modern Japanese food and progressive cocktails in a stylish, vibey venue.

From Canggu to Uluwatu, Masonry Uluwatu is the second address for this Canggu trailblazer. Standing proud on Uluwatu’s most happening corner, Masonry Uluwatu is filled out every night with a hypnotic buzz from the bustling open kitchen. Low lighting, cosy seating and breezy tropical plants set the scene, flocked by Uluwatu’s finest, hungry for a taste of Masonry’s longstanding signatures (like the 48-hour slow cooked short ribs) and new Uluwatu-specific additions. Naturally, you’ll want to wash it all down with superb cocktails, like the Masonry Old Fashioned.
Best for: Woodfired Mediterranean feasts to share.

A neighbourhood grillery and modern Greek restaurant with gorgeous, earthy interiors, KALA is a minimalistic and stylish dining experience in Uluwatu, just minutes from Padang Padang. Start with speakeasy-grade cocktails and rounds of classic and natural wines, while grazing on oven-fresh flatbread, and scooping up mezze dips, then slowly move onto the larger plates. As the mains arrive, expect perfectly-charred octopus, chicken souvlaki and paccheri pasta with creamy goat cheese. Finish with the Baklava Cheesecake – you won’t regret it.
Best for: Modern Greek food with homey vibes.

From Umalas to Uluwatu, Tacos Aqui is Bali’s muy caliente Mexican restaurant and taqueria. It instantly caught my eye with its double-story, neon pink kaleidoscope of chaotic architecture, reminiscent of a psychedelic Hacienda ranch house. And the menu is just as impressive. The tortillas, salsa and hot sauces are all made in-house, and everything on the menu uses fresh, locally sourced ingredients. You’ll want to bring your amigos and order a few things to swap and share. With live music, laid-back vibes, plus Taco Tuesdays and Thursdays, there’s no excuse but to try ’em all…
Best for: Mexican food and fiesta.

12. Lola’s Cantina Mexicana
Cali-Mexican feasts with margaritas, tacos and after-dark dancing.
From Canggu to Uluwatu, Lola’s Cantina Mexicana brings together everything I love about a Mexican restaurant: killer margaritas, Cali-Mexican feast, and late night music and dancing. You’ll want to try Lola’s kitchen’s specialty: the tacos. I like mine topped with the beer-battered fish, or the chunks of crispy pork belly. Sometimes, I round up my hungriest mates and order one of everything off the menu. I’m talking burritos, bowls, taquitos, nachos and fajitas, too. Just don’t forget to finish off with Lola’s selection of dulces!
Best for: Cali-Mexican lunch and dinner that roll on to after-dark dancing.

Craft burger bar with house-baked buns, messy sides and late-night takeouts.
If you know, you know. BB52 slings some of the best craft burgers in Bali. It’s our go-to after a surf, for a late-night craving, or for when we just need a big, satisfying feed. This isn’t just any old fast food joint. It’s a proper burger bar with house-baked buns, juicy patties, and a stack of sides that always hit the spot. Think creamy mac & cheese, truffle parmesan fries, and their signature salty nugs. As for the craft burgers, the classic BB52 Burger is the people’s favourite, but the Big Mac and the O-G Burger on a pretzel bun gets my vote.
Best for: Craft burgers, messy sides and late-night takeouts.

14. Ulu Fish Market
Laid-back seafood grill with Japanese-Peruvian flavours.
I’ll admit, I found Ulu Fish Market by accident, But wow, I’m so happy I did. This breezy Uluwatu restaurant has quickly become my regular, with its communal alfresco dining, a canopy of palm trees, and a rustic beach house feel. As for the food? It brings Bali’s seafood barbecues to a restaurant setting.
You’ll find everything on the menu, from sushi and sashimi to burgers, pasta and salads. It’s a little bit Hawaiian, with a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian touches. But if you ask me, the absolute best thing on the menu is the “Fresh Catch Plates”, where you first choose your fish, then your seasoning, and finally your sides. It’s a winner every time.
Best for: A laid-back but lively fish-filled dinner in an tropical, alfresco setting.
Must-try dishes: Blackened Tuna Sashimi, Truffled Salmon Belly Sushi, Fresh Catch Plates.

15. Ulu Garden
Open-air garden restaurant that celebrates Balinese ingredients, live music and local vibes.
Ulu Garden is an all-day restaurant that feels how Bali used to be – open-air, unpretentious, and totally in tune with its surroundings. It honours nature and its rich Indonesian roots, and it’s entirely built around a magnificent tree. The restaurant itself is integrated into a breezy tropical garden, which shifts with the rise and fall of the sun. By day, it’s a relaxing brunch space; by night, it transforms into a lively, community-driven evening spot with live local music.
As for the menu, expect perfectly balanced dishes that blend Balinese ingredients and spices with Western influences. My fave is the coconut tuna bowl with sambal matah, and the chicken betutu served with all the traditional trimmings. Whatever you choose, the entire menu is nourishing, delicious, and an ode to the local Indonesian community.
Best for: Dinner beneath the trees, live music, and laid-back local vibes.

16. Shaka Riki
Breezy Japanese eatery with fresh sushi and sashimi.
Shaka Riki is on my ‘weekly rotation’ – I eat here at least once per week, if not more! It’s laid-back, open-air and humble in all the right ways – but the food is seriously good. The hospitality alone makes it a standout. You’re welcomed with free miso soup, nuts and a cold towel, and honestly, the team here might just be the friendliest staff in all of Uluwatu.
The Japanese chef–owner is in the kitchen every night, which means everything feels super authentic. The menu is huge too: top-quality sushi rolls (named after pro surfers), sashimi, combo plates, ramen, Japanese curry and all the classic staples. To start, I always go for the seaweed salad, agedashi tofu and tuna tataki. Follow with those signature rolls, a hot bowl of ramen, and wash it all down with a sake or ice-cold beer.
Best for: Fresh sushi and authentic Japanese cuisine in a laid-back, family-friendly setting.
Must-try dishes: Sashimi Trio, Tuna Tataki, Miso Ramen, Mixed Plates.
