1. Wheatfields Bread Lab

Wheatfields Bread Lab (by Starter Lab) is an elite bakery that first opened in Canggu back in 2017. Now in a new location, this cute kiosk is where you can order a creative range of sourdoughs from a little window. Think loaves flavoured with rosemary, lemon, seasalt or miso, whilst cinnamon spices up its ‘hundred layered’ morning bun. 2. Barō Bakery

You can expect nothing but top quality breads at Barō Bakery as its owner, Emerson Manibo, used to work at Tartine, one of New York’s best bakeries. Try the artisanal ancient grain sourdough, sweet potato brioche or coconut milk bread. Flatbread is topped with regularly changing produce, from eggplant with bocconcini, to a rainbow of radishes. Our fave? The bread pudding – it’s finished with zesty passion fruit for a tropical kiss.

Farine specialises in San Francisco-style sourdough with dark rye, sunflower and flaxseed being some of its more exclusive flavours. Baked daily, its bread is the perfect base for a range of sandwiches made fresh in store. Take your pick from roasted chicken, tuna mayonnaise and curried egg with bacon. Avoid disappointment by going early as it opens at 7am and runs until everything sells out.

6. Baked

Head to one of Baked in Uluwatu (or one of its many locations in Bali) for a brunch and bakery stop complete with creamy scrambled eggs and slices of seriously good sourdough. Braud is an artisanal bakery that has been baking sourdough and pastries since 2014, before opening its dedicated café six years later. Perfect for those post surf hunger pangs is a delectable display of baked goods and artisanal bread at The Bakery in Uluwatu. Joining the ranks of its best seller, the classic cinnamon scroll, is a Nutella scroll finished with a generous lashing of chocolate hazelnut spread. If you’re craving something savoury, Turkish breads come topped with sun-dried tomato or caramelised onion.

9. Rüsters

We know top quality when we see it (and taste it!), so that’s why the bakery at Rüsters in Ubud tops the list when it comes to fantastic baked goods. Not only dishing up delicious cakes and pastries, this bakery is run by Danish baker, Asger Skov Hansen. He’s worked in Michelin-starred restaurants in Denmark, and opened one of the most popular bakeries in Copenhagen, winning multiple national and international baking awards, like the Parisian Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie, AKA the World Cup of Baking. You’ll definitely want to try his sourdough, his citrus tart and the signature baked cheesecake.
