It’s official. Bali is set to become the next cocktail-sipping capital of the continent. Disclaimer: we’re a little biased.
Just last month, the prestigious World’s Best awards announced the regional winners of its Asia’s 50 Best Bars roundup, and for the first time in its two-year history, Bali made the cut. Twice.
Though the home of Honeycombers HQ takes the cocktail crown with 13 Singapore bars making the list, a double win for Bali says that our little paradise island could soon take over as the next cocktail-sipping capital of the continent. OK, we’re prematurely confident, but watch this space!
This is only the second year for the prestigious award, but the results were determined by almost 200 industry experts from all over Asia, so you know that these awardees are truly the cream of the crop.
So what’s so special about these two award-winning watering holes we hear you cry? Let us indulge you, fellow guzzlers. Potato Head Beach Club brings us classic and new wave concoctions accented by exotic island ingredients. Take the Kookaburra for instance – a lemongrass gin-based creation topped with passionfruit and vanilla foam, served up beside the Seminyak seaside.
As for Night Rooster in Ubud, this hot new cocktail hub ploughs a similar furrow, harnessing native ingredients in highly imaginative cocktails. Bartender Raka Ambarawan oversees an ever-evolving list of just 10 drinks, using homemade vermouths, bitters and infused gins. Recent faves include the Jack and Gin – a spicy mix of jackfruit-infused Tanqueray, vermouth and fresh jackfruit – and the vodka and whisky-based Ashes, made with blow-torched dehydrated fruit. Yum!
Deserved wins? You betcha.
