Would you trade your cucumber for a cocktail? (We would.) Hendrick’s Gin is bringing back the Great Cucumber Exchange, where you can score a tipple just by handing over a cucumber.
When it comes to surviving Singapore’s relentless humidity, we’ve tried just about everything – from lugging portable fans in our bags to keeping a stash of cooling wipes in the office drawer. But if you’re looking for an unusually refreshing way to beat the heat this June, let us introduce you to the only currency that matters: cucumbers. Yes, really.
As a team that’s always sniffing out the city’s quirkiest happenings (and best happy hour deals), we’re thrilled to report that the Great Cucumber Exchange by Hendrick’s Gin is back from 16 to 19 June 2025, in celebration of World Cucumber Day. Following last year’s wildly popular run, this free-spirited campaign invites anyone with a cucumber to waltz into participating bars and trade it in for a free Hendrick’s Gin cocktail. That’s right, no strings attached.
Stay as cool as a cucumber

Here’s the lowdown: bring a cucumber to one of the 95 selected bars across Singapore during the exchange period, and you’ll be handed a complimentary Hendrick’s & Tonic on the house. No cash, no cards, just cucumbers. It’s all in celebration of World Cucumber Day, a rather curious holiday that Hendrick’s Gin has long championed, to honour this crisp green fruit that gives this iconic spirit its signature edge.
Wondering what makes the cucumber so important? Hendrick’s Gin is no ordinary pour. Its peculiar charm lies in its infusion of rose and cucumber post-distillation, which results in a refreshing botanical blend that’s light, complex, and unmistakably smooth. So, it only makes sense that the humble cucumber is the star of this celebration.
Take your pick from two delightful cocktails

Expect two cocktails to choose from this year, featuring the latest limited-edition gin releases from Hendrick’s Cabinet of Curiosities. You can sip on Hendrick’s Flora Adora, a floral-forward libation inspired by pollinator-friendly blooms, perfect for those who prefer their drinks fresh and breezy.
Alternatively, go bold with Hendrick’s Grand Cabaret, a limited-edition beauty laced with juicy stone fruits and decadent notes that’ll make you feel like you’ve just stepped into a velvet-draped jazz lounge. Paired with fizzy and slightly sweet tonic water, the combination with either Hendrick’s option makes a perfect libation for your post-work hangs.
Forgot your cucumber? Turn to the Hendrick’s Cucumber Town Council

Can’t find a cucumber on short notice? Don’t sweat it. During lunchtime, the Hendrick’s Cucumber Town Council will be out and about in Raffles Place and Tanjong Pagar, handing out free cucumbers to curious (and thirsty) citizens.
Here are the details:
- 16 June at Raffles Place MRT station and CapitaSpring
- 17 June at Marina Bay Financial Centre Towers 1 & 2, Commerce Street, and Marina Food House
- 18 June at Amoy Food Street, walkway to Telok Ayer Park, and Capital Tower
- 19 June at Asia Square, Marina Food House, and Lau Pa Sat
So if you spot someone in dapper attire offering you produce, take the cucumber and run straight to your nearest participating bar. We’re talking about the likes of 1918 Heritage Bar, 28 Hongkong Street, OUE Sky Level 1 Bar, The Whisper Room, The Bar at 15 Stamford, Miss G’s Grill and Bar, Woobar, the Kanpai Group, and more.
